A campaign letter nine days before Israel votes

The post went up on a Sunday at 10:45 AM Eastern, nine days before Israel's October 27 Knesset election. It uses the open-letter form Trump has adopted for endorsing foreign leaders: a salutation ("To the Great People of Israel:"), his standard closing ("Thank you for your attention to this matter"), and a signature block in capitals. The sentence that does the work is a conditional: "If Israel has the wrong Leader, which would be anyone other than Bibi, America will have to do this work ourselves, and I am not inclined to do so." Next to it sits "This is the kind of Partner that the United States of America is demanding of Israel, a Country for which it has done so much." Together they tell Israeli voters that America's commitment against Iran depends on how they vote. He pulled the same lever in October 2025, when he said the US would not be "generous" with Argentina if Milei lost, and again before Honduras's 2025 vote. The pattern is stable across those cases: support from Washington is offered as a reward for picking his preferred candidate, and the electorate is reminded of what it owes ("for which it has done so much"). The motive here is power. The relationship with Israel is framed as patronage, with a debt attached.

Netanyahu written as a mirror

The portrait of Netanyahu closely follows Trump's account of himself: "Strong, Brave, and Brilliant in the face of tremendous opposition, including that coming from even Israel, itself... he has endured and, in fact, he has thrived!" and "Normal men or women in such situations would have wilted under the pressure — But Bibi did not wilt, he actually got stronger." A man persecuted by his own country who endures and grows stronger under attack is the same redemption arc Trump tells about his indictments and the 2020 loss. The idealization works as what Kohut called twinship: praising the ally also praises the kind of man Trump takes himself to be. "I have watched Bibi under the most trying of times" casts Trump as the witness who vouches for him. The phrase "even Israel, itself" points to Netanyahu's prosecution and the protest movements against him. Trump's November 2025 letter asking President Herzog to pardon Netanyahu shows he already carries this grievance on Netanyahu's behalf.

The splitting is explicit. "Anyone other than Bibi" is "the wrong Leader," which turns every rival in the race into one disqualified category, none of them named. The state is grandiose, but the grandiosity is vicarious, flowing through a chosen ally. Nothing in the text reacts to a slight. The post reads as a planned intervention, not a wounded one.

Iran: already destroyed, and still to be finished

The Iran passage makes two claims that can't both be literally true. Iran has been "systematically destroyed, both Militarily and Financially," and also "unless they change their ways, rapidly, we will soon finish the job." The second is a threat of further military action. It has no fixed timing and depends on Iran's behavior. Its target is a state, and the passage has no dehumanizing vocabulary and names no domestic individuals. The risk it carries is interstate escalation, not incitement of followers. The justification rests on a strange inference: "What Country can survive when things such as this are allowed to be said, because eventually, they always end up being true?" That treats a slogan as a prophecy that fulfills itself, and so turns hostile speech into grounds for preventive force. This is rationalization: a general law ("they always end up being true") is invented to make an existing policy feel inevitable.

The "51 year old chant" is off by four years. The chant dates from the 1979 revolution, 47 years before this post. The line "We will destroy the Little Satan and the Big Satan" is not a standard chant. It compresses Khomeini's labels ("Great Satan" for the US, "Little Satan" for Israel) into a single sentence placed inside quotation marks. A round, inflated number fits Trump's long-standing habit with quantities. On this evidence it is not a cognitive sign: the error is arithmetic, and the rest of the letter tracks its own argument from start to finish.

Who wrote it

The text looks like a staff frame carrying Trump's voice. On Trump's side: capitals on ordinary nouns ("Partner," "Strength," "Letter," "Race," "Country"), the wrong anniversary, the strained "always end up being true" logic, the plain "Normal men or women... would have wilted," and the first-person reluctance "I am not inclined to do so." On the staff side: the letter format, steady punctuation, a typeset em-dash, the time (business hours), and its place in a morning that also carried a golf-course announcement written as a press release ("under the auspices of Secretary Doug Burgum"). The likeliest account is that Trump dictated it or marked up a draft.

Where it sits in the morning's run

Other posts the same morning had France "burning" because of "people with hatred in their hearts," the Ukraine impeachment as a "scam" with the promise "You have not heard the last of this!", the East Potomac golf plan, and "God Bless The U.S.A." The Israel letter is the most composed of them and the only one written in a diplomatic register. Its threat is quieter than the impeachment post's vow but carries more weight, because it attaches the leverage of American force to a foreign ballot.
