The chart's own persuasive work is done by placement rather than assertion. What the credit-claiming is doing

Agency is near-total and communion near-absent: the households in the chart are a quantity, not people with circumstances, and the credit stays undivided, with no co-author of the line acknowledged anywhere on it. The motive reads as achievement display with a status finish — a scoreboard posted for an audience, with the poster's name on the scoreboard.

The self-idealization is the only defense operating with any force, and it operates through selection rather than statement: choosing the graphic whose label converts a long national series into a personal result. There is no injury visible behind it.
