A New Year's victory reel, posted in September

The attached video is a stitched montage of cable-news segments, press-briefing audio and excerpts of Trump's own speeches, built for the turn from 2025 to 2026. It says so itself: "It's a new year. The stock markets are already making new record highs," "2025 was setting the table that the banquet's gonna be in 2026," "The president isn't taking his foot off the gas in 2026." He published it at 05:06 UTC on September 19, 2026, nine months after the moment it was made for. It went out with no caption, so the only statement he makes is that he posted it, and posting it treats the reel's forecasts ("As for the next year, the American people have so much to look forward to") as already delivered.

Most of the voices praise him in the third person, and the praise is framed as destiny: "Sometimes in history, there's this magic moment. Somebody appears on the scene and everything changes," "a man who's met his destiny," "He said he was saved by God in order to make America great again," "His victory was the greatest comeback of all time." His own voice comes in through campaign and ceremonial lines ("I will fight for you... I will win for you," "no other president's gonna do what I'm doing," "the Golden Age of America has only just begun"). The clip ends on a sung "America the Beautiful," and that last stretch of the transcript is music.

Where it lands in the day

The reel follows a day of posts that make the same point in other ways. Hours earlier he announced he was "banning Fake News CNN, MSNOW... and Politico from the White House" over their "constant 'reporting' FAKE NEWS," and he also posted a list headed "TOP 25 TRUMP ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF TERM THREE." In that sequence the reel reads as a replacement for the coverage he had just shut out: having expelled the outlets that report against him, he fills his own feed with segments that say "They're watching history, so buckle up" and "47's on a hot streak, bringing head snapping change to Washington." The trigger looks like supply-seeking. It also looks like repair: a flattering portrait posted straight after a confrontation with the press. The "term three" heading in the earlier list fits the same counting, in which the disputed 2020 result is booked as a win. That reading comes from the adjacent post, and this video offers nothing to confirm it.

With Xi Jinping's state visit set for September 24 and the midterms about six weeks away, the reel also works as a campaign spot. The "Top 25" list and the reel make two passes over the same scoreboard in one evening, and the repetition says more about his state than either post does alone.

The self-story the clip tells

The narrative is a redemption arc stretched into a messianic one: providential rescue ("saved by God"), a comeback ("greatest comeback of all time"), then a promised golden age ("This is the Golden Age coming"). He is cast as the chosen savior whose arrival changes history. The King archetype sits alongside: "America's in charge," "Peace through strength." On the order/chaos axis the clip is order-restorative. It frames the administration's speed as "overwhelming the system with a volcanic eruption of action," which turns disruption into a virtue while promising stability afterward.

The adversaries are faint and unnamed: "those who would try to censor us, silence us, break us, destroy us," and foreign countries "ripping off America." One line keeps a grievance word alive inside the celebration: "Success will be my retribution." The clip recasts retribution as achievement, but choosing to include the word keeps the score-settling frame present in an otherwise triumphal piece. It names no person or group as a target and suggests no action, which is why this post carries no violence risk despite the word.

Idealization against the current record

The main defense is idealization, carried entirely by other people's superlatives ("greatest comeback of all time," "the most secure border in the history of this nation," "This president will go down in history as a peacemaking president"). Posting the reel now also carries a quieter distortion. Its economic lines ("inflation is down," a garbled "Lowest gas prices...") are old claims presented as current, in a month when he himself blamed Ukrainian refinery strikes for record US diesel prices (September 13) and when the Fed chair he is pressuring signaled inflation concerns strong enough that markets priced in a possible hike (September 16). Re-airing a January victory lap against that background swaps an unfavorable present for a flattering past. The splitting is mild. "Proud, free, sovereign, and independent nation" is set against those who would "break us, destroy us," and the rest of the reel is uniformly celebratory.

The factual assertions in the clip belong to its speakers, and none of them are his written claims, so they are discussed here and left out of the fact-check list. Southwest border crossings did fall to historic lows during 2025, so the "zero illegal crossing" line exaggerates a real drop. The "military recruitment at an all-time high" claim overstates FY2025 results, in which the services met their goals. The garbled gas-price line can't be read reliably.

Who pressed post

The post went up at about 1:06 a.m. Eastern (he was in Washington, on the evidence of the same-day White House press ban). That hour matches his own late-night posting habits. Truth Social IDs carry their creation time, and the media attachment's ID places the upload about six hours before publication, around 6:50 p.m. Eastern. That means the file was staged in the evening and published overnight, and it fits either of two stories: staff queued a produced video that he later sent out himself, or someone posted it for him late. A polished montage with no caption is typical of White House communications output, while the hour points to him. The attribution concerns who selected and published the clip. Nobody wrote anything here.

The transcript contains other people's voices and his own scripted speech excerpts, so it tells us nothing about his current spontaneous language.
