A Hannity monologue, reposted the same night

The post went up at 02:14 UTC, which is 10:14 p.m. Eastern on September 17. Trump was back from the Ireland trip (Dublin and Doonbeg, September 12–13), and an earlier post that evening praised Andrew Ferguson as "FANTASTIC tonight on FoxNews," so he spent the evening watching Fox. The clip is Sean Hannity's opening segment followed by Stephen Moore. Hannity introduces "Steve Moore," and Moore answers "Sean." Trump attached no words of his own, so everything below is about what he chose to put in front of his audience, not how he writes.

Praise in someone else's voice

The clip credits him personally, and in large terms: "President Trump just did what many believe was impossible." Moore calls the numbers "a miracle" and twice ends a line with "Thank you, Donald Trump," after "Donald Trump has brought the poverty rate down to the lowest level in history" and again after the gender earnings gap claim. Trump usually writes this kind of self-credit himself. Here a named economist and a prime-time host say it about him, and the thanks is addressed to him by name. That points to supply-seeking. The clip gives him admiration that comes from outside, and he passes it on to his audience.

The story in the clip is the one he tells about himself: collapse, then his rescue. It opens on "a devastating four years under Biden and Harris and a horrific pandemic," then turns to "America is back, America is booming," and over a 401(k) chart says "Look at the losses in the middle, that would be Joe Biden." The predecessor is responsible for the dip and Trump for the recovery. This splitting of the economy into two eras is typical of his material, and it requires ignoring that the 2025 data year began under Biden.

Calling bad news a lie before it arrives

The part of the clip with the most psychological weight is its warning about future news: "when you do hear doom and gloom from far left radicalized Democrats, and of course, they're press agents known as the legacy media mob, especially as this midterm approaches, just know straight up, they are lying to you." This labels any unfavorable figure a lie before anyone reports it. Seven weeks before the midterms, reposting it teaches followers that a bad number shows who is lying, not how the economy is doing. The clip also calls affordability a fabrication: "The recession, affordability, lie crisis that Democrats have been peddling ... Nope, never happened."

His own recent words cut against this. On September 13 at Doonbeg he explained record US diesel prices by blaming Ukrainian strikes on Russian refineries, which conceded that prices were a real problem. Five days later he posts a segment calling the affordability crisis a Democratic lie. The denial reaches his audience in Hannity's voice, which lets it stand without him taking back his own admission. The clip hedges once: "that's not to say everything's perfect, it is not." Hannity then goes straight back to attacking Democrats.

The numbers the segment relies on

Hannity and Moore make these claims, and Trump does not restate them, so they are discussed here and kept out of the fact-check list.

• Poverty at an "all-time historic low." This is plausible. The official rate's previous low was 10.5% in 2019, and 2024 came in near 10.6%, so a small drop in 2025 would set a record. The 2025 release is not independently confirmed here.
• Household income "higher than at any point since 1967." The Census median household income series begins in 1967, so the phrase means a record within the series, worded to sound like a comparison across most of a century. Moore's "$87,600" median and his note that "these are through 2025" fit the September timing of the annual report.
• GDPNow at 5.1%. Hannity calls the Atlanta Fed model "often very accurate." It is a nowcast that moves with each data release, and early-quarter readings often get revised a lot.
• "Double the average growth under four years of Biden." Annual real GDP growth for 2021–2024 averaged roughly 3 to 3.5 percent. A 5.1% annualized quarterly nowcast is about one and a half times that, compares two different measures, and is not double.

Threat language pointed at the ballot box

The segment makes Democrats sound dangerous: they "want to shred your constitution ... open our borders, and take a wrecking ball to our way of life in search of their socialist new Green Deal utopia." It then gives one remedy: "This must be stopped by every right minded American at the ballot box in November. That is happening in 47 days." The count is correct for November 3. Because the call to action is about voting and names no person as a target, the danger rating stays at none, even with the harsh language about the opposing party. The post fits the rest of the day, which included three polished endorsements of Virginia House members (Wittman, Kiggans, McGuire). Today's posts are about the midterms, and this clip adds an economic pitch to go with them.

Who picked it

There is no text to analyze for style, so authorship rests on timing and habit alone. A 10:14 p.m. Eastern post, the same evening as a first-person post about watching Fox, fits the pattern of Trump reacting to his own TV viewing. Staff do cut and upload these clips, and the question is only who chose to post this one. The timing leans toward Trump, but only a little.
