Post from Truth Social

Shockingly, Republicans have kept the very important position of “Parliamentarian” in the hands of a woman, Elizabeth MacDonough, who was appointed, long ago, by Barack Hussein Obama and a vicious Lunatic known as Senator Harry Reid, who ran the Senate for the Dumocrats with an “iron fist.” Over the years, she has been brutal to Republicans, but not so to the Dumocrats — So why has she not been replaced? There are many fair people who would be qualified for that vital job. The Republicans play a very soft game compared to the Dumocrats. It is their single biggest disadvantage in politics. The Dumocrats cheat, lie, and steal, especially when it comes to Votes in Elections, but stick together, whereas the Republicans allow the Elizabeth MacDonoughs of the World to stay in power, and brutalize us. We need THE SAVE AMERICA ACT passed, and NOW — And, likewise, kill the Filibuster, which would give us everything! If we don’t pass at least one of these two provisions quickly, you will never see another Republican President again. The Dumocrats will end up with 2 additional States, D.C. and Puerto Rico, and all that entails, including 4 Senators, many Congressmen, and many additional Electoral Votes, and they will also get their dream of a packed United States Supreme Court with their most favorite number — 21 Justices. The Dumocrats will eliminate the Filibuster on the First Day that they get an opportunity to do so. The Republicans aren’t doing it because they say the Dumocrats will never do it, but the Republicans are WRONG. Get smart and tough Republicans, or you’ll all be looking for a job much sooner than you thought possible! President DONALD J. TRUMP

Lengthy, characteristic Trump screed targeting Senate Parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough as linchpin of an alleged Democratic conspiracy enabled by Republican weakness. Authentic authorship indicated by 'Dumocrats' spelling, 'Barack Hussein Obama,' erratic capitalization, stream-of-consciousness drift, and signature signoff, despite business-hours timestamp. Psychologically combines paranoid (concealed enemy with 'iron fist'), grandiose (lone strategic seer), and antisocial (contempt for procedural norms, threat to allies' careers) features. Dominant defenses are splitting, projection (election-fraud accusation), devaluation (gendered framing of a career civil servant), and pathological distortion (false claim that MacDonough was an Obama/Reid appointee — she was appointed by prior parliamentarian Alan Frumin in 2012). Rage ambient rather than acute, with disproportionate intensity directed at a low-profile institutional actor, suggesting an unfavorable ruling as proximate trigger. Rhetorical structure canonical Trump propaganda: scapegoat + conspiratorial origin + existential stakes + branded solution + threat to dissenters. Danger elevated due to public targeting of a named civil servant and pressure to dismantle procedural safeguards, though no direct violent imagery. Consistent with established baseline; no marked cognitive deviation. Of clinical interest as exemplar of paranoid-grandiose institutional delegitimization.

Danger Assessment

Elevated

Indicators:
  • Public naming of a low-profile civil servant for replacement
  • Calls to 'kill the Filibuster'
  • Threat that Republican legislators will be 'looking for a job' if they don't comply
  • Framing of institutional opponent as 'brutal' to in-group
Gaslighting Detected:
  • False claim that MacDonough was 'appointed' by Obama and Reid (she was selected by then-parliamentarian Alan Frumin in 2012 to a nonpolitical career position)
  • Inversion accusing Democrats of cheating votes — a documented Trump preoccupation
Reality Distortions:
  • Parliamentarian falsely characterized as a partisan Obama/Reid appointee
  • Implicit claim that Democrats systematically 'cheat, lie, and steal' votes
  • Prediction that absent immediate action there will 'never' be another Republican president
Fact Checks (5)
"Elizabeth MacDonough was appointed by Barack Obama and Harry Reid"
False

MacDonough was named Senate Parliamentarian in 2012 by her predecessor Alan Frumin upon his retirement. The parliamentarian is a nonpartisan career staff position selected by the sitting parliamentarian and confirmed by the Senate Majority Leader's office; it is not a presidential appointment. While Reid was Majority Leader at the time, Obama played no role.

"Democrats would add DC and Puerto Rico as states, giving them 4 Senators and many Electoral Votes"
Half True

DC statehood and Puerto Rico statehood have been Democratic priorities at various points and would add Senate seats and electoral votes if enacted, but neither has cleared Congress and PR statehood lacks settled support even within the Democratic caucus and on the island.

"Democrats plan to expand the Supreme Court to 21 Justices"
Mostly False

Some progressive Democrats have proposed expanding the Court, with proposals in serious legislative discussion ranging roughly 11–13 justices; 21 is not a mainstream Democratic proposal or party policy.

"Democrats will eliminate the filibuster the first day they have the opportunity"
Half True

This is a predictive claim about future behavior, but it can be evaluated against established Democratic positions and past actions. The evidence is mixed:

Supporting the claim:

  • In 2013, Democratic Majority Leader Harry Reid used the 'nuclear option' to eliminate the 60-vote threshold for most federal judicial and executive nominations (not Supreme Court).
  • In January 2022, then-Majority Leader Chuck Schumer pushed a vote to create a 'talking filibuster' carveout for voting rights legislation. Fifty of 52 Democratic senators voted in favor of changing the rules.
  • President Biden publicly endorsed filibuster carveouts for both voting rights (2022) and abortion rights (2022).
  • A 2021 PBS NewsHour survey found 24 Democratic senators strongly supported reform, with 22 more open to it.
  • Sens. Manchin and Sinema, the two Democrats who blocked the 2022 filibuster reform, are no longer in the Senate, removing the key obstacles to a future change.
  • Schumer has stated voting rights would be a first priority in 2025 with filibuster changes if Democrats controlled Congress.

Undermining the claim:

  • Democrats had the opportunity in 2022 with a Senate majority but FAILED to eliminate or weaken the filibuster due to Manchin and Sinema's opposition.
  • Democratic proposals have generally been for carve-outs (voting rights, abortion) rather than full elimination of the filibuster.
  • In 2017, Schumer himself defended the filibuster, arguing it was essential to prevent the Senate from becoming 'a majoritarian institution.'
  • Currently in 2026, Senate Democrats are actively USING the filibuster to block the SAVE America Act while in the minority, suggesting they may not eliminate it immediately upon regaining the majority.
  • The Democratic caucus has historically been divided on this issue; eliminating the filibuster requires 50 Democratic votes, which has not been achievable.
  • The phrase 'first day they have the opportunity' implies certainty and immediacy that goes beyond what Democratic leaders have actually pledged.

The claim has substantial supporting evidence that Democrats have actively tried and continue to seek filibuster reform/elimination, but the specific assertion that they would do so on 'day one' or 'first opportunity' is speculation, particularly given they failed to do so when they had the chance in 2022. The claim captures a real Democratic policy direction but overstates its certainty.

"MacDonough has been brutal to Republicans but not Democrats"
Mostly False

MacDonough has issued rulings adverse to both parties, including blocking Democrats' minimum wage increase and immigration provisions from reconciliation bills under the Biden administration.

Daily Digest Low-volume day frames a morning institutional attack against an evening of defensive infrastructure grandiosity

A quiet day by Trump's standards — just four posts. He opened late morning with a rambling attack on the Senate Parliamentarian, falsely blaming her appointment on Obama and Harry Reid and signaling Republicans should remove her. By evening he pivoted to defending his D.C. fountain project after rep...
