Post from Truth Social

The supreme court (will be using lower case letters for a while based on a complete lack of respect!) of the United States accidentally and unwittingly gave me, as President of the United States, far more powers and strength than I had prior to their ridiculous, dumb, and very internationally divisive ruling. For one thing, I can use Licenses to do absolutely "terrible" things to foreign countries, especially those countries that have been RIPPING US OFF for many decades, but incomprehensibly, according to the ruling, can't charge them a License fee - BUT ALL LICENSES CHARGE FEES, why can't the United States do so? You do a license to get a fee! The opinion doesn't explain that, but I know the answer! The court has also approved all other Tariffs, of which their are many, and they can all be used in a much more powerful and obnoxious way, with legal certainty, than the Tariffs as initially used. Our incompetent supreme court did a great job for the wrong people, and for that they should be ashamed of themselves (but not the Great Three!). The next thing you know they will rule in favor of China and others, who are making an absolute fortune on Birthright Citizenship, by saying the 14th Amendment was NOT written to take care of the "babies of slaves," which it was as proven by the EXACT TIMING of its construction, filing, and ratification, which perfectly coincided with the END OF THE CIVIL WAR. How much better can you do than that? But this supreme court will find a way to come to the wrong conclusion, one that again will make China, and various other Nations, happy and rich. Let our supreme court keep making decisions that are so bad and deleterious to the future of our Nation - I have a job to do. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! President DONALD J. TRUMP

This post is a psychologically significant response to the Supreme Court's 6-3 ruling striking down IEEPA tariffs — one of Trump's most consequential legal defeats. The response exhibits a textbook narcissistic injury cycle: devalue the source (deliberate lowercase "supreme court," calling justices incompetent), distort reality (reframe the defeat as secretly granting more power), split (idealize "the Great Three" dissenters, devalue the majority), and escalate (threaten "more powerful and obnoxious" use of remaining authority). The institutional delegitimization is notable. Withholding capitalization as punishment, questioning the court's competence, and framing their decisions as serving foreign adversaries (China) all work to erode judicial authority in followers' eyes. The preemptive attack on the forthcoming birthright citizenship ruling signals intent to delegitimize that outcome before it arrives. The core reality distortion — that a devastating legal loss actually expanded his power — represents pathological-level distortion defense. The muddled legal argument about "licenses" and fees suggests either genuine confusion about the ruling's implications or deliberate obfuscation for audience consumption. The danger indicators are elevated but not critical: systematic delegitimization of the judicial branch, implicit signals of intent to circumvent rulings, and framing constitutional checks as foreign-serving betrayal. The closing "I have a job to do" suggests he views the court as an obstacle to work around rather than a binding authority. This warrants longitudinal monitoring for escalation.

Elevated

Indicators:
  • Systematic delegitimization of judicial branch
  • Framing court decisions as serving foreign enemies
  • Implicit threat to ignore or circumvent rulings
  • Signaling intent to escalate executive action despite legal constraints
Gaslighting Detected:
  • Reframing a 6-3 defeat as secretly giving him more power
  • Claiming the court 'approved all other Tariffs' when ruling struck them down
  • Presenting muddled legal reasoning as settled fact
Reality Distortions:
  • Claim that the ruling gave him 'far more powers' when it struck down his tariff authority
  • Assertion that 'the court has also approved all other Tariffs' — the ruling invalidated IEEPA tariffs broadly
  • Implication he can use 'Licenses' for tariff-equivalent actions
  • Characterization of birthright citizenship as making China 'rich'
Fact Checks (3)
"The Supreme Court ruling gave him more powers than before"
False

The 6-3 ruling in Learning Resources v. Trump struck down IEEPA tariffs, removing a major tool of executive trade policy

"The court approved all other Tariffs"
Mostly False

The ruling specifically invalidated IEEPA-based tariffs; other tariff authorities exist but were not 'approved' by this ruling

"The 14th Amendment was written for 'babies of slaves' as proven by timing with end of Civil War"
Half True

The 14th Amendment (1868) was indeed a Reconstruction amendment addressing citizenship for formerly enslaved people, but its citizenship clause was deliberately written broadly and has been consistently interpreted to apply to all persons born on US soil

“The 14th Amendment was written for 'babies of slaves' as proven by timing with end of Civil War”
vs.
“The 14th Amendment had everything to do with giving Citizenship to former slaves”
The source specifically says the 14th Amendment was written for 'babies of slaves' (their children, birthright citizenship), while this candidate says it was written for 'former slaves' themselves — two meaningfully different beneficiary groups. Both serve the same rhetorical purpose (excluding modern immigrants), but the factual claim about who the amendment targeted is inconsistent.
