The day opens on the previous evening

Two posts land at 10:45 and 10:48 PM ET on April 16 — inside the April 17 UTC date, but functionally the tail of the night before. One is a wordless screenshot of Mike Lee urging the Senate to kill the filibuster and pass the "SAVE AMERICA Act" (ts_116417754017474357); the other is eleven words on the Israel-Lebanon ceasefire that had taken effect the day prior: "May have been a historic day for Lebanon. Good things are happening!!! President DJT" (ts_116417764784525982).

Then nine hours and twenty-four minutes of nothing. The next post is 8:12 AM ET. That gap is the most informative number on the day. Trump was in the West — the 4:39 PM post places him at a Turning Point USA event in Arizona with a return flight to the White House, and the event record puts a No Tax on Tips roundtable in Las Vegas the same day — so the overnight window is generous by any timezone you apply to it. Twenty-six posts across roughly eighteen hours of wall clock, with a real sleep break in the middle, falls short of the volume-plus-sleep-loss pairing that would make a hypomanic reading defensible. The burst structure is there; the sleep compression is not.

8:12 AM: a public loyalty ledger

The first waking post (ts_116419983493630857) is the day's clearest piece of character work. Endorsing a story that credited him with having "ruined" Tucker Carlson, he runs down a list: "Tucker is a Low IQ person," "Megyn Kelly, 'Candace' (Really Dumb and mentally ill!)," "Bankrupt Alex Jones, who is completely 'fried.'" Against them, "some that are VERY GOOD, true MAGA all the way, and smart." He then proposes publishing "a list of good, bad, and somewhere in the middle" and asks, "Wouldn't that be fascinating???"

The four named figures share one attribute: each has, at some point, broken from him. The offer to publish rankings converts that into standing machinery — the humiliation is presented as entertainment, which is what the closing question is doing. Intensity 0.60 with no rage; this is dominance maintenance delivered in a good mood, which is a different thing from an attack.

9:06 to 10:58 AM: eleven posts, one subject

Eleven consecutive posts — 42% of the day — are the Strait of Hormuz. The sequence is worth reading in order, because the frame shifts inside it.

At 9:06 the announcement belongs to Iran: "IRAN HAS JUST ANNOUNCED THAT THE STRAIT OF IRAN IS FULLY OPEN AND READY FOR FULL PASSAGE. THANK YOU!" (ts_116420194853200133). Twenty-one minutes later he reissues it in his own voice with the coercion reattached: "THE STRAIT OF HORMUZ IS COMPLETELY OPEN AND READY FOR BUSINESS AND FULL PASSAGE, BUT THE NAVAL BLOCKADE WILL REMAIN IN FULL FORCE AND EFFECT AS IT PERTAINS TO IRAN, ONLY, UNTIL SUCH TIME AS OUR TRANSACTION WITH IRAN 1S 100% COMPLETE" (ts_116420275523158052). An act-of-war blockade rendered in the vocabulary of a closing: "transaction," "business," "100% complete." The two posts are twenty-one minutes apart and cannot both be plain description — a waterway is not completely open while one country's shipping is interdicted, and Iran's negotiator made exactly that point when the strait closed again the next day: "It is impossible for others to pass through the Strait of Hormuz while we cannot."

Credit then gets distributed on a single rule — whether the recipient can be described as having helped him. Saudi Arabia, UAE and Qatar get "your great bravery and help"; Pakistan gets "its Great Prime Minister and Field Marshall, two fantastic people!!!" NATO, which brokered nothing, gets the inverse: "I TOLD THEM TO STAY AWAY, UNLESS THEY JUST WANT TO LOAD UP THEIR SHIPS WITH OIL. They were useless when needed, a Paper Tiger!" (ts_116420456436213944). The call he describes receiving is unverifiable, and its function in the post is to establish that the alliance needed him rather than the reverse.

Two posts carry harder content under the celebration. ts_116420395293904982 claims "The U.S.A. will get all Nuclear 'Dust,' created by our great B2 Bombers," scare-quoting strike residue as a collectible, and declares Israel prohibited from acting against Lebanon — a sovereign ally's military options settled by announcement. ts_116420512192383443 restates the Lebanon carve-out he had already made thirty minutes earlier and then extends the brand by reflex: "Again! This deal is not tied, in any way, to Lebanon, but we will, MAKE LEBANON GREAT AGAIN!"

At 10:40 the claim reaches its most absolute and its least plausible: "Iran has agreed to never close the Strait of Hormuz again. It will no longer be used as a weapon against the World!" (ts_116420562510387829). Iran's foreign minister had said the strait would be open "for the remainder of the ceasefire period." Authorship on this one scores 0.25 — the syntax is clean and the framing is announcement-shaped, unlike the rest of the cluster.

The cluster closes on the tell (ts_116420635683173112). Having declared total victory, he immediately reports being wronged: "The Failing New York Times, FAKE NEWS CNN, and others... are desperately looking for a reason to criticize President Donald J. Trump on the Iran situation, but just can't find it. Why don't they just say, at the right time, JOB WELL DONE, MR. PRESIDENT." He scripts the praise he wants, word for word. The win does not register as a win until it is said back to him.

3:21 to 3:24 PM: nine items in three minutes

Nine posts in 183 seconds, authorship scores between 0.10 and 0.50, and the contents are stale — a Breitbart piece from March 26, a NY Post story from March 24, screenshots dated March 25 and March 31, a Franklin Graham letter dated March 2. This is a queue being emptied, not a person composing. The activity is real and counts toward the day's total; the psychological signal in it is thin, and the items are better read as a content selection than as statements.

One carries elevated danger: a Rapid Response 47 screenshot pairing a mugshot with the claim that the man is "a criminal illegal immigrant from El Salvador and MS-13 gang member" (ts_116421675274870411). Amplifying an identified individual's face to that audience is what the score rests on. No instruction accompanies it and nothing else in the day resembles it, which is why the pattern reading does not hold — one amplification is not a campaign.

Embedded in the run is the day's only break in register: four words, "They were not there for us!" (ts_116421678154340515), with no named referent. It follows a Brit Hume screenshot and precedes the Graham letter. Who "they" are is not recoverable from the post or its neighbors. What is observable is that the grandiose voice dropped for one line and resumed inside sixty seconds — the sole vulnerable-state post against twenty-four grandiose ones.

4:39 PM, and where the record stops

The last post is logistics (ts_116421975390940454): Turning Point USA in Arizona, then "flying back to the White House," with apologies for missing a Mar-a-Lago event honoring Ronny Jackson. Authorship 0.15 — a scheduling note.

The window closes there, at 16:39 ET. The event record describes a posting frenzy beginning at 8:41 PM ET that same evening, running 27 posts into the early hours of April 18 with eight after 1 AM. Those fall on the next UTC date and are not among these 26. If that record is accurate, the measured calm here is the front half of a day that ended very differently, and the moderate frequency and intact sleep window documented above describe the daylight hours only.

Word-level slips

Four in one morning. He misnames the waterway central to his own blockade proclamation — "STRAIT OF IRAN" — in the post announcing its opening. He writes "Hezboolah." He self-corrects mid-clause: "has removed, or is removing, all sea mines." And he opens a post with "Again!" to repeat a carve-out he had made half an hour earlier. Individually each sits inside his baseline; syntax, vocabulary and argument structure hold across all twenty-six posts, and the long-form Hormuz post is as well-organized as anything he wrote that week. Complexity reads stable. The clustering of the errors in a single two-hour window is the part worth logging.

The shape of it

A redemption arc, narrated live. The April 12-13 ultimatum and blockade — the week of "blown to hell," 39% approval, oil above $103 — become, by 10:33 AM, "A GREAT AND BRILLIANT DAY FOR THE WORLD!" Nothing escalated: intensity peaks at 0.65 at 9:27 and 9:57 AM and declines through the afternoon, no post registers rage, and the day averages 0.38. The tension in the record is not anger but the widening gap between what was announced and what was happening. Officials were telling CNN that same week that these posts were damaging the negotiation, Iranian negotiators objected to him "negotiating through social media," and Iran closed the strait again the following day. The victory lap and the thing it celebrated were moving in opposite directions while he ran it.
