What the image shows photo

A photograph of a damaged concrete ceiling and beam, captioned by a white banner above it. A section of concrete has broken away and shows crumbled material and rusted rebar. Pipes run diagonally across the frame: gray and blue-gray ones, a rusty brown one, a red-orange one at lower left and a thin red one at lower right. A yellow object is at the bottom left corner. The photo has no visible logo, building sign or other marking that identifies where it was taken. The banner caption says it shows the Kennedy Center, so the image asserts that the building is in a state of decay.

We are just leaving the White House Lawn on the maiden voyage from the newly built, and very beautiful, Heliport! I want to thank Jim Taiclet, CEO of Lockheed Martin, who made this valuable contribution to our Country. Our Government has been thinking about doing this for 25 years, but was never able to get it done. I get things done! Also, and most importantly, THANK YOU to the Great Construction Workers and Stone Masons of the Washington, D.C., area, who created something very special, and to Clark Construction for its wonderful supervisory work. Video transcript 4:38

For more than 50 years, the Kennedy Center has stood along the Potomac as a living memorial to President John F. Kennedy, in America's home for the performing arts. Millions have come through its doors to experience music, theater, dance, history, and culture. Yet behind the marble facade, above the ceilings, and beneath the foundation, critical systems are failing. Above the iconic walkways, wrapping the building's exterior, lower roof drainage failures have saturated the massive overhead panels, severely corroding the steel supports that hold them in place. One third of these 278 soffit panels require immediate replacement, and over 95% exhibit significant corrosion. Each panel weighs up to 2,500 pounds, suspended 60 feet directly above active pedestrian pathways. In the parking garage, decades of water infiltration have degraded structural concrete and severely corroded structural steel. Temporary shoring towers now hold up deteriorating slabs directly above active drive lanes, while key steel beams exhibit section loss of up to 40%. This degradation reaches further into the subterranean service tunnel and loading docks. Chronic water intrusion has compromised joints and fractured concrete slabs overhead, creating immediate life safety risks across this primary transit pipeline that serves every backstage space. On September 4th, the risk became a reality. In the Grand Foyer, water damage caused a 4 by 5 foot section of plaster to break free from the ceiling and fall 60 feet to the floor. A security officer had cleared the area just minutes earlier. Other locations along the Grand Foyer ceiling show similar signs of trapped moisture and deterioration. Under the front plaza, active leaks threaten the center's primary electrical infrastructure. Because this high-voltage equipment from the 1960s lacks modern downstream disconnects, major repairs or component failures require shutting down power to two-thirds of the building. The central chillers and boilers that heat and cool the complex are operating years past their engineered service life, leaving the facility vulnerable to catastrophic mechanical failure and rendering basic climate control increasingly unmanageable. And for 30 years, a failed filtration system has allowed unfiltered Potomac River water to contribute to buildup, corrosion, and additional strain on the center's aging cooling equipment. The challenges extend to the stages themselves. Backstage in the Opera House, critical theatrical rigging, and overhead production systems are decades beyond their intended service life. An independent engineering report recommended major replacement as far back as 2002, yet much of that equipment remains in use above performers and crews today. Taken individually, these are major capital projects. Together, they represent compounding systemic failures that temporary shoring and piecemeal repairs can no longer mitigate. This is not about demolition. A planned temporary closure of the main facility is the only path to overhaul these compounding hazards, modernize critical plant and stage technology, and safeguard this national memorial for generations to come. But a temporary closure does not mean silencing our mission. By activating the reach and expanding off-site artistic, educational, and civic programming, the center will remain vibrant while this essential overhaul is completed. It also means preparing for a historic grand reopening, delivering a renewed national home for artists, audiences, and future generations. The work ahead is significant, but so is the opportunity, and lasting stewardship requires action today.

So, I’m asking for the Smithsonian to install the 11-foot Washington statue that was featured at the recent Freedom 250 Grand Prix Race in the Museum’s Flag Hall, and dedicate it this Constitution Day, September 17, 2026.

Immediately design and display a five-year exhibition worthy of the Life, Sacrifice, and Contributions of George Washington.

Then, as soon as it is ready, install a 30-foot Washington Colossus where “Infinity” stands today.

Replace a sculpture that says nothing about America with the man who, more than anyone else, says everything about America.

This is how we should begin to honor George Washington in the lead-up to his 300th birthday in 2032. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP

This is a digitally generated/AI-created illustration in a painterly, oil-portrait style. It depicts George Washington (in 18th-century attire: dark coat, white ruffled cravat/jabot, powdered white hair) seated side by side with a modern rendering of Donald Trump (in a dark suit, white shirt, blue necktie with an American flag lapel pin, styled blond hair). Both men are seated at a wooden table or desk, each holding a white quill pen poised over an old parchment map spread on the table. The background shows wood-paneled walls, a red curtain on the left, a framed picture on the upper right, and a stack of books and an inkwell in the lower left corner. Both figures have serious, stern expressions and are looking directly at the viewer. There is no caption or overlaid text in the image itself.

Screenshot of an article page from AMAC (Association of Mature American Citizens), bylined "by Shane Harris," titled "Trump Makes America a Nation of Builders Again." Below the headline is a photo of Donald Trump standing at a podium bearing the presidential seal, outdoors with a stone building and trees in the background. He is smiling with his eyes closed/squinting, wearing a navy suit, white shirt, and red tie with a small pin on his lapel; a microphone extends toward him from the podium. Below the photo is body text (visible article text transcribed in ocrText) praising Trump for making America "a nation of builders again" and comparing this to historic monuments like the pyramids, the Parthenon, the Colosseum, the Eiffel Tower, and Buckingham Palace. Page is numbered "1" at bottom right.

Text in image: Amac Trump Makes America a Nation of Builders Again by Shane Harris Few American leaders have understood the importance of bold and ambitious projects for bolstering a culture and promoting national unity quite like President Donald Trump. During his second term, America is becoming a nation of builders again – and that may ultimately be one of his greatest legacies. Throughout history, the greatest civilizations have left their mark not merely through words or ideas, but through what they built. The pyramids of Egypt, the Parthenon in Greece, the Colosseum in Rome, the Eiffel Tower in Paris, Buckingham Palace in London – these are not just structures. They are declarations. Strong, confident societies build great things. They leave behind monuments that signal permanence, strength, and vision. 1

A screenshot of page 2 of a printed or typed document/essay in a serif font, praising Trump's "builder" mindset. It discusses historic American infrastructure achievements (Panama Canal, Manhattan skyline, Hoover Dam, Manhattan Project, Apollo program, transcontinental railroad) as unifying national projects, then transitions to praising Trump as a builder-minded president, citing his real estate career, his executive order on federal architecture ("making federal architecture beautiful again"), and his emphasis on American manufacturing. Page number "2" appears at bottom right. No photos or graphics, just text on a white page.

Text in image: The same has been true of the United States as well. America's rise as a global power in the early 20th century coincided with extraordinary feats of engineering and ambition. The Panama Canal reshaped global trade and stands as one of the most impressive infrastructure projects in human history. At the same time, the skyline of Manhattan began its ascent, with steel and glass towers rising as monuments to American industry and ingenuity. Soon after came the Hoover Dam, a project so massive and audacious that it symbolized mankind's ability to tame nature itself. Even in science and technology, America's greatest moments have been rooted in this same builder's ethos. The Manhattan Project cemented America's status as a global superpower and ushered in the nuclear age. The Apollo program achieved what once seemed impossible in putting a man on the Moon, and in doing so rallied the country behind a world-changing endeavor. That is the deeper significance of building. It is not just about economic output or physical infrastructure. Great projects unify a people. They give a nation a shared mission and a sense of purpose. The transcontinental railroad did more than connect coasts; it forged a continent into a single, cohesive nation and rekindled the pioneering spirit that first drove people across an ocean to seek a better life. President Trump instinctively understands this in a way few modern political leaders do. Before entering politics, he was, at his core, a builder. His career in real estate was defined by large-scale projects that reshaped skylines and created lasting physical legacies. That mindset has carried over into his presidency. During his first term, Trump signed an executive order aimed at "making federal architecture beautiful again," a directive he has revived in his second term. The order states that "applicable Federal public buildings should uplift and beautify public spaces, inspire the human spirit, ennoble the United States, and command respect from the general public." That is not a superficial concern. It reflects a deeper understanding that the physical environment a nation creates for itself shapes how its citizens think and feel about their country. Beautiful, enduring architecture fosters pride, signals seriousness, and tells both citizens and the world that America believes in itself. This philosophy also underpins Trump's long-standing emphasis on revitalizing American manufacturing. For decades, policymakers allowed the country's industrial base to erode, shipping production overseas in the 2

Image 3 document

This is a screenshot/photo of page 3 of a printed or typed document — a black-and-white text page (no images, logos, or photos) presenting an opinion essay defending Trump's building projects. It argues that America's manufacturing decline was a cultural crisis, praises Trump's second-term plans for a White House ballroom and an "Independence Arch" near the Lincoln Memorial (both privately funded), criticizes Democrats and media for calling these projects self-indulgent, and contrasts them with California's high-speed rail project, which it says has spent about $15 billion with zero miles of track built. Page number "3" appears in the bottom right corner.

Text in image: name of efficiency while hollowing out communities at home. Trump recognized that America is strongest when it makes things – when it builds, produces, and innovates within its own borders. In this sense, the decline of manufacturing was a cultural crisis as much as an economic liability. The corresponding rise in poverty, crime, and addiction in formerly prosperous manufacturing towns reflected an erosion of the American spirit as much as an erosion of economic opportunity. Now, in his second term, Trump is prioritizing visible projects that reflect a renewed national ambition. Plans are underway for a grand ballroom just east of the White House, designed in a neoclassical style that complements the existing architecture of the executive complex and the nearby Treasury Department. It is intended not as a personal indulgence, but as a functional and aesthetic enhancement to one of the most symbolically important spaces in the country. Even more ambitious is the proposed "Independence Arch" near the Lincoln Memorial, a monumental structure planned to commemorate America's 250th anniversary. Groundbreaking is expected later this year. Like the great monuments of past civilizations, the arch is meant to endure – to stand as a visible reminder of the nation's founding ideals and its continued vitality. Predictably, these projects have drawn criticism from elected Democrats and media commentators, who deride them as unnecessary or self-indulgent. But that reaction reveals more about the critics than it does about the projects themselves. First, both initiatives are expected to rely on private funding, a fact that undercuts many of the loudest objections. More fundamentally, however, the criticism reflects a broader lack of imagination. For decades, the political left has grown increasingly comfortable with decline – offering excuses for why America cannot build, cannot achieve, and cannot aspire to greatness on the scale it once did. The contrast is stark when looking at real-world results. In California, a high-speed rail project has consumed roughly $15 billion in taxpayer dollars with precisely zero miles of track laid and nothing to show for it but endless waste and corruption. It has become a symbol of bureaucratic inertia and overpromising without delivering. 3

Image 4 document

A screenshot of a page (numbered "4") from a printed article or PDF document, showing plain black text on a white background — the final portion of an opinion piece praising Trump's approach to infrastructure and national ambition, followed by an author bio line for Shane Harris, identified as Editor-in-Chief of AMAC Newsline.

Text in image: Meanwhile, in Florida, the privately led Brightline rail system has successfully delivered a modern, functional high-speed rail service, demonstrating what is possible when ambition is paired with execution. Americans, by nature, are not passive or pessimistic people. The same spirit that carved settlements out of wilderness and connected a vast continent still exists today – in entrepreneurs, engineers, and visionaries across the country. What has often been missing is leadership that channels that energy into projects worthy of it. Trump's approach taps directly into that dormant instinct. It is a rejection of managed decline in favor of visible progress. It is a reminder that national greatness is not sustained by rhetoric alone, but by action – by the willingness to undertake big, difficult, and even risky endeavors. In the end, nations are remembered not just for what they believed, but for what they built. The monuments, infrastructure, and achievements they leave behind become the physical embodiment of their values and aspirations. If America is once again becoming a nation of builders, it is also becoming a nation that believes in its own future – and that may be the most important project of all. Shane Harris is the Editor-in-Chief of AMAC Newsline. You can follow him on X @shaneharris513. 4
