This post is the second in a rapid two-tweet sequence responding to fallout from Trump's April 28–29, 2014 Fox & Friends call-in appearance during the Donald Sterling controversy. Sterling, owner of the LA Clippers, had been handed a lifetime ban by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver after recordings of his racist remarks to companion V. Stiviano became public. Research confirms Trump appeared on Fox & Friends, nominally criticized Sterling as "despicable," but framed Stiviano as a "girlfriend from hell" who "set up" Sterling — effectively sympathizing with Sterling by blaming the woman who exposed his racism. Press accurately reported this framing. Trump's claim that his comments were used "in a knowingly incorrect manner" is therefore itself a reality-revisionist position: media reported his own words faithfully; his complaint is that they reported the newsworthy portion rather than his preferred framing.
