One template, filled in for Iowa

This is one entry in a run of Sunday-morning endorsements: Kansas posts for Derek Schmidt, Tracey Mann, Ty Masterson and Roger Marshall, plus a Kansas early-voting notice that links to the same "swampthevoteusa.com" domain. The McGowan post follows that template almost word for word. "It is my Great Honor to endorse," "a fantastic Candidate," "Strengthen our Military/Veterans," "Defend our always under siege Second Amendment," and "Complete and Total Endorsement" all appear in the Tracey Mann and Derek Schmidt posts the same morning. Only the biographical sentence changes ("Brave Iowa Air National Guard Veteran, successful Attorney... President of the Siouxland Chamber of Commerce"). The policy list is modular: "Promote our Amazing Farmers and Ranchers" for a rural district, and "Safeguard our Elections" and "Ensure LAW AND ORDER" added to the Kansas list.

Timing and authorship. The post went up at 15:47 UTC. Daylight saving time ended early that Sunday, so this is 10:47 a.m. Eastern whether he was at the White House or Mar-a-Lago. That is business hours, during a batch release. The signs point to staff: the post copies a stock template, the details are correct and specific (the full name of the Siouxland Chamber of Commerce, the district number given correctly twice), the punctuation is clean, the signature reads "President DONALD J. TRUMP," and it links to a get-out-the-vote site. The capitalized words ("WINNER," "DOMINANCE," "SECURE," "MADE IN THE U.S.A.") belong to the house style the template imitates. They aren't in the irregular places that mark his own writing. Nothing drifts off topic and there are no errors. Whether he approved the list of endorsements can't be known from the text. The wording itself is staff work.

Psychological content. Almost everything here is about the candidate, so there is little to read about the signer. What there is follows the usual endorsement pattern. Trump makes his own approval the thing that certifies the candidate ("He is a WINNER!", "HE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!"). The candidate is valued for loyalty and success, measured against Trump himself. Unlike the Marshall post the same morning, which calls Adam Hamilton "a Radical Left Phony," this post names no opponent and attacks nobody. Democrat Dave Dawson is never mentioned. With no opponent named, there is nobody for splitting, projection or devaluation to work on. The only negative note is the stock "always under siege Second Amendment," a vague sense of threat with no attacker named. The post reads as routine audience upkeep two days before the election. Nothing in it suggests an injury he is reacting to.

Rhetoric. The techniques are ordinary campaign ones: superlatives ("fantastic," "Amazing," "Complete and Total"), a list of slogans standing in for policy content, an appeal to the candidate's character ("Brave," "Proven Record of Success"), and a direct call to vote. Cognitive markers. A template-written post can't show his own speech patterns. Its clean grammar says nothing about his cognitive state either way.

Facts. The biography mostly holds up. McGowan is president of the Siouxland Chamber of Commerce. Profiles say he served in the Iowa Air National Guard before graduate school. He is the unopposed Republican nominee against Democrat Dave Dawson. "Successful Attorney" stretches things. He earned a JD in 2003 and worked at the Justice Department while in law school, but he joined The Siouxland Initiative that same year, and his career since has been leading the Chamber, not practicing law.
