A cable segment ranking him above Lincoln, posted without comment

The video is a TV data segment, apparently from a cable news analyst. The delivery, the use of "Donald John Trump" and the closing joke fit CNN's Harry Enten, though the transcript does not name him. It presents a poll asking Republicans which president they most admire. Trump gets 53%, Reagan 18%, Lincoln 8%. The speaker plays up the gap ("nearly triples up on this," "easily crushing" Lincoln, "six seven times as many") and ends on a wry aside: "I feel like this slide might end up on a printout at his desk." The transcript has one garbled phrase, "the Elon poll showed that he was the greatest president as well." It probably refers to another survey, but the audio is too unclear to say which, and nothing here rests on it.

Trump added no words of his own. The one thing he did was put this clip in front of his followers. Within the clip, the most useful detail is that closing joke. The analyst predicts that Trump will want to keep the slide, and Trump responds by publishing it, which confirms the prediction in public. He either doesn't register the teasing or doesn't care about it next to the ranking. The poll result is what he wants seen.

What the repost seeks

This is supply-seeking: he is looking for admiration, and nothing in the clip responds to an attack or a slight. The material builds his standing by comparison. Trump has measured himself against Lincoln for years, for example in his recurring claim to have done more for some group than any president "with the possible exception of Abraham Lincoln." Here he gets that comparison settled in his favor by a voice he did not hire, from a network he usually calls fake. When a hostile network praises him, he treats it as more convincing than praise from allies. The pattern is selective trust in the news: a disputed source becomes believable when it flatters him.

The defense involved is idealization of himself, done through someone else's words. He doesn't call himself the greatest. He lets a broadcast say "greatest president of all time" about Lincoln and then show him beating Lincoln. Splitting, devaluation and grievance are all absent from this item. Nobody is attacked, so nothing here registers on rage or danger.

Claims carried by the clip

The poll figures belong to the broadcaster. The arithmetic within the segment checks out: 53 against 18 is about 2.9 times, and 53 against 8 is about 6.6 times. The comparison does lose context the speaker partly gives away ("Ronald Reagan who traditionally has won that"). Polls of the president's own party, taken while he is in office, favor whoever currently holds the office. The result measures how loyal the current base is, not how history will judge him, and historians' rankings place Lincoln at or near the top. By reposting, Trump endorses the slide as a historical verdict. He does not state any figure himself, so no claim is attributed to him.

With no text, stylometry gives nothing. The post went up at 17:39 UTC, 1:39 PM Eastern on a Saturday. That is daytime, the kind of slot when both Trump and digital staff share flattering cable clips. Trump has a well-documented habit of saving and circulating favorable coverage of himself, and the analyst's own joke about the printout depends on it. That makes a personal choice plausible, but staff routinely clip and post segments like this. The attribution question is who picked the clip, and the evidence points neither way strongly.
