Front page of the California Post newspaper, Late Edition, dated Monday, August 3, 2026. A large photo shows an older man with light blond hair, a dark suit, white shirt, blue tie and a small lapel pin, looking at the camera with a stern expression. The photo is credited to Getty Images. The headline says Trump is to campaign for common sense against 'failed' Newsom in a California visit, and the large banner reads GOLDEN STATE WARRIOR. A small inset text box summarizes the story and points to page 8. The caption and headline identify the subject as President Trump. This is a news front page, and its framing is favorable to Trump and critical of Gov. Gavin Newsom.

Trump to campaign for common sense against 'failed' Newsom in Calif. visit
GOLDEN STATE WARRIOR
President Trump is hitting the Golden State on Tuesday, The Post has learned — to tout his wins for California, including middle-class tax cuts, a secure border and falling crime rate. The president also fired a pre-trip salvo at Gov. Newsom, declaring his leadership had "failed." "The President will draw a sharp contrast between his common sense agenda and the radical policies of Democrats like Gavin Newsom," the White House said. Trump's last visit was in January 2025, after the fires that ravaged Los Angeles — and led to an executive order that's supercharged the rebuild.
