A Greenland flag-march, rendered as a children's picture

The post has no words of his own. He published a painterly, apparently AI-generated scene: a banner reading "GREENLAND" over an icy mountain, a blond man in a dark navy overcoat seen from behind, and a file of penguins in "red, white and blue knit hats and sweaters," several holding "small American flags," walking toward the peak. The figure has no caption, but the hair and overcoat match how he is usually drawn in memes like this. Read as a statement, the image says Greenland is American territory being walked into and claimed, and the locals are glad about it.

Penguins standing in for a consenting population. The penguins carry the picture. They represent Greenland's inhabitants, drawn small, festive and already in American colors, carrying the flag themselves. A contested claim on an ally's territory, which Denmark and Greenland's government have repeatedly rejected, gets restaged as a voluntary, cheerful procession. Inside the picture nobody resists, because the governed are cute animals who have already signed on. The man stands apart and above them, facing the mountain, so the composition casts him as the leader whose arrival they welcome.

The zoology is wrong: penguins live in the Southern Hemisphere and have never lived in Greenland. This may be a callback to the penguin-and-Greenland imagery the White House circulated earlier in 2026, which was widely mocked for the same error. If so, the post keeps the mocked detail on purpose, as a provocation aimed at the critics, a trickster move that turns the error into an in-joke. That earlier precedent comes from memory and hasn't been checked here, so this reading carries medium-low confidence.

An explorer-sovereign facing empty country. The image is all agency: territorial expansion, a planted flag, a man at the head of a column. Apart from the followers' devotion, it has no communal content. The self-schema it flatters is the explorer-sovereign, a lone figure facing open, empty country, which fits his long-running framing of Greenland as a real-estate acquisition and a legacy item. The story is a frontier tale with no antagonist in frame. Denmark, Greenlanders who object, and the European governments drawn into the 2026 dispute are all missing, so in the image's terms opposition doesn't exist.

Whimsy covering a coercive dispute. The clearest defense is denial by aestheticization. The real dispute is diplomatic and coercive, and at one point it included tariff threats against European states. The image strips all that out and puts whimsy in its place, so the annexation looks settled and harmless. Idealization works in two directions: the self as pioneer, and the subordinated population as willing ("several hold small American flags"). The picture shows no rage or injury. The post reads as maintenance and supply-seeking, keeping a signature ambition in view for an audience primed to enjoy it.

A Sunday afternoon post with no fresh trigger. It went up around 1:50 pm Eastern on a Sunday, one of several media-only posts that day, alongside a shared article about tariffs and an Ohio pharmaceutical campus. The week's events (the Hormuz standoff with Iran, the federal funding deadline that just passed) don't show up in the image. Nothing this week connects Greenland to a new trigger, which favors the maintenance reading over a reactive one.

Ranking an ally's sovereignty below the claim. The image takes the order-restorer and expander position. American status rises and spreads, and the existing arrangement (the Danish realm, Greenlandic self-rule) goes unmentioned, which quietly ranks it below his claim. The hostile content is the territorial claim on an allied country, softened into harmlessness. The image asks viewers to accept the claim as normal and asks them to do nothing, which places it with soft-power normalization.

Nothing in his own words. No text means there's nothing to measure for language. The penguin error belongs to whoever made the image.

Who chose to post it. The open question is who selected the image. Its maker is a separate matter. Digital staff often post AI-art memes like this from his account, and an early-afternoon weekend timestamp fits staff and principal equally well.
