What the image shows: I downloaded and viewed the image. It is a headline graphic reading "Trump Says Breitbart Only Outlet That Covers Him Fairly" (set in capitals). Under the headline is a photo of Trump at his Oval Office desk, with officials standing behind him, holding up a Breitbart printout. Enlarged, the printout reads "First-Ever Midterm RNC Garnered Over 100 Million Live-Stream Views" above a photo of Trump greeting a crowd with flags. The credit reads "Jim WATSN / AFP via Getty Images", which misspells the AFP photographer Jim Watson's surname. The graphic is Breitbart promoting its own Sept. 18 article of the same name, by Mariane Angela. That article uses the same photo, captioned "US President Donald Trump shows a Breitbart printout as he speaks about healthcare."

Did Trump say it? Largely yes. On Friday, Sept. 18, 2026, Trump held an Oval Office event on healthcare (Medicaid most-favored-nation drug pricing). The same day he announced on Truth Social that he was barring CNN, MS NOW and Politico from the White House. CNN, NBC, ABC, NPR, Axios and CNBC all reported the ban, and ABC saw CNN staff turned away and their passes confiscated on Saturday. In the Q&A, Washington Examiner reporter Naomi Lim asked whether the ban would survive a court challenge, since a similar first-term move against CNN had not. The Singju Post transcript records Trump's answer: "I won a landslide, and I get no — I don't get fair press. I get it from Breitbart. I get it a little bit from Fox. Fox is the worst. I think Fox has, frankly, the worst polls in the whole business." NewsBusters (Curtis Houck) and Mediaite (David Gilmour, syndicated on Yahoo) independently report the same words with small transcription differences ("I get it from – a little bit from Fox"). Mediaite is not a conservative outlet.

Why mostly true rather than true: Trump never used the word "only." He named Breitbart as the outlet giving him fair press, but in the same breath gave Fox partial credit ("a little bit") before attacking its polls. Breitbart's article body admits this ("aside from partial credit to Fox News"). The image-only post drops that caveat, so "only outlet" is a compression of what he said.

Context on the photo: The printout is real and comes from the same event, but it is not about fair coverage. It is Breitbart's Sept. 16 article (Nick Gilbertson) on the RNC's figure of more than 100 million views for its first midterm convention in Dallas. The figure was supplied by the RNC and combines Facebook, TikTok and YouTube live streams with cable viewership. It was not independently audited. In his opening remarks, before the Q&A, Trump said "we had over 100 million livestream views… and the NFL had 25… That's from Breitbart." An AP photo by Jacquelyn Martin independently confirms that Trump "holds up a printout of a Breitbart article" during the Oval Office healthcare event on Sept. 18, with Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Mehmet Oz and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. looking on. The graphic therefore pairs the fairness quote from the Q&A with a photo from earlier in the same event.
