A president inserted into the Iwo Jima flag-raising, over a discarded Iranian flag

The post is a single composited image with no words from the subject. What gets analyzed is his choice to publish it. The picture restages Joe Rosenthal's 1945 photograph with a figure resembling Trump "in a navy suit and red tie, gripping a flagpole and planting a large American flag on the deck of a ship." Two helmeted soldiers stand behind him, helping with the pole. At his feet "a large Iranian flag lies crumpled/discarded." The caption in the image reads "It's Our Oil Tanker Now!", which places the scene as a seizure of an Iranian tanker. The historian's event list in front of me does not include a tanker seizure that week. I am reading the image as a reference to one, and I have not confirmed the operation or its details, so nothing here is fact-checked as his claim.

What the image does for him

He takes the Marines' place. The Iwo Jima photograph is famous because it shows six enlisted men, anonymous and bent together over the pole. This version puts a civilian in a business suit at the front of the pole and turns the servicemen into helpers "behind/beside him." That is the grandiose move in the image. Collective military sacrifice becomes one man's personal triumph, and the credit for a naval operation goes to the commander-in-chief.
