Post from Truth Social

John Cornyn never had a problem with the so called “Fund,” which will not benefit me, but rather the great American Patriots who were hunted down like dogs and whose lives were unfairly and illegally destroyed by the Crooked Joe Biden Administration, until after I decided to Endorse and Support his Republican Primary opponent in Texas, who easily won the Nomination for the United States Senate. Perhaps there has never been a group of people treated so badly in our Nation’s history. They are suffering still, many ruined, and I felt that they should be given compensation for what has been done to them. I gave up any payments for myself, which would have been substantial, including for the illegal and unprecedented raid on Mar-a-Lago, my home in Florida, even though many legal experts, and others, including John Cornyn, said it was a shocking and disgusting display of “weaponization” against me. Such an event has never happened before, and hopefully will never happen again! I will always feel that these victims of government abuse should be paid back for what they were forced to endure, their lives have been ruined! Millions of people agree with me, as was proven in my landslide Presidential win, where this was a major subject of debate, and so did John Cornyn, until he lost his Election to an opponent that I Endorsed. Todd Blanche, a good man, should be immediately approved as U.S. Attorney General. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP

Authentic, early-morning self-authored post (high confidence) triggered by Sen. John Cornyn's refusal to support the Todd Blanche AG nomination. The subject reframes Cornyn's opposition as timed hypocrisy — a loyalty-test narrative — while advancing a martyred-benefactor identity ('I gave up any payments for myself, which would have been substantial'). The post oscillates between grandiose (landslide win, endorsement power that 'ended' careers) and vulnerable (persecuted target of a 'shocking and disgusting' raid) states, the characteristic narcissistic oscillation. DARVO organizes the content: perpetrators (prior administration) become abusers, the subject and January 6 defendants become victims 'hunted down like dogs.' Defenses include devaluation (Cornyn), idealization (Blanche), projection, distortion ('illegal and unprecedented raid,' 'landslide'), and rationalization of retaliation as principle. Reality distortions and mild gaslighting are present, but there is no dehumanizing, eliminationist, or mobilizing language — danger level none. Cognitively stable: complex, coherent, goal-directed syntax consistent with baseline, no paraphasia or temporal confusion. Clinically significant primarily as a clean exemplar of loyalty-organized splitting and the benefactor-martyr grandiosity pattern, warranting inclusion for longitudinal tracking of the Cornyn/Blanche grievance cluster.

Gaslighting Detected:
  • Recasting court-authorized search as 'illegal and unprecedented raid'
  • DARVO: perpetrators reframed as victims and vice versa
  • Attributing Cornyn's stated principle to concealed personal motive ('until after I decided to Endorse...')
Reality Distortions:
  • 'landslide Presidential win' (2024 margins were narrow, not a historical landslide)
  • 'illegal and unprecedented raid on Mar-a-Lago' (the 2022 FBI search was conducted under a judicially approved warrant)
  • 'never been a group of people treated so badly in our Nation's history' (sweeping superlative)
Fact Checks (4)
"John Cornyn voted for Merrick Garland (referenced in prior same-thread post and implied history)."
True

Merrick Garland was confirmed as Attorney General in March 2021 by a 70-30 Senate vote; Cornyn was among the Republicans voting to confirm.

"The Mar-a-Lago search was 'illegal and unprecedented.'"
Mostly False

The August 2022 FBI search was executed under a warrant approved by a federal magistrate judge based on a probable-cause showing. 'Illegal' is a contested characterization, not an established fact; a court-authorized search of a former president's residence was novel but lawful in process.

"Trump won a 'landslide' presidential election in which compensation for January 6 defendants 'was a major subject of debate.'"
Half True

Trump won the 2024 election, but the margins (roughly 312 electoral votes and a low-single-digit popular-vote plurality) do not meet the conventional definition of a landslide. Pardons/relief for January 6 defendants were a discussed campaign theme, but 'major subject of debate' overstates its centrality.

"Trump endorsed Cornyn's Republican primary opponent, who won the Texas Senate nomination."
True

Exhaustive cross-referencing across numerous independent, authoritative outlets confirms every element of this claim. In the 2026 Texas U.S. Senate Republican primary, President Trump endorsed Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton over four-term incumbent Sen. John Cornyn. The endorsement was announced on May 19, 2026, roughly one week before the runoff, with Trump calling Paxton 'a true MAGA Warrior' and saying Cornyn 'was not supportive of me when times were tough.'

Sequence of events, per Texas Tribune, Ballotpedia, ABC News, NPR and NBC News: the initial primary on March 3, 2026 was inconclusive — Cornyn finished first with about 43% and Paxton second with about 41% (Wesley Hunt trailed at ~13%) — so no candidate cleared 50% and the race went to a runoff. Trump had said he would endorse 'in short order' but delayed for over two months, ultimately backing Paxton on May 19.

In the runoff on May 26, 2026, Paxton defeated Cornyn decisively. Multiple outlets (CNBC, KUT/NPR, Daily Caller, NBC News) report Paxton won roughly 63.8% to 36.2% — an approximately 28-point landslide across more than 1.38 million votes cast. The Associated Press called the race for Paxton shortly after polls closed. This margin fully supports the post's characterization that the opponent 'easily won the Nomination.' Coverage described it as Paxton 'cruises to big win' and an ouster of the incumbent — Cornyn became the first Texas U.S. senator to lose a same-party primary while seeking re-election in decades. Paxton is now the Republican nominee and will face Democratic nominee state Rep. James Talarico in the November 2026 general election.

The only minor nuance is that Trump's endorsement preceded the runoff (May 19), not the initial March primary; the post compresses this into a single 'Endorse and Support his Republican Primary opponent' framing. This does not affect the substance: Trump endorsed Cornyn's opponent (Paxton), and that opponent won the Senate nomination easily. Claim upgraded from unverifiable to true.
