A friendly pollster's number, posted into a week of contradictory Iran signals

Where the number comes from

Fabrizio, Lee & Associates is Tony Fabrizio's firm, Trump's longtime campaign pollster. That fact decides how to read the post. Showing a win from a pollster on his own team is not the same as citing an independent survey. The chart as described gives no population (registered voters, likely voters, adults), no margin of error and no party breakdown. The question wording also assumes its answer: "the peace deal reached" treats the agreement as done. The fieldwork dates came before the Switzerland round of June 19–21, when, according to the event record, a final deal was still being negotiated under a 60-day ceasefire and an MOU. Respondents were likely reacting to the ceasefire framework, while the graphic's title, "IRAN DEAL," invites the reader to take it as approval of a finished settlement. These points belong to the image. He did not state them in his own words, so they are discussed here and not fact-checked as his claims.

Why this chart, this week

The days before the post were a run of mixed signals on Iran. On June 19 he threatened to resume bombing and "collect tolls" on the Strait of Hormuz, then walked the toll threat back. On June 21 he posted that he would "hit Iran very hard again" while Vice President Vance sat with Iranian negotiators, which drew a formal Iranian protest. The Meloni feud and Italy's opposition to the war added allied criticism on top. Against that background, a chart saying two-thirds of Americans back "the peace deal" does two jobs. It claims public ownership of the peacemaking side of a policy whose other side he has been waving as a threat. And it answers the charge that his threats are undermining the talks, without mentioning the charge at all.
