Post from Truth Social

I am proud to announce the site of the NATIONAL GARDEN OF AMERICAN HEROES. This magnificent exhibition of statues will be located in West Potomac Park, which we are transforming into one of the World's most beautiful public spaces. Right now, it is a totally BARREN field of Prime Waterfront Real Estate along our Mighty Potomac River. When finished, West Potomac Park will be a World Class Masterpiece with elegant Landscaping, and adorned with Beautiful Statues, and be yet another one of my great projects to make Washington, D.C., the Safest and Most Beautiful Capital in the World. The National Garden of American Heroes will feature the MOST BEAUTIFUL collection of statues of AMERICAN HEROES, featuring our Illustrious Founding Fathers, Military Warriors, Religious Leaders, Civil Rights Champions, World Class Athletes, Artists, Entertainers, and MORE. The people of America (and the World!) will come here to learn and be inspired by the "Greats". The National Garden of American Heroes is one more project we are undertaking to honor the 250th Birthday of the Greatest Nation on Earth, THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA! President DONALD J. TRUMP

Indicators:
  • Third-person sign-off 'President DONALD J. TRUMP' is a hallmark aide/staff convention, not Trump's typical first-person voice
  • Polished, structurally complete announcement with no typos, dropped words, or syntactic drift
  • Specific proper-noun precision ('West Potomac Park') atypical of Trump's vague attributions
  • Coherent single-topic structure with no mid-post grievance veer
  • However, idiosyncratic Caps ('BARREN', 'MOST BEAUTIFUL', 'Greats', 'Mighty Potomac River') and superlative stacking are Trump stylistic fingerprints, suggesting Trump dictation or heavy input polished by staff

Fact Checks (3)
"West Potomac Park is currently a 'totally BARREN field of Prime Waterfront Real Estate'"
False

West Potomac Park is an established National Park Service property containing the Lincoln Memorial, MLK Jr. Memorial, FDR Memorial, Korean War Veterans Memorial, the Tidal Basin's cherry trees, and extensive developed lawn/recreational areas. It is not 'barren' — it is one of the most visited and developed memorial landscapes in the United States.

"The National Garden of American Heroes will be located in West Potomac Park"
True

Multiple major news outlets (Washington Post, The Hill, Fox News, CNN, Newsweek, Northern Virginia Magazine, and others) confirm that on May 15, 2026, President Trump announced via Truth Social that West Potomac Park has been selected as the planned site for the National Garden of American Heroes. The site sits between the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial and the Potomac River and currently includes recreational softball fields used by leagues such as VOLO and DC Fray. The project would feature approximately 250 life-size statues honoring American figures. The claim that the garden 'will be located' in West Potomac Park accurately reflects the announcement, which represents the administration's official site selection. Note: while the site has been selected and announced, the project still must clear federal approval processes — it is expected to come before the Commission of Fine Arts in June 2026, and Trump has not yet released detailed timelines or design renderings. Formal NPS, NCPC, and Commission of Fine Arts review is pending, but the site selection itself is confirmed by multiple independent sources reporting on the same May 15, 2026 announcement.

"2026 is the 250th birthday of the United States"
True

The United States declared independence on July 4, 1776; July 4, 2026 marks the 250th anniversary (semiquincentennial).

Daily Digest A low-key, monument-obsessed morning gives way to an evening loyalty cry of 'FREE TINA'

Quiet, stable day. Trump spent the early morning celebrating himself — National Garden of American Heroes site, a statue of himself at Doral, and showing off the White House ballroom construction alongside a photo with Xi Jinping. Midday was routine maintenance: a book plug, a Senate endorsement, a ...
