Post from Truth Social

I have just viewed the clip of the event which took place in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It is a horrible thing to watch. The woman screaming was, obviously, a professional agitator, and the woman driving the car was very disorderly, obstructing and resisting, who then violently, willfully, and viciously ran over the ICE Officer, who seems to have shot her in self defense. Based on the attached clip, it is hard to believe he is alive, but is now recovering in the hospital. The situation is being studied, in its entirety, but the reason these incidents are happening is because the Radical Left is threatening, assaulting, and targeting our Law Enforcement Officers and ICE Agents on a daily basis. They are just trying to do the job of MAKING AMERICA SAFE. We need to stand by and protect our Law Enforcement Officers from this Radical Left Movement of Violence and Hate! PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP

This post represents a clinically and politically significant instance of DARVO (Deny, Attack, Reverse Victim and Offender) applied to a lethal use of state force. ICE agent Jonathan Ross fatally shot 37-year-old American citizen Renée Nicole Good in Minneapolis; video evidence, per the mayor, contradicted claims she weaponized her vehicle. Trump's response systematically inverts reality: the killed woman becomes the violent aggressor, the shooter becomes the victim, a bystander becomes a "professional agitator," and the broader protest movement becomes a "Movement of Violence and Hate." The post pre-empts any investigation by declaring conclusions as fact, using prosecutorial language ("violently, willfully, and viciously") to try the dead woman in public opinion. The stochastic terrorism pattern is present: a target group is identified (Radical Left/protesters), a grievance is articulated (daily attacks on officers), and action is implied ("stand by and protect"). The call to "protect our Law Enforcement Officers" from a named enemy, combined with the justification of lethal force as self-defense, creates a framework licensing further violence against protesters. Multiple reality distortions are employed simultaneously, with the presidential imprimatur lending authority to a narrative contradicted by available evidence. This represents pathological-level distortion defense mechanism in service of maintaining the immigration enforcement agenda against a politically damaging incident.

Stochastic Terrorism Pattern Detected

Indicators:
  • Frames protesters as violent threat to law enforcement, potentially licensing retaliation
  • Labels opposition a 'Movement of Violence and Hate' - enemy construction
  • Call to 'protect our Law Enforcement Officers' from identified enemy group
  • Justifies lethal force against civilians as 'self defense' before investigation concludes
  • Stochastic terrorism pattern: target (Radical Left/protesters) + grievance (threatening officers) + implied action (stand by and protect)
Gaslighting Detected:
  • Presents contested narrative as objective fact ('Based on the attached clip')
  • Pre-empts investigation findings with definitive conclusions
  • Contradicts video evidence per Minneapolis Mayor
  • Reframes killing of US citizen as justified self-defense before any adjudication
Reality Distortions:
  • Fatal shooting of US citizen reframed as self-defense despite contradicting video evidence
  • Victim criminalized as aggressor
  • Witness delegitimized as 'professional agitator' without evidence
  • Isolated incident generalized to 'daily' attacks on law enforcement

Dehumanizing Language Present

Violent Imagery Present

Fact Checks (4)
"The woman driving the car violently, willfully, and viciously ran over the ICE Officer"
Mostly False

Per known events, Mayor Frey stated video evidence contradicted claims that Good weaponized her vehicle. The woman, Renée Nicole Good, was a 37-year-old American citizen who was fatally shot.

"The woman screaming was obviously a professional agitator"
False

Trump referred to a woman at the scene screaming 'shame, shame, shame' during or after the fatal ICE shooting of Renee Nicole Good on January 7, 2026. He later elaborated in a press interaction, calling her 'a very high-level agitator, so professional' and 'a professional troublemaker.' No evidence supports this characterization.

Who was at the scene: Video footage and eyewitness reporting identify the bystanders as (1) Becca Good, Renee Good's wife/partner, who was recording the encounter on her phone and said 'Show your face' to ICE agent Jonathan Ross before the shooting; (2) neighborhood residents who were standing watch due to reports of ICE activity in the area; (3) Lynette Reini-Grandell, a local resident who recorded video; and (4) a physician who attempted to provide medical aid but was blocked by agents. People at the scene were blowing whistles (a common community alert tactic for ICE presence) and yelling at agents.

No evidence of 'professional agitator' status: Trump provided zero evidence for this claim. When the White House was asked for evidence supporting broader 'paid agitator' claims about Minneapolis protesters, no response was provided. PBS NewsHour conducted a thorough fact-check of Trump's related claims that protesters were 'highly paid professional agitators and anarchists' and rated the claim false. Social media posts purporting to show evidence of paid agitators were found to be AI-generated (including a video with Sora watermarks) or recycled conspiracy theories from 2015, 2020, and 2024.

Background of people at the scene: Renee Good was a U.S. citizen, poet, writer, former dental assistant, and stay-at-home mother of three. Her ex-husband stated she 'had not participated in a protest in all the years that he had known her.' Her mother said she was 'not part of anything like that at all.' Becca Good stated they had 'stopped to support our neighbors. We had whistles. They had guns.' The protest movement was documented as overwhelmingly volunteer-driven, composed of community residents, labor unions, faith-based groups, and immigrant organizations. Academic researcher Danielle K. Brown found 'no evidence of philanthropic efforts funding expansive civilian protest efforts.'

Federal investigation into Becca Good: Federal officials reportedly investigated whether Becca Good 'may have impeded a federal officer,' examining her 'possible ties to activist groups' under Attorney General Pam Bondi's domestic terrorism memo. However, her attorney stated there had been 'no contact from the FBI or federal officials indicating Becca Good is the subject of an investigation,' and no charges or evidence of professional agitation were produced.

The 'professional agitator' label appears to be a baseless delegitimization tactic applied to witnesses of state violence, consistent with a documented pattern of such claims. Trump's sole basis for the characterization was his subjective assessment that the screaming sounded 'so professional,' not any evidence about the person's identity, affiliations, or history.

"He shot her in self defense"
Mostly False

Minneapolis Mayor Frey stated video evidence contradicted the self-defense framing. The situation was under investigation. Trump presents as settled fact what was actively disputed.

"The Radical Left is threatening, assaulting, and targeting Law Enforcement Officers and ICE Agents on a daily basis"
Mostly False

While protests occurred around Operation Metro Surge, characterizing this as daily assault and targeting by 'the Radical Left' is a gross exaggeration framing political opposition as organized violence.
