Rep. Cory Mills is in North Carolina trying to rescue Americans. He claims FEMA is largely MIA because it has diverted resources for immigration resettlement: "So that's really where the missing piece is, the Federal piece. Let's go ahead and point out the obvious. FEMA had utilized a large majority of the personnel who should be here taking care of this to be replaced or repurposed for immigration resettlement when we need to be focused on Americans." There's over 170 dead Americans and over 1,000 still missing. This is totally unacceptable and tragic.

Congressman Cory Mills, he is once again on the front lines of this disaster. He does this all the time when needed. First to senior correspondent Steve Harrigan in Maggie Valley, North Carolina. What a heartbreaking story we just heard, Steve, and I know there are many, many more of them out there. All across western North Carolina, Martha, and because many communities like this one are still cut off one week in, that death toll stands at 179, but people here say it's going to keep going up. That's because the only way to find out if someone is dead or alive here, someone has to go by foot, door to door. They use walkie-talkies here to communicate, hand radios to get news, and everything is paid in cash. And when you talk to people and say, "What help have you gotten in the past week from any outside agency?" Most often the answer is nothing. We're not getting the amount of support that we need right now. There are way more people impacted, way more people missing. Definitely, unfortunately, way more people that are going to be found dead in the coming days as far as I believe. And drinking water is the big challenge. Many of the wells here have been contaminated, and they can't reopen the schools until there's running water that could be weeks away. Martha, back to you. Incredible.
