Post from Truth Social

Kathy Hochul, the very unpopular Governor of New York, was the nastiest speaker on Monday evening (at the Democrat National Convention) as it pertains to your favorite President, me. Her total hatred, and statements made about me, had no bounds. I was amazed for two reasons: Number one, I did a GREAT job in New York, employed thousands of people, built some of the most beautiful and successful buildings, and paid billions of dollars in taxes. Number two is that, on the very distinct possibility I will win the Presidency, wouldn’t it be better for the people of New York State to have a Governor who got along with the President? Adversarial relationships are not good in politics! Unfairly, I am before a very biased and hateful New York Judicial System that is appointed and largely controlled by the Governor. With the vitriol displayed by her on Monday night, it is no wonder that the Judges have treated me so badly. The whole system is RIGGED, and companies are leaving because of it!!!

This early-morning post (07:55 AM EDT) is a reactive response to Kathy Hochul's DNC speech criticizing Trump the prior Monday. Authorship confidence is high: the phrase "your favorite President, me" is too idiosyncratic for aide composition, and timing fits the authentic-Trump window. The post follows a characteristic three-phase narcissistic injury response: attack the source (Hochul is "very unpopular," "nastiest"), restore the grandiose self-image (GREAT job, most beautiful buildings, billions in taxes), then issue a coercive warning dressed as political advice ("wouldn't it be better to have a Governor who got along with the President?"). The implicit threat against a sitting governor — conditioning cooperative governance on personal loyalty — is the post's most clinically and institutionally significant feature. The paranoid attribution chain connecting Hochul's TV speech to judicial conduct is a self-sealing conspiratorial construction requiring no evidence and admitting no refutation. Defense mechanisms include splitting, projection, pathological distortion, and rationalization. The "billions in taxes" claim is contradicted by available tax return data. Cognitive functioning appears within baseline — coherent, organized, no paraphasias or temporal confusion. Danger level is elevated not due to violence indicators (none present) but due to the implicit threat against a political official and the continued delegitimization of judicial institutions as a political tool. Narcissistic state oscillates between grandiose (achievements) and vulnerable (persecution), consistent with the mixed-state pattern characteristic of narcissistic injury responses.

Danger Assessment

Elevated

Indicators:
  • Implicit coercive threat against sitting governor — 'wouldn't it be better to have a Governor who got along with the President?' frames retaliatory governance as natural consequence of political criticism
  • Continued delegitimization of judicial institutions — attributing adverse legal outcomes to politically-orchestrated conspiracy undermines public trust in courts as independent arbiters
  • Paranoid attribution chain (Hochul speech → judicial bias) is unfalsifiable and self-sealing — functions as epistemic closure mechanism normalizing rejection of legal outcomes
Gaslighting Detected:
  • DARVO structure: Deny (I did a great job), Attack (she's the nastiest), Reverse Victim and Offender (defendant in fraud trial is the persecuted party; governor exercising free speech is the aggressor)
  • Inversion of causality: frames pre-existing legal proceedings as caused by Hochul's post-hoc convention speech, erasing the documented conduct that prompted the proceedings
  • RIGGED framing as epistemic closure: positions any judicial outcome adverse to Trump as proof of conspiracy, delegitimizing the evidentiary record
Reality Distortions:
  • 'Paid billions of dollars in taxes' — contradicted by released tax returns showing $750 federal income tax payments in 2016 and 2017 and extensive loss carryforwards
  • Hochul's convention speech causally linked to judicial conduct in ongoing proceedings that predate her speech by years
  • 'The whole system is RIGGED' — requires accepting that independent judges coordinate outcomes based on a governor's TV appearance
  • Judicial bias framed as the explanation for adverse legal outcomes, displacing documented conduct that gave rise to the proceedings
Fact Checks (5)
"Kathy Hochul is the very unpopular Governor of New York"
Half True

Hochul's 2024 approval ratings were in the low-to-mid 40s in most polling — below 50%, indicating net disapproval, but not dramatically lower than typical for NY governors of either party. 'Very unpopular' overstates the documented polling picture.

"I did a GREAT job in New York"
Unverifiable

Wholly subjective. His NY real estate career included successes (Trump Tower, 40 Wall Street) and significant failures (multiple Trump entity bankruptcies, 2024 civil fraud judgment). No objective standard for 'great job' exists.

"employed thousands of people [in New York]"
Mostly True

Trump Organization employed significant numbers across NY real estate, hospitality, and construction projects over decades. Thousands is plausible in aggregate across Trump properties and contractors.

"paid billions of dollars in taxes"
Mostly False

Available tax return data (NYT investigation, released returns) showed Trump paid $750 in federal income taxes in 2016 and 2017, and claimed massive losses over many years reducing tax liability. Property and business taxes were paid by Trump entities but 'billions' in aggregate is not supported by available documentation.

"companies are leaving [New York] because of [the judicial system]"
Half True

There is documented business migration from New York, primarily driven by high taxes, cost of living, and regulatory environment. Attributing departures specifically to the judicial system's treatment of Trump conflates a general trend with a personal grievance.
