Post from Truth Social

I love the State of Missouri for every reason in the book, including the fact that it is “loaded up” with truly GREAT people. I also like Endorsing Candidates for Office if I think they’re good, and usually there is a differentiation, usually a big one, where it is not that difficult to do. But Missouri has three great people running for Governor - Jay Ashcroft, Mike Kehoe, and Bill Eigel. All have had excellent careers, and have been with me from the beginning. They are MAGA and America First all the way! I can’t hurt two of them by Endorsing one so, therefore, I’m going to Endorse, for Governor of the Great State of Missouri, Jay Ashcroft, Mike Kehoe, and Bill Eigel. Choose any one of them - You can’t go wrong!

This post is clinically notable primarily for what it reveals through omission. The triple endorsement of all three Missouri gubernatorial candidates is structurally a narcissistic protection maneuver: Trump publicly frames the non-choice as generosity ("I can't hurt two of them") while the functional logic is loss-aversion — a grandiose self-concept cannot sustain association with a losing candidate. By endorsing all three, he guarantees winner-adjacency regardless of outcome. The rationalization defense is deployed smoothly and would be transparent to most observers. The post is unusually devoid of adversarial construction. Surrounding posts from the same period target Kamala Harris, lament U.S. weakness abroad, and mobilize supporters. Here, no enemy appears. This suggests context-dependent register-switching: Missouri's three-way primary offers no obvious foil, and the audience (Missouri Republican primary voters) requires flattery rather than threat activation. The self-positioning as kingmaker whose endorsement is so powerful it could "hurt" candidates it bypasses is a textbook grandiosity expression — the implicit claim being that his favor is a scarce, decisive resource. Stylistically, the post appears authentically composed: characteristic capitalization, mild word-level perseveration ("usually...usually"), informal asides, and a meandering build to the punchline. Posted at approximately 7:25 PM CDT during a Nashville travel day, the timing is consistent with authentic authorship. Danger level: none. No clinical markers of acute distress or deterioration.

  • Informal parenthetical asides ('loaded up')
  • Post time 00:25 UTC = 7:25 PM CDT in Nashville — early evening, ambiguous but plausible for authentic Trump

Fact Checks (3)
"Jay Ashcroft, Mike Kehoe, and Bill Eigel are running for Governor of Missouri"
True

All three were candidates in the 2024 Missouri Republican gubernatorial primary. Kehoe ultimately won the primary and the general election.

"All three have 'had excellent careers'"
Unverifiable

Evaluative claim. Ashcroft served as Missouri Secretary of State; Kehoe as Lt. Governor; Eigel as state senator. Whether these constitute 'excellent careers' is subjective.

"All three 'have been with me from the beginning' (supporting Trump)"
Mostly True

All three were publicly aligned with Trump and MAGA politics during this period. The claim of being 'from the beginning' is imprecise but directionally consistent with their public political postures.
