Post from Truth Social

Former Vice President (thank you President Trump!) Mike Pence has been doing a lot of talking about Abortion lately. He never felt I would be able to kill Roe v Wade and bring it back to the States where, according to all legal scholars, it belongs. He started at no abortion for any reason, and then allowing abortions for up to 6 weeks, then up to 15 weeks, and then, who knows? But it doesn’t matter because the Radical Left Democrats will never approve anything on this issue, and Republicans don’t have anywhere close to the number of Senators necessary to make it matter. Mike has been getting very bad advice from Mark Long, & others. That’s why he’s polling at 1%. With better advice, he would be polling at a solid 2%, and maybe even more!!! Everyone must ask Democrats if they would allow abortions in the 7th, 8th, or 9th month, or allow the execution of a baby after birth, as was suggested by the former Democrat Governor of Virginia. They are the Radicals, not the Republicans!

A late-night authentic post (1:40 AM ET) demonstrating secure grandiose contempt toward a former subordinate who has committed the narcissistic injury of criticizing Trump in his claimed signature achievement domain (Roe reversal). The post deploys devaluation via deliberate comedy — the 1%→2% polling escalation is structurally sophisticated mockery — consistent with grandiose rather than vulnerable narcissistic state. Defense mechanisms include rationalization (framing the state-level abortion position as legally inevitable), projection (Democrats as the true radicals), and deliberate distortion (transmuting Northam's 2019 palliative care comments into "execution of a baby after birth"). The parenthetical "(thank you President Trump!)" written in Pence's voice is a characteristic Trump maneuver: scripting the subordinate's required performance of gratitude while demonstrating dominance. Rhetorical structure is a clean three-act pivot: delegitimize Pence, normalize Trump's position, redirect to Democratic extremism. Cognitive indicators are consistent with established baseline — humor is coherent, argumentative arc intact, no paraphasia or temporal confusion detected. The post reflects political pressure from the post-Dobbs environment and the approaching hush money trial but shows no anxiety bleedthrough, only confident contempt. The "execution" framing of opponents' abortion policy constitutes inflammatory dehumanization of political figures, warranting elevated danger notation despite no direct individual targeting.

Danger Assessment

Elevated

Indicators:
  • 'Execution of a baby after birth' framing dehumanizes Democratic officeholders' policy positions using lethal imagery
  • Violent imagery ('execution') normalized as characterization of political opponents
  • 'Everyone must ask Democrats' functions as mobilization of followers to confront Democratic officials and candidates
  • Repeated escalation of abortion timeline (7th, 8th, 9th month) designed to manufacture extremism narrative around opponents
Gaslighting Detected:
  • Northam's 2019 palliative care comments for non-viable newborns recast as advocacy for 'execution of a baby after birth' — documented event denied its actual context
  • Pence's public critique framed as the aberration from his true (grateful) internal state via ventriloquism, inverting the public record
  • 'They are the Radicals, not the Republicans' — DARVO pattern reversing the victim/perpetrator framing of abortion extremism debate
Reality Distortions:
  • 'Execution of a baby after birth as suggested by the former Democrat Governor of Virginia' — Northam's comments addressed comfort care for non-viable newborns, not elective infanticide; the distortion is rhetorically precise and therefore intentional
  • 'According to all legal scholars' — falsely constructs unanimous expert consensus on abortion federalism where substantial scholarly disagreement exists
  • Presenting Pence's 1% polling as a current metric six months after he suspended his campaign

Fact Checks (5)
"I would be able to kill Roe v Wade and bring it back to the States"
Mostly True

Trump appointed three of the six justices who formed the Dobbs majority (Barrett, Kavanaugh, Gorsuch). The overturning is accurately attributed to his judicial appointments. However, the framing collapses a complex Supreme Court decision into personal executive action.

"according to all legal scholars, [abortion belongs with states]"
Mostly False

The legal scholarship on abortion federalism is substantially divided. Many constitutional scholars argued Roe was correctly decided; others supported the Dobbs majority. The 'all legal scholars' consensus framing is false.

"Republicans don't have anywhere close to the number of Senators necessary to make it matter"
Mostly True

A federal abortion ban would require 60 Senate votes to overcome filibuster. Republicans held approximately 49 Senate seats in early 2024. The arithmetic claim is broadly accurate, though it omits the possibility of reconciliation maneuvers or filibuster reform.

"former Democrat Governor of Virginia suggested execution of a baby after birth"
Mostly False

Ralph Northam (D-VA) made controversial January 2019 comments describing comfort care protocols for severely non-viable newborns born alive following failed late-term abortion procedures. He did not advocate elective infanticide or 'execution.' The 'execution' framing is a deliberate distortion of palliative care context.

"Mike Pence polling at 1%"
Half True

Pence suspended his 2024 presidential campaign in October 2023 — approximately six months before this post. When active, his polling did hover in the 1-2% range in most national surveys. Referencing his polling as a current metric is misleading since he was no longer a candidate.
