Analysis: Link-Only Breitbart Share — Kari Lake on Fentanyl/Border

This post is a bare URL share of a Breitbart article featuring Kari Lake describing fentanyl crossing the border as a "weapon of mass destruction." No commentary is added by Trump.

Context

This is one of several rapid-fire Breitbart link shares on December 30, 2023. Trump was likely at Mar-a-Lago (Palm Beach, FL, EST). The post at 12:31 PM EST falls squarely in business hours, consistent with aide-managed content curation.

Authorship

The absence of any personal commentary, the clean URL formatting, and the business-hours timing strongly suggest this was posted by staff (likely Dan Scavino or social media team). The pattern of multiple Breitbart shares in sequence resembles a curated content dump rather than spontaneous engagement.

Psychological Function

Even aide-posted, the content selection reflects Trump's strategic priorities: amplifying border/fentanyl messaging and elevating Kari Lake (a loyal ally and potential VP candidate at this time). The "weapon of mass destruction" framing deliberately echoes Iraq War WMD language — linking Biden's border policy to catastrophic national security failure.

Rhetorical Strategy

The share fits a broader December 30 pattern: curating narratives of Biden administration failure (immigration, crime, legal overreach) while Trump faces ballot removal challenges. This functions as counter-programming — redirecting attention from legal threats to policy grievances.
