Stephen Miller is a former senior advisor to President Trump. He joins me now. Stephen, I am looking down to read something here. It's a House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan's reaction to Trump's indictment. It's a sad day for America. God bless President Trump. Thank you for joining me during the breaking news. There are people in the Republican Party now that seem to be coalescing around this former president. Is it possible that Democrats have just tipped Pandora's box politically? Well, I sure hope that that's exactly what happens, that the whole of the Republican Party, the whole of the conservative movement, and the whole of the country that cares about the rule of law coalesces around President Trump in this moment. Let me first say on a personal note as someone that was there with President Trump in 2016, flying all around the country, going state to state, to serve in the White House every single day for all four years of the administration. This is a sad day for me personally, as someone who has so much affection and so much admiration for President Trump, who has seen him up close and personal on what a heart he has for this country. Let me also say that I believe history will record today as the day that we cease to be a Democratic Republic and we became a people ruled by an unelected government bureaucracy. You have the Department of Justice deciding who can be president and who cannot be president. It is not a coincidence, as you talked about, that this comes out, this indictment comes out on the same day that we have credible evidence of a bribery scheme that goes all the way up to Joe Biden. It is not a coincidence that this comes on the heels of a Durham report showing how the Department of Justice tried to engineer a coup against the duly elected president of the United States. It is all a message. It is a message saying we run the show, not you. This is our country, not yours. We make the decisions and we get to decide who runs this government. I truly believe that's what's at stake here. - Steven, when you were with the president and you were right next to him and you went around the country, you just explained all of that, did you glimpse any of this could be a possibility? I have to imagine that millions of Americans, no matter how they vote, are in shock tonight. - Sadly, I did glimpse that this kind of persecution would be a possibility because I saw how he represented a mortal threat to the system of business that has governed this country, to the corrupt establishment that has allowed our foreign policy to give away our jobs and our security to China, that has erased our Southern border, that's handed over our decision-making to international tribunals, and that has allowed the rule of law to disintegrate before our very eyes. So yes, I knew, I knew that those who had profited off the system would do anything they could to stop them. I think the most important question for every citizen watching tonight is this. Why are all the forces trying to destroy this country so hell-bent on stopping Donald Trump, so hell-bent on putting him in jail, so hell-bent on framing him as they have since the beginning of the Russia hosts? And I submit the answer is because they know if he gets back into the White House, that he will stop them. - You know, I wanna talk to you about that because we have visited tonight with several people, including the former acting Attorney General under President Trump. It is hard to fathom and heartbreaking to even consider that there would be a tit for tat, that we could as a country watch every time it changes hands politically that it's this instead of leadership of this nation. Can President do, can he do both if he were to get back in office? Can he fend this off, those non-elected officials taking over and deciding justice for all in terms of who the president should be, but also lead the country in such a way that we don't continue in this cycle? - I think in order for there to be a turning of the page, a return to normalcy as the expression goes, there's gonna have to be a complete cleaning house of the corrupt federal bureaucracy. The intelligence agencies, the security state, these are the same forces, as you've reported extensively on this network, that engage in the censorship of American speech online, interfering in our political process. So the first thing that a President Trump would do, the mission that he would give to a new Attorney General, to a new head of the FBI, to a new head of the CIA, would be to say that I'm going to give you a daily progress report on cleaning out everyone from your agencies that is engaged in this heinous conduct between the American people. That is going to be the mission. That's going to be the core mission. - That should have been done after the Durham report. That was part of the deal that the FBI said that they were gonna be part of, that we're gonna get rid of what didn't go well and what got political at the top levels of the FBI against the former President Donald Trump. We're gonna clean all that up. It has not happened, obviously, to the satisfaction of what you would anticipate it to look like on a night like tonight. - The corrupt will never clean themselves up. And that's why, again, this is about the democratic process. This is the last hope to have a country where the American people don't have the illusion of control, but the reality of control. And that means electing a president who is going to impose discipline on the entirety of the security state in this country. And remember, President Trump has nothing left to lose. He has nothing left to lose. So all that's left to be done is to fight this battle and to reform this government. - Real quickly, Stephen, can he still campaign while all this is going on? He's gotta go to Miami. He's got things coming up with cases. What's your opinion on that? - Well, that's the point, though, isn't it? Is that this does interfere with his ability to campaign. It does interfere with his ability to crisscross the country as he did so many times before. And that is the point, but he will fight through it. And we will discover whether or not in this country there is indeed a triumph for the forces of good over the forces of repression that we have seen in recent weeks and months.
