Post from Truth Social

I am pleased to report that after a search, we were able to find the gold (paint!) Driver given to me by my friend & former Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe. It was in a locker, with other clubs, at Trump International Golf Club in Palm Beach County, Florida. It has never been used. Based on the fact that this club was given to me before entering office, I am told that there are no reporting requirements, but I am nevertheless forwarding it to NARA. My company buys thousands of clubs a year!

Fact Checks (4)
"Given to me before entering office"
Half True

Shinzo Abe served as PM December 2012 to September 2020. Trump entered office January 2017. Trump and Abe played golf together in February 2017 and multiple times during the presidency. The claim is plausible only in a narrow pre-January 2017 window and appears strategically constructed to exploit a technical legal exception.

"There are no reporting requirements for pre-office gifts"
Mostly True

The Foreign Gifts and Decorations Act and Presidential Records Act govern gifts received while in office. Gifts received before assuming the presidency are generally not subject to these statutes. The claim is technically accurate if — and only if — the timing claim about receiving the club before office is accurate.

"My company buys thousands of clubs a year"
Unverifiable

A golf resort company operating multiple courses could plausibly purchase large quantities of clubs for pro shops and guest use, but no public data is available to verify this specific claim.

"It has never been used"
Unverifiable

No independent means of verifying condition or use history of the club.

Daily Digest Six Days Post-Arraignment: Sustained Narcissistic Injury Processing Through All-Caps Rage, Target Rotation, and Judicial Delegitimization

A week after his historic arraignment on 34 felony counts, Trump spent the day cycling between furious attacks on prosecutors, investigators, and former allies — and calmer stretches of political positioning against DeSantis and collecting endorsements.
