Analysis: Link Share Attacking DeSantis

This post is a bare URL share of a Daily Beast article mocking Ron DeSantis's book tour as "amateur hour." No original commentary is added — the headline itself serves as the attack.

Context

This fits within a sustained anti-DeSantis campaign visible in surrounding posts from the same day, where Trump attacks DeSantis on Social Security, uses the "DeSanctimonious" nickname, and claims credit for DeSantis's political career. The link share is a lower-effort tactic in this broader devaluation campaign.

Authorship

Posted at 1:07 PM ET (Trump likely at Mar-a-Lago). Business hours, no original text, clean URL formatting — consistent with aide/Scavino posting or Trump sharing from a curated feed. However, the oppositional content and pattern of anti-DeSantis posts throughout the day suggest Trump is at minimum directing the content.

Psychological Function

The post lets a hostile media outlet do the attacking — a form of displacement where Trump amplifies criticism without authoring it. Notably, Trump shares from the Daily Beast, a publication he typically attacks as "fake news," demonstrating instrumental use of media: any source becomes credible when it serves the devaluation function.

Rhetorical Function

Sharing a negative article about a rival without comment is a common social media attack technique — it maintains plausible deniability while ensuring the damaging framing reaches the audience.
