This post is a characteristic narcissistic injury response to Maggie Haberman's book *Confidence Man*, which contained revelations about Trump's presidency including a claim he considered firing Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner. The defense architecture is textbook: pre-emptive discrediting ("boring and stale"), ad hominem cascade against the author ("self appointed head case"), absolute denial ("WRONG, pure fiction. Never even crossed my mind"), and combative reframing ("Just have to fight trouble making creeps"). The specific denial about Ivanka/Jared is notable — the claim threatens his self-constructed identity as a loyal family patriarch, making it particularly injurious. The assertion of epistemic monopoly ("anyone who would know, like me") reveals a characteristic schema: only Trump can narrate Trump. The gaslighting dimension is significant — dismissing a Pulitzer-winning journalist's sourced reporting as having "zero fact checking" while providing no counter-evidence. The mixed narcissistic state oscillates between grandiose ("I would know") and vulnerable/persecuted ("Here we go again," "Just have to fight"). This pattern of absolute denial without alternative explanation is consistent with pathological-level defense mechanisms.

Here we go again! Another Fake book is out, this one, supposedly very boring and stale, by self appointed head case, Failing (unfunded liability!) New York Times writer, Maggie Hagerman. In it she tells many made up stories, with zero fact checking or confirmation by anyone who would know, like me. In one case she lies about me wanting to fire my daughter, Ivanka, and Jared. WRONG, pure fiction. Never even crossed my mind. Just have to fight trouble making creeps like Maggie, and all the rest!
