Analysis: Breitbart Share on Don Lemon's CNN Demotion

Context

This post is one of several link-shares on September 22, 2022—a day when Trump faced extraordinary legal pressure from the NY AG fraud lawsuit, adverse 11th Circuit ruling, and Special Master Dearie's challenges. None of the day's posts address these legal threats directly.

Psychological Function

The post serves as displacement: rather than engaging with serious legal setbacks, Trump (or his team) curates content celebrating a media rival's professional decline. This pattern of focusing on enemies' misfortunes during personal crises is well-documented in Trump's posting behavior.

The schadenfreude element—sharing news of Don Lemon's move from primetime to a morning show framed as a demotion—reflects the scoreboard mentality characteristic of high-agency, status-motivated personality organization. Lemon, as a frequent Trump critic, functions as an out-group target whose misfortune reinforces the narrative that Trump's critics ultimately fail.

Rhetorical Note

The post contains no original language, relying entirely on the Breitbart headline to convey the devaluation. This minimalist approach is consistent with aide-curated content sharing, though Trump himself frequently shared articles with minimal commentary.

Assessment

Low-intensity, routine post. Psychologically interesting primarily in context—the complete avoidance of major legal developments across the day's posting pattern suggests coordinated deflection or avoidance coping.
