Location and timing

Two of the photos were taken in the Oval Office, and a regular Monday White House schedule fits the timestamps. Trump was most likely in Washington, D.C., on Eastern Daylight Time (UTC−4). Converted, the 15 posts run from 10:54 PM Sunday (April 19) to 3:01 PM Monday. There was no posting between 11 PM and 7:46 AM. Every post on Monday itself went up in daytime or business hours. That rules out overnight posting as a sign of lost sleep. Fifteen posts is an ordinary volume for this period, and nothing about the pacing points to hypomania.

The day came in three phases:

• Sunday late evening (10:54 PM): two Newsmax link-shares in the same minute.
• Monday morning (7:46 AM, 10:16 AM): one economy link, then his first long post in his own voice.
• Monday afternoon (1:35–3:01 PM): four long Iran posts in 53 minutes, then three photos and four self-reposts inside about two minutes.

From borrowed praise to his own grievance

The day began with other people's praise. ts_116434773211303526 ("McLaughlin Poll: Voters Back Trump on Iran") and ts_116434776225677515 ("Ruddy: Trump Already Won the War With 9 Victories") are bare title-plus-URL shares from a friendly outlet. Their authorship scores were low (0.20, 0.35), which suggests staff picked them. Their job was to lock in a verdict before events could overturn it: the war "Already Won," with the ceasefire still running and the naval blockade still in place. The morning economy share (ts_116436865777263574, "resilient consumer") is the same kind of post, with the lowest intensity of the day.

The first post clearly in Trump's own voice changes the register. ts_116437457191403164 (10:16 AM) opens with a denial nobody in the post had raised: "Israel never talked me into the war with Iran." It moves on to "IRAN CAN NEVER HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON," then to the media ("90% of what they say are lies and made up stories"), then polling ("the polls are rigged"), and ends on the 2020 election. The post-level analysis rates it the first elevated-danger post and describes it as moving from topic to topic. The afternoon cluster: escalation and its peak

Anger built gradually through the day, then spiked. Rage scores ran from nothing overnight, to 0.50 at 10:16 AM, 0.40 at 1:35 PM, and a peak of 0.65 at 1:40 PM, then eased to 0.55 at 2:11 PM. The last three written posts carried no rage.

• ts_116438239629407600 (1:35 PM) sets out the redemption story: Obama and Biden's JCPOA was "a guaranteed Road to a Nuclear Weapon," and Trump's deal will be "FAR BETTER." The analysis flags a new, invented detail attached to a story he has told for years: Obama "emptied out all of the Cash from Banks in D.C., Virginia, and Maryland." It also flags the inflated "Hundreds of Billions" figure. A named Washington Post journalist is attacked, so press commentary may have set this post off.
• ts_116438260195246849 (1:40 PM) is the peak and the one post rated as a reaction to narcissistic injury. It answers reports that he was under pressure with "THIS IS NOT TRUE!" It defends his timeline by listing how long World War I, World War II, Korea and Vietnam lasted, figures that look staff-supplied, written into his own voice. It calls the opposition party "TRAITORS ALL." Treating domestic critics as traitors during active hostilities erases the line between a foreign enemy and a domestic critic. The post then attacks the "Failing New York Times," the "absolutely horrendous and disgusting Wall Street Journal," and the "now almost defunct, fortunately, Washington Post" as outlets that would have readers "think we are losing." It then ties the war coverage to 2020 in so many words: "Just like these unpatriotic people used every ounce of their limited strength to fight me in the Election, they continue to do so with Iran." Two unrelated fights become one story of persecution.
• ts_116438448094769480 (2:28 PM) is short and mocking: "The Iranian leadership has forced hundreds of Ships toward the United States, mostly Texas, Louisiana, and Alaska, to get their Oil — Thank you very much!" The anger is gone and the grandiosity is intact.

Measured against what set it off, the anger was out of proportion. The trigger was press reporting and polling unfavorable to him. The response was to call a major political party traitors and some of the country's largest newspapers "Anti-America."

The close: medals and self-reposts

Internal tensions

• Polls. At 10:54 PM Sunday he shared a poll as proof that "Voters Back Trump on Iran." At 10:16 AM Monday he wrote "the polls are rigged." Polls count when they agree with him and are fraudulent when they don't.
• Victory and deal. The Ruddy share says the war is "Already Won" and the 2:11 PM post calls it won "BY A LOT," with regime change done. The 1:35 PM post, though, is about a deal "that we are making," and the 1:40 PM post defends a war that has run past the timeline he promised. Someone who has already won does not usually need to explain why the war is taking so long.

Events

The posts line up with the last stretch before the April 22 ceasefire deadline. Negotiators were headed back to Islamabad, and Iran was publicly rejecting that second round and calling U.S. demands "childish." The 1:40 PM and 2:11 PM posts deny pressure and attack Iran war critics, which matches a researched event: long posts insisting he was under no pressure, which his own officials later said were hurting the talks. That reporting counts words from April 21, so this afternoon's cluster may be part of the same run or may have come just before it. The oil-ship post fits the naval blockade and the seizure of the ship Touska without mentioning either one. Every Iran post leaned toward attack rather than reassurance. Risk
