A template endorsement, three days before the midterms

This is one of at least six Florida endorsements posted on October 31, 2026, the Saturday before the November 3 midterms. They went out in rough ballot order: State House District 94, then Congressional Districts 1 through 4, then the statewide Agriculture Commissioner. The sibling posts are built from the same parts. Each has a superlative opener, a biographical paragraph, and the same policy list ("Grow our Economy, Cut Taxes and Regulations, Champion American Energy DOMINANCE, Promote MADE IN THE U.S.A., Keep our Border SECURE, Stop Migrant Crime... Protect our always under siege Second Amendment"). Each closes with "Complete and Total Endorsement" and a capitalized vote call. Two candidates in the same day's batch are described as having "been with us from the very beginning" (Weinberger and Simpson). That phrase comes from a stock list, and it isn't evidence about either person.

Who wrote it

The post went up at 3:22 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (DST ended the next morning). His location that day isn't confirmed, but both residences he uses are on Eastern time, so the timestamp lands in office hours either way. The structure points to staff. The biography is accurate and specific: "Fifth Generation Floridian," "lifelong Egg Farmer," "former President of the State Senate." The policy list is copied from the posts before and after it. It runs with no errors, no drift and no tangent. The scare-quoted idioms ("Home," "loaded up") and the capitalized nouns are features of Trump's voice, but endorsement writers have long imitated them.

One clause is less templated: "my 'Home' State, which I love and won SIX times, including with 6.1 Million Votes in 2024, the most in History (BY FAR)!" It's the only place where the post turns from the candidate to the endorser. It works the endorser's own vote record into the opening sentence of someone else's endorsement. This is the most plausible spot for Trump's own input, whether he dictated it or it's a stock line he approved. Even so, it's grammatically clean and probably reused in other Florida posts.

What the post shows about the endorser

Endorsing someone is a way of giving status, and here the giving is also a chance for self-reference. Before the reader learns anything about Wilton Simpson, they get Trump's six Florida wins and a statewide record "(BY FAR)." Simpson's worth then comes from closeness to Trump: "A true America First Patriot, who has been with us from the very beginning." The phrase "with us from the very beginning" is a loyalty credential. It values the candidate for how early he aligned with Trump, ahead of any agricultural record. That fits a long-running pattern where the endorsement is the transaction and loyalty is what gets paid back.

Defenses show up only lightly. The candidate is idealized ("incredibly effective," "He will never let you down") with no qualification. The world is split into protected goods ("our amazing Farmers and Ranchers") and threats ("Migrant Crime, Murderers, and other Criminals"). "always under siege Second Amendment" brings in a standing sense of siege without naming who is doing the besieging. That makes it threat-maintenance boilerplate rather than a reaction to any trigger.

Rhetoric and the border item

The border-and-crime list is imported wholesale into an agriculture office's endorsement, so a farm regulator is described as stopping "Murderers" from crossing the border. Florida's agriculture department does have a small law-enforcement division. Still, the item is there because it's in the template, not because of anything in Simpson's job. Linking migrants with murderers carries the familiar criminalizing frame. Here it's generic and not aimed at any group or person, and there's no call to act beyond voting. The linked site (swampthevoteusa.com) is a turnout page, and the post doesn't rest any claim on it.

Fact Verification

The 2016 cycle: on September 30, 2015, the Jeb Bush campaign named 20 of Florida's 26 state senators as backing Bush for president, and 'State Senator Wilton Simpson' is number 18 on that list (Bush campaign release archived at p2016.org). A Miami New Times article about the same endorsements also names him. Trump was Bush's rival in that primary. Searches found no record of Simpson endorsing Trump at any point in the 2016 primary. In that period, coverage of Simpson is about his own Senate District 10 race and his appointment as Senate majority leader in November 2016.

The 2020 to 2022 period: Trump's May 11, 2021 Save America PAC statement endorsing Simpson for agriculture commissioner said 'Wilton has been a great supporter and worked hard to get many good Conservatives elected in Florida.' Search results also attribute to that statement credit for the 2020 Florida win. So Simpson can be counted a Trump ally by about 2020-21, which is five years after Trump's campaign began.

The 2024 primary: through 2023, much of Florida's Republican delegation (Rick Scott, Gaetz, Donalds, Luna, Mast, Waltz, Steube and others) endorsed Trump over DeSantis. Searches found no Simpson endorsement of either candidate in that period. Simpson endorsed Trump on January 21, 2024, the day DeSantis left the race and endorsed Trump. Florida Voice News dates his statement to that day and reports it came after DeSantis's exit. His post said in part, 'It's time to unite behind Donald J. Trump and Make America Great Again!' He was later a 2024 Trump elector (Wikipedia category), and Trump endorsed his reelection in October 2025.

The phrase itself: as the first-pass analysis noted, the same day's batch of Florida endorsements also used 'been with us from the very beginning' for another candidate (Weinberger). That points to a stock phrase rather than a claim about Simpson's history.

Why this verdict: Simpson really has supported Trump since at least 2020. But read literally, 'from the very beginning' means the 2015-16 campaign, and he backed Jeb Bush then. He also stayed out of the 2023 Trump-DeSantis fight until DeSantis dropped out. The claim fails on its plain meaning. It is graded mostly false rather than false because the broader point, that Simpson is a longtime Trump ally, has some basis from 2020 onward. |
