A form letter in district order

This is one post in a Saturday-afternoon run of Florida House endorsements. The previous posts cover FL-18, FL-19, FL-21, FL-22 and FL-25. It posted at 19:15 UTC, which is 3:15 p.m. Eastern (daylight time was still in effect until November 1), three days before the November 3 midterm. The text matches the Scott Franklin (FL-18) post almost clause for clause. Only the name, the district and the service credential change: "A U.S. Naval Academy Graduate and retired Navy Commander, Scott knows the Wisdom and Courage that is required to Defend our Country" becomes "A Former Captain of the U.S. Army JAG Corps, Greg knows the Wisdom and Courage that is required to Defend our Country." The policy list that follows ("Keep our Border SECURE, Stop Migrant Crime, Ensure LAW AND ORDER, Grow our Economy, Cut Taxes and Regulations, Promote MADE IN THE U.S.A.... Unleash American Energy DOMINANCE") is a stock block shared across the batch, and only its order shifts between posts. The ALL CAPS falls on slogans and is the same in every post of the series, so it shows house style and says nothing about his mood when posting. There are no typos, no drift and no first-person aside, and the post ends in the standard sign-off, "President DONALD J. TRUMP", followed by a campaign turnout link. All of this points to a staff-produced template. His contribution is most likely the decision to endorse, not the wording.

Two templates: incumbents and challengers

The batch shows a pattern. Challengers (Singer in FL-25, Askar in FL-22) get an attack paragraph about the Democratic opponent, with "Dumocrats" and "Radical Left" and claims that the opponent voted against "NO TAX ON TIPS". Incumbents (Steube, Franklin, Mast) get a résumé and a policy list, and no opponent is mentioned. Hostility goes only where a seat is contested and a named enemy is useful. Steube's district is safely Republican, so the post has no adversary in it. That missing adversary is what keeps this post's psychological profile low: the persecution schema that drives much of his own writing never comes into play. The only trace of threat framing is "our always under siege Second Amendment", a stock clause that names no attacker.

What the endorsement does

The ally is idealized, and the idealization rests on loyalty and reliability: "tremendous Representative", "Complete and Total Endorsement", "HE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!" The patron grants status and the client is described by how dependable he is. In archetype terms this is the King handing out favor. The order/chaos position is order-restorer ("Ensure LAW AND ORDER", "Keep our Border SECURE"), and the order is offered to "the Great People of Florida's 17th Congressional District." The rhetoric is superlatives and slogan repetition, plus an implied fear appeal in "Stop Migrant Crime". That phrase presupposes a distinct crime wave caused by migrants, which the research literature on immigrant offending rates does not support. Here it is a campaign slogan, not a specific claim. None of the language dehumanizes anyone or points to a target for action.

Facts

Both checkable biographical claims hold. Steube has represented Florida's 17th District since January 2019, and he served as an officer in the U.S. Army JAG Corps, including in Iraq, leaving as a captain. The policy list describes his legislative priorities in campaign terms and is not a factual record.

For longitudinal work, the post is useful mainly as a control. It is an aide-template baseline that his own late-night posts can be measured against. Cognitive markers cannot be read from staff copy.
