Post from Truth Social

Let’s talk about this COMPLETE AND TOTAL LOSER, Bill Maher. He’s got a Low Rated Show on equally Low Rated HBO, which was once, long ago, a Network of Quality and Excitement — But that’s all gone. It’s not “HOT” anymore! Maher’s friend and business associate, Chuck LaBella, was also a friend of mine, worked on The Top Hit Show, The Apprentice, as a “gofer” and, because of the success of that show, Number One and Top Rated on many weeks, with the Finale’ being among the Top Shows of the Year, he was automatically and quickly brought up through the Ranks of NBC, along with everyone else associated with that Historic “Happening.” The Success of the Apprentice was so great that everyone partook — It built many careers, and that is a wonderful thing. Some people say it even built my career, because I became President (I would have won without it!). In any event, over the last few years, LaBella would call me nonstop to say, “Hello,” be very nice, and tell me how much Bill Maher “loves” and respects me, and would constantly ask of me, even before I was President, for any form of meeting with Maher and, would I do his show? When I became President, I agreed to meet, after the first one, and the last one, but never agreed to do his show, which he wants me to do, DESPARATELY — It won’t happen! When I have watched the show, which isn’t often, it always ends with dishonesty, about me at least, but, who cares? He doesn’t think it was a good thing to take the Nuclear Weapon away from Iran, which shows you that he is not very smart. If I allowed them to obtain a Nuclear Weapon, the World would be a different place right now! Using Fake Polls, he also said I had my Lowest Ratings so far, “and even the Republican Party doesn’t like him,” but that’s not true. I have High Ratings and, more importantly, he said that I’m losing the support and approval of the Republican Party when, in fact, CNN just came out with a Poll showing that I’m at 98 and 99% support within the Republican Party, an All Time Record High. Ronald Reagan was at 86%. CNN’s Harry Enten also said I am “The Most Influential President of the Last Century.” CNN did another Poll at who was the Most Popular Person in the History of the Republican Party, and I won that, too, with me being at 53%, Ronald Reagan being at 18%, and Abraham Lincoln being at 8%, and these are CNN Polls, people not exactly in love with me, so, Bill Maher lied, but he lies about everything, and I believe he lied to me when I asked him, with all the applause and laughter he gets after almost everything he says, about thing that aren’t funny or even any good, what Laughter Machine does he use? People can’t think he’s funny. I didn’t know Bill, he didn’t know me, and that was OK. Then Chuck LaBella, and my friend, Kid Rock, called me incessantly about meeting with Bill Maher. My first response was, “Fellas, this guy’s a Goofball.” They said, “He wants to go down to the White House, be with you, and talk. He said you’re very smart, but you’re not into the Liberal Platform. Will you start thinking about it?” He invited himself to the White House! We had our first meeting, Bill was very nervous. He asked for a drink. He was very insecure, and he had a seriously bruised eye and nose area, as though somebody had just beaten him up — But it wasn’t me!

No sooner had we had that first dinner at the White House, which is a very seductive and beautiful place, especially now that I have fully renovated and fixed it in the style which it deserves, Bill wanted to come back. The Gofer called me multiple times, saying how much Bill loves me, that he respects me more than anybody, and wants to come back for a second meeting. After ten calls from Chuck LaBella, it seemed that these guys were serious, and wanted to learn more, because their Policies are so bad, it’s ridiculous! Also, I wanted to tell Bill that he’s a major POTHEAD. He’s got to stop, it’s very bad for his health. He looked like hell this time. Bill was drunk and had alcohol in his hand as he walked through the White House. Stephen A. Smith and Kid Rock came along with him. Overall, I thought it was a good meeting. It didn’t last four hours, it lasted two hours, maybe less, and everybody was happy. We have the timestamps. I learned nothing, and felt it was a waste of time. After the first dinner, Bill Maher was friendly, I guess, everyone walked away pleased. He gave me a good first show, with lots of Laughing Machine laughter, which is a real term, but it is what it is, and then reverted back to his former self, and his old ways. I understand that. He’s doing his thing. I never took it very personally. I would always mock his Low Ratings, whenever I heard. He’s not a nice guy, and what he spouts isn’t what he believes. He has to cater to his base, which is mostly composed of Losers, and people who don’t like working. It’s why, for so long, I didn’t get another call from Chuck LaBella, and I didn’t miss him one bit. After the second dinner, Bill’s “show” was far worse than the first. He went crazy! He’s gutless, because he enjoyed every minute. Also, I am not a building a swimming pool in the White House Briefing Room, and never had any intention of doing so. I am thinking about moving the Press, and putting them in a different location, but I will use that location for very badly needed space. Bill also attacked our Great Republican Candidates, when he knows my Endorsement Record is 98% in the House, and 100% in the Senate, so how can he make a false statement like this? These Statistics are FACTS, and he should speak about them, but he won’t, because he is very unfair!

Karoline Leavitt was GREAT on the show, but she started with a biased, dumb SLEAZEBAG, asking questions. She defended me, and herself, so well, but couldn’t be comfortable going against Lie after Lie. Importantly, Bill lied about all of the Illegal Voters in the Radical controlled, decrepit, and devastated State of California. Just in the last few days alone, they found 20,000, and the number could easily go to over 1,000,000. There were so many other falsehoods Bill spewed, but I won’t waste time in FACT CHECKING him. He isn’t worth it. Bill: Don’t call anymore. It’s useless, and tell Chuck LaBella not to call so much, and say how much you love “TRUMP,” and want to get together, because you’re a hopeless guy, who is just trying to cater to your small group of “fans.” You’re also a coward who is afraid to tell the truth about how well our Country is running because of your few “fans,” and how badly the Dumocrats have done, almost destroying the U.S.A. If I hadn’t won the Election, it would be DEAD! Also, turn your Laugh Machine off, it’s a joke when they laugh uncontrollably, even when you say nothing funny, and I’m going to have the Republicans not cover you anymore, because they try to talk about you as a guy who is transformative. You’re not transformative, you’re a Loser! I never watched your show much, but I will never watch it again, because it is nothing more than FAKE NEWS that America, and the World, is unfortunately subjected to. Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP

A roughly 1,400-word reply to a Real Time episode in which Bill Maher said Trump's approval had dropped, including among Republicans. Most of the post tells a story in which Maher and his producer friend chased Trump for meetings ("ten calls," "DESPARATELY," "He invited himself to the White House!"), which places all the need on Maher while the post itself shows sustained attention to him. The two dinners are first described as pleasant and then as betrayed by Maher's later monologues. Lines contradict each other without the author noticing: "a good meeting" next to "a waste of time," and "I never took it very personally" inside allegations that Maher is a "major POTHEAD," was "drunk" at the White House, and had a bruised face "as though somebody had just beaten him up — But it wasn't me!" The rebuttal leans on figures that don't hold up: a "98 and 99%" CNN poll that matches no CNN result, a nuclear weapon "taken away" from an Iran that never had one, and a disputed DOJ list of 20,000 registrations turned into "Illegal Voters" that "could easily go to over 1,000,000." The syntax breaks down where the timeline gets tangled ("I agreed to meet, after the first one, and the last one"), and the "Laugh Machine" comes back four times. All of this is in line with his recent long grievance posts. What stands out is how far one entertainer's criticism carried him.

Fact Checks (9)
"He took the nuclear weapon away from Iran"
Mostly False

Iran did not possess a nuclear weapon. U.S. strikes damaged enrichment facilities and set back the program, but no weapon was taken away; the phrasing presupposes possession.

"A CNN poll shows him at 98 and 99% support within the Republican Party"
Mostly False

No CNN/SSRS poll in the record shows that figure. CNN's own polling put Republican approval around 80% in spring 2025. Trump previously credited CNN with a 100% figure that came from an NBC subsample of self-identified MAGA voters, which CNN's Jake Tapper corrected on air.

"Ronald Reagan was at 86% support within the Republican Party"
Mostly False

The post sets this figure against Trump's claimed "98 and 99%" as the old record he beat. No standard measure of Reagan's standing with Republicans comes out at 86%.

  • Peak: Reagan reached 94% approval among Republicans in Gallup polling in December 1984, according to CNN's July 2019 fact check of an almost identical Trump claim. That was the tweet "Ronald Reagan was 87%," plus a June 2019 Piers Morgan interview in which he said "Ronald Reagan was the highest at 86." The same fact check says Reagan left office at 93% with Republicans.
  • PolitiFact's 2018 Gallup table also gives Reagan's highest rating among Republicans as 94%.
  • Average: the American Presidency Project at UCSB, working from Gallup data, puts Reagan's average approval among fellow partisans over both terms at 83.2%. Its table puts Trump's second term at 87.3% through May 1, 2026. Reagan's peak was therefore well above 86% and his average was below it.
  • Reagan's numbers moved around a lot (Gallup had him at 74% among Republicans in mid-1982), so some single poll probably did show 86%. Even so, 86% is neither his ceiling nor his average, and the claim that it is the mark Trump surpassed is false.
  • Trump has repeated this figure for years, including a September 18, 2026 Truth Social post ("Second place is Ronald Reagan at 86%") whose source Raw Story could not identify.
"CNN's Harry Enten said he is 'The Most Influential President of the Last Century'"
Half True

Enten did call Trump the most influential president, but of this century, not the last one, and the phrase in quotation marks in the post is not his.

  • The segment aired on CNN Newsroom with Omar Jimenez around August 2, 2025, and was covered by Fox News, Mediaite and The Independent (via Yahoo) on August 4, 2025.
  • Enten said: "I can't think of a more influential president during this century, and it starts here with tariffs."
  • Pressed further, he hedged: Trump is the most influential "certainly this century and probably dating a good back chunk into the 20th century as well."
  • Headlines across the coverage read "most influential president this century."
  • I found no 2026 segment in which Enten made a stronger statement.

Trump's version replaces "this century," with its "probably" hedge about the 20th century, with a definitive "of the Last Century." That stretches what Enten said into a bigger claim. The core is real (a CNN analyst on air calling Trump the most influential modern president), but the scope is inflated and the words were never said.

"A CNN poll on the most popular person in Republican Party history had Trump at 53%, Reagan at 18%, Lincoln at 8%"
Mostly True

The poll exists and the numbers match exactly. The first-pass guess that CNN was misattributed is wrong.

  • Pollster and sample: a CNN poll conducted by SSRS from May 7 to 31 among 2,480 U.S. adults. The margin of error was ±5.2 points among Republicans.
  • Result: asked which Republican president they admire most, 53% of Republicans named Trump, 18% Reagan and 8% Lincoln (Newsweek). EFE also lists George Washington at 5%.
  • Harry Enten presented the figures on CNN in late August 2026, calling Trump "the sun around which the GOP revolves." The Blaze (August 27, 2026) and EFE reported it, and Trump shared the segment on Truth Social around August 29, 2026.
  • Mediaite attributed the 53% figure to Elon University. Newsweek, The Blaze and EFE all attribute it to CNN/SSRS, and the Elon/YouGov poll Enten cited separately had different numbers (Trump 29%, Lincoln 25%, Washington 14%).

The one stretch is wording. The question asked current Republicans which Republican president they admire most, not who is "the most popular person in Republican Party history." A related CNN question to all adults about the best president overall put Obama first at 30% and Trump at 19%.

"In California 'they found 20,000' illegal voters and the number could go over 1,000,000"
Mostly False

The DOJ flagged 20,000 'likely' noncitizen registrations and sought an emergency order to segregate their ballots. County review of a 200-record sample found many canceled or inactive registrations, about 70% with no voting history, and some registrants listing U.S. birthplaces; DOJ conceded the list may contain errors. The 1,000,000 figure has no basis.

"Maher came to a second White House dinner with Stephen A. Smith and Kid Rock"
True

Trump confirmed to reporters a dinner with Maher, Stephen A. Smith and Kid Rock, and Kid Rock described it on Fox & Friends.

"Maher was drunk at the White House and is a 'major POTHEAD'"
Half True

There are two parts to this, and they hold up differently.

The pothead part has a factual basis, though the label is an insult. Maher openly uses marijuana and has campaigned for legalization for decades:

  • He has sat on NORML's advisory board since 2002 and has spoken at NORML's national conferences.
  • NORML describes him lighting a joint during a monologue on Real Time in 2016.
  • His April 2025 line on Real Time, "And I wasn't high," was a joke about Trump's surprising behavior at their first dinner, not a denial that he uses marijuana.

The drunk part is not supported by any account found:

  • At the October 15, 2026 dinner with Stephen A. Smith and Kid Rock, Kid Rock told Fox News that "Bill's like can I get a cocktail? So there was drinking involved," and said he himself was "on like beer seven" (The Independent via Yahoo, October 17, 2026; Taste of Country).
  • That makes "alcohol in his hand" plausible.
  • No attendee, reporter or White House statement says Maher was drunk. Contemporaneous accounts call the four-hour evening convivial and substantive.
  • Trump himself told reporters after that dinner that it was good and that Maher "likes me a lot more than people understand" (Deadline). The drunkenness accusation appeared only after Maher's critical broadcast.

The claim mixes a fair description of Maher's well-known marijuana use with a drunkenness charge nothing supports.

"His endorsement record is 98% in the House and 100% in the Senate"
True

Both figures match independent tallies of the 2026 Republican primaries.

  • USA Today reviewed Ballotpedia data (updated August 26, 2026). It found all 24 Trump-endorsed Senate candidates with completed primaries had advanced, with only New Hampshire still pending.
  • Trump-endorsed House candidates went 218-4, or 98.2%. The losses were Amir Hassan (MI-8), Catalina Lauf (FL-19), and incumbents Cory Mills (FL) and Andy Ogles (TN).
  • On September 8, Trump-endorsed John E. Sununu won New Hampshire's Senate primary over Scott Brown, keeping the Senate record perfect. Trump-backed Anthony DiLorenzo also won the NH-1 House primary.
  • The White House's own August graphics showed Senate 100% and House 98% (Just the News, August 24, 2026). Enten said on CNN in late August that "Trump's endorsees for Senate have won 100% of the time in 2026."

Context the claim leaves out:

  • These are primary results only.
  • Many endorsements went to incumbents or candidates without serious opposition.
  • His gubernatorial picks did much worse, about 79-80% (losses in Georgia, Iowa, Minnesota, South Carolina and Wyoming).
  • Ballotpedia's broader count, which includes state races, showed about 12 losses and a 96% overall rate.

The narrower House and Senate numbers in the post are accurate.
