A form letter, filled in for New Jersey

This post is one entry in a run of state-by-state turnout messages that went out on October 22, apparently in alphabetical order: Mississippi, Missouri, Montana and Nebraska got the "🚨 Early Voting … UNDERWAY NOW" template, and New Hampshire and then New Jersey got the endorsement-slate template. The New Jersey text matches the New Hampshire post word for word except for the names and the URL path: "TO THE GREAT PEOPLE OF … MAKE A PLAN TO VOTE FOR," an en-dash bulleted list with district codes in parentheses, the closing "These Great Patriots have my Complete and Total Endorsement — They will never let you down!", the third-person sign-off "President DONALD J. TRUMP", and a link to the RNC-style turnout site swampthevoteusa.com with a per-state slug. The structure comes from a campaign content calendar. The writing reflects nothing he was reacting to at the time.

Who wrote it

At 22:31 UTC it was 6:31 p.m. Eastern. The historian notes a planned Iowa trip that day, where it would have been 5:31 p.m. Central. Either way the post falls at the end of the working day. The authorship evidence all points toward staff:

• Template identity. The wording is reused verbatim across states, which no spontaneous composer produces.
• Formatting. En-dash bullets, standardized district notation ("NJ-02", "NJ-04", "NJ-07") and a properly spaced em-dash are the habits of a content tool.
• Sign-off and link. The signature block reads "President DONALD J. TRUMP", and the slugged campaign URL makes the post a distribution asset.
• No drift. There is no tangent, no grievance aside, no mention of the 33% approval poll, Zelensky or the courts, all of which were live that week.

The capitalized "Great Patriots" and "Complete and Total Endorsement" are Trump's established endorsement formula. Staff reproduce that house style faithfully, so it carries no weight as a sign of personal authorship.

What the slate shows

The three names are New Jersey's entire Republican House delegation: Van Drew in the 2nd, Smith in the 4th and Kean in the 7th. No challenger in a Democratic-held district is listed, and New Jersey's 2026 U.S. Senate race goes unmentioned. The New Hampshire post the same day, by contrast, led with a Senate candidate (Sununu). Holding the line on incumbents rather than naming pickup targets fits a defensive midterm posture in a state where Republicans are weak statewide, against the backdrop of the record-low approval figure from October 18. This is a reading of campaign targeting, and the choice was probably made by the committee rather than by Trump himself.

Psychological content

There is little personality signal to work with because the author did not compose anything. The one durable feature is the transactional loyalty frame in "They will never let you down!" The endorsement is presented as a guarantee of the candidates' reliability, which echoes Trump's long-standing habit of valuing allies for loyalty, though here it appears as boilerplate. The flattering opener, "THE GREAT PEOPLE OF NEW JERSEY", is routine audience flattery. The capitalized "Great Patriots" idealizes the in-group mildly, but no out-group is named. That matters: the companion early-voting posts the same day attacked "Radical Left Dumocrats", while this template contains no opponent, no grievance and no threat. No defenses operate beyond that mild idealization. Since the text was written by staff, it says nothing about Trump's cognitive state. Its value for longitudinal work is in counting volume and seeing campaign priorities, not in reading his psychology.
