Post from Truth Social

A rock anthem with no caption, in a run of wordless posts

The transcript is the chorus and verses of the Foo Fighters' "Times Like These" (2002), and nothing else: no voiceover, no narrator, no speech by Trump or anyone else. The lyrics make no claim about him, his opponents or any event. What the clip offers is mood: "It's times like these you learn to live again," "I have a new day rising, I'm a brand new sky to hang the stars upon tonight." The visuals aren't described, so the reading has to stop at the soundtrack. Whether the song is laid over rally footage, a campaign montage or a supporter's tribute can't be determined from the record.

It went out at 7:15 a.m. Eastern on a Monday (Columbus Day), the sixth post in a morning burst. Four of the earlier five are also wordless, and one reads "Adorable. Thank You! President DJT." That one points to supporter-made or fan-submitted material being passed along, and this clip probably belongs to the same batch. The likeliest reading is routine amplification of tribute content, with no reaction to any particular injury.

What the song lends him

The lyrics follow a redemption arc: renewal after hardship ("learn to live again," "learn to love again"), a dawn image ("a new day rising"), endurance ("time and time again"). Set to his account three weeks before the 3 November midterms, the arc maps onto the comeback story he has told since 2020, in which he is the figure who returns and restores. The posting borrows that arc. Nothing in the clip states it. If the visuals show him, the clip casts him as the hero-restorer through music alone and makes no argument for it. That approach can't be fact-checked and is hard to argue with.

One line works against that use: "I am a little divided, do I stay or run away and leave it all behind." In the song it is the singer's doubt. Nothing suggests it was chosen for that meaning, and building on it would overread a stock lyric.

Some context: in 2024 the Foo Fighters publicly objected to the Trump campaign using "My Hero" at an event. Posting another of their songs repeats a pattern of taking anthems from artists who have refused him, though nothing here shows he knew the song's origin or meant anything by it.

Clinical and rhetorical read

The post has no target, so the paranoid and sadistic dimensions have nothing to score. The narcissistic dimension shows only as receptivity: putting up a heroic soundtrack, likely made by an admirer, is low-grade supply-seeking. The state is mildly grandiose and calm. Without words of his own there is no evidence of defense mechanisms, and the speech-based cognitive markers can't be read: the only language in the post is a published lyric, sung by someone else.

The rhetoric works through emotional transfer. The song's uplift and familiarity attach to whatever images sit under it, and with no proposition stated, there is nothing for a critic to rebut. Against the week's events (the Riyadh airport strike, Hormuz attacks pushing Brent past $105, the Lisa Cook inquiry), the post points nowhere near any of them. It reads as morning maintenance of the base's mood ahead of the midterms.
