A news/event photograph of the National Mall in Washington, D.C., looking down the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool toward the Washington Monument, which is visible in the distance with its reflection in the pool's still water. The Smithsonian Castle and other buildings are visible in the background along with green trees lining both sides of the pool and American flags near the base of the monument. A large, dense crowd of people fills the foreground behind green barricades/fencing, with some standing along the sides of the reflecting pool as well. The sky is blue with scattered clouds, suggesting early morning or evening light. A small red sign on one of the green barricades in the foreground appears to say "EMERGENCY" though it is too small to read with full confidence.
