So, now discussion, debate, disagreement are "attacks."  The left seeks to silence and intimidate debate and discussion.  Create controversy.  Blah-blah.  McCarthy made his views public, in the NY Post and online, and I responded online.  Big deal.  That's what happens when you're a public person who makes public statements.  They invite reactions.
