NATO has shaped Europe's security since 1949. But now tension between the U.S. and the rest of the alliance has grown as the Trump administration pushes a NATO 3.0 idea that Europe should take the lead on its own conventional defense. And the Department of War has launched a six-month review that could lead to the biggest U.S. drawdown in Europe since the 1990s. But when the U.S. and Israel wanted to use them for refueling and strikes against Iran, Spain said no. President Trump accused Spain of freeloading while the U.S. does the heavy lifting. When the U.S. struck Iran in February with Operation Epic Fury, Spain was one of the strongest opponents. The nation's socialist prime minister, Pedro Sanchez, called the war illegal and unjustified. Spain actually said that we can't use their bases, and that's all right, we could use their bases. We want we could just fly in and use it. Nobody's going to tell us not to use it, but we don't have to. But they were unfriendly. And so I told him that we don't want to -- Spain has absolutely nothing that we need other than great people. They have great people. Trump hasn't limited his criticism to Spain. He's threatened to withdraw the U.S. from NATO entirely. Look, we went to NATO. I didn't ask very strongly. I just said, hey, if you want to help, great. No, no, no, we will not help. I said, that's all right. You don't want to help? Because I've always said NATO is a paper tiger, because they haven't helped at all. Just the opposite. They've actually gone out of their way not to help. They didn't even want to give us landing strips. In Washington, the United States breaks a 170-year-old tradition as it joins -- The U.S. helped create NATO in 1949 to counter Soviet expansion after World War II. In 2024, full measure got the rare chance to embed in live-fire NATO exercises in northeast Poland. U.S. forces led troops from Britain, Croatia, and Romania. It could trigger the collapse of the 77-year-old alliance, weaken Europe's security, and embolden Russia and China. But amid the criticism, NATO Secretary General Mark Ruda has emerged as President Trump's strongest defender, most famously after Trump used an expletive when comparing Israel and Iran to two kids in a schoolyard. Let him fight for about two or three minutes, then it's easier to stop him. And then daddy has to sometimes do strong language to do that stuff. Yeah, he is strong language. Every once in a while you have to use a certain word. After that remark, Ruda's approach with Trump quickly became known as "Daddy diplomacy." There's one point even Trump's critics concede. Only because of his pressure, NATO allies met the target of spending at least two percent of their economy on their own military for the first time last year, and they've committed to five percent by 2035. Because I want to show you what this president was able to achieve. And let's start with this chart. This chart is about the Trump children. The Trump children shows you the increase Europeans and Canadians are paying into defense since you took office in 2017. Most say a full U.S. withdrawal from NATO is unlikely, but War Secretary Pete Hexeth has initiated a review called NATO 3.0. People see it as a threat to reduce or reposition American troops in Europe after the disappointing response on Iran. It will be designed to ensure that NATO is moving fast and irreversibly toward Europe leading, stepping up to take primary responsibility for the defense of Europe, stepping up to ensure our forces are postured for America's global needs, and stepping up to make sure that our access, spacing and overflight are clearly delineated and assured. The impact of President Trump on NATO has been what? Has been demanding, has been just because it was unbalanced, and we have to do more. So you're not mad at him? No. I think most of the negative comments coming to say that NATO is going to be dismantled, that the U.S. is leaving Europe abandoned, are coming from outside the United States. Who do you mean? I think it's coming from the Eastern countries. I think it's coming from Russia. Russia is interested in making the European Union citizens to believe that they are endangered to be abandoned and it's better if they just take the first step. If they are abandoning you, just abandon them. Europe is bolstering its defense spending thanks to Trump. The question is how flashpoints over issues like Iran will impact the long-standing NATO alliance. The Pentagon is expected to recommend what to change about U.S. forces in Europe to President Trump by November 6th, that could include cutting 25,000 troops, roughly a third of the force, or as many as 40,000 with Germany, Italy, and Spain most impacted.

Donald Trump is going to stake his place today as one of the most consequential commanders in chief in American history. And it's important to remember, this could have gone very badly. We just saw the State of the Union where he gave the Medal of Honor to Eric Slober, the helicopter pilot who carried out that mission to get Maduro. That was an incredibly risky decision by the president. If that helicopter had gone down, it could have been his desert one. The risk involved in this operation was 10 times that. And he didn't flinch. He made the right decision. And he's going to change the world because of it. I mean, I think your words are very powerful. I think the caveat here is we're on day one. And officials are telling us it could last two or three weeks. So we have a lot of military side of things can really handle a lot, as we saw with Venezuela and other operations, Midnight Hammer and others. One would think that there are multiple plans with multiple off-ramps in this whole operation. Sure, absolutely. And look, what Donald Trump is doing is forging a new way to lead on the world stage in the wake of Iraq and Afghanistan. When Ronald Reagan came in after the Vietnam War, there was no appetite for boots on the ground. So he forged the Reagan Doctrine, supporting freedom movements around the world to challenge the Soviet Union. Donald Trump has come in after Afghanistan and Iraq, where there's no appetite for American boots on the ground. And our choice is to retreat from the world or to lead in a different way. And that's what he's doing here. He's leading from the air. The ground forces in Iran are the Iranian people, and they're going to have their role to play. And that's what he was talking about today in that statement. So this is a new way of leading, and we got to give him time to work it out because it's very important that we continue to lead. We're going to keep going on this to ask you, how does cutting federal funding to these sanctuary cities, which is happening very soon, help the president's immigration crackdown? And what do you think that will solve? Well, look, when they cut federal funding, that sends a message to these politicians that President Trump is serious about what he said he was going to do, which is to remove those people that should not be here in the country legally. He campaigned on that. He won on that. He's got a mandate he's going to follow through. You know, President Trump also says that federal agents will no longer engage with protesters. Yeah, we're going to see how that goes. Here's the president on Air Force One last night. Let's listen. If they want help, they have to ask for it. Because if we go in, all they do is complain. But if they want help, they can ask for it. And they're going to need help. Los Angeles, as an example, we went in, we solved it. The chief law enforcement officer at Los Angeles said they couldn't have done it without the federal government. A week later, he said they didn't need the federal government. You know, so we don't want that. If they want help, they'll ask, but they have to say please. All right. So I've got to ask you your response to that because, of course, it's a top talker for us today. Hearing what he said last night on Air Force One, how do you think it changes things for federal officers on the ground, number one? And do you think this tactic of asking Dems to say please is going to work? Look, President Trump is the ultimate master when it comes to going after those that have TDS. And so by forcing their hand to say please, it actually makes them want to resolve the issue without getting the federal government involved. And that's actually beneficial to us because we could get back to what we should be doing instead of dealing with these unruly protesters. You know, when we talk about the body cameras, this is such an interesting topic because we're all trying to understand who wears what. The president was asked about how he feels about federal officers wearing body cameras. I'm curious of your take, but I also want to listen to what he said. Do you think it's good having lots of cameras on these kinds of incidents between law enforcement and the people? I think it would help law enforcement, but I'd have to talk to them. I'm going to be talking to them tomorrow. Actually, I think it would help law enforcement. You know, that works both ways, but I think overall, I think it's 80 percent in favor of law enforcement. So I want to take a look at some stats because according to June data from the House Homeland Security Committee, 4400 ICE officers wear body cameras in a force of about 22,000 and nearly 13,000 border patrol agents wear cameras in a force of nearly 45,000. So we've got this huge bright spotlight on these immigration officers. Right. So as we're watching this all play out, many people say, hey, let's see it all. We want to see the videos that are being taken from the streets and we want to see the videos that's being worn. But do you think it's important for all ICE officers and border patrol agents to wear these body cameras because it does seem like it would make it a lot easier to investigate any incidents of violence, accusations of violence towards or involving officers? How do you see it? So most of our border patrol agents, like you said, have been wearing body cams. It doesn't change the fact that we're still going to have these aggressive protesters coming after us. All it's going to do is show exactly the perception or the view of the agent involved. But it doesn't change anything about who we're dealing with or how we're dealing with them. Listen, it's important, I think, for all of us to understand who's wearing them, how long they wear them. And it just kind of reminds me, if you even think about the cameras that we have in our cars, it's so important if you get in a traffic accident to have that footage, because it can be a, he said, he said, situation very easily. Do you really think that in the summit in the Hague, as already Alex was saying, sorry, the President of Finland was saying, that we would come to an overall defense spending of 5%, including 3.5% in core defense. If President Trump would not have been reelected as President of the United States, no way it would never have happened. So again, I'm not popular with you now because I'm defending Donald Trump. Trump's remaking the United States of America. We can start there with tariffs. What are we talking about? No tacos for Trump. The effect of tariff rate. Get this. Eighteen percent. It is the highest, Omar. The highest since the 1930s. Up from, get this, just two percent last year. As I'm going to talk about in this segment, I can't think of a more influential president during this century. And it starts here with tariffs. He said he was going to raise tariffs. And despite the claims otherwise, he is, in fact, doing that. The effective tariff rate at this point looks to be nine times as high as it was last year. The highest since the 1930s in FDR, Omar. And the effective tariff rate is up from two percent last year for those that might see the banner there. Tariffs, though, aren't the only way Trump's remaking policy in America, right? It is not the only way that Trump is remaking America. What are we talking about? Well, let's jump. The other big thing that Trump ran on, right, was immigration. How about net migration in the United States? Get this. It's down. It's going to be down at least 60%. We may be dealing with, get this, negative net migration to the United States in 2025. That would be the first time there is negative net migration in this country in at least 50 years. We're talking about down from 2.8 million in 2024. So, Donald Trump ran, has always run on tariffs, and he's run on a hawkish line on immigration. And on both of those issues, we are seeing record high tariff rates for this century going all the way back, well back into the early part of the 20th century. And when it comes to immigration, net migration, we are seeing record low levels way down from where we were during the Biden administration. We are potentially looking at negative net migration for the first time in at least 50 years. And that is a big reason why that I'm saying that Trump, at least in my mind, is the most influential president certainly this century, and probably dating a good back chunk into the 20th century as well, Omar.
