Let the sham trial begin. Today, the U.S. justice system became a literal joke. Donald Trump spent the day in the New York City courtroom awaiting his opportunity to defend himself, but what Trump is really defending is the American people. Trump is defending you and me from overzealous politicians willing to break with tradition and break with the rules of freedom and liberty just to convict a citizen they disagree with. -This is assault on America. Nothing like this has never happened before. There's never been anything like it. Every legal scholar said this case is nonsense. It should never have been brought. It doesn't deserve anything like this. There is no case, and they've said it. People that don't necessarily follow or like Donald Trump said this is an outrage, that this case was brought. This is political persecution. This is a persecution like never before. Nobody's ever seen anything like it. And, again, it's a case that should have never been brought. It's an assault on America. -And the former president didn't stop there. He went on to show how this case is purely political. -And it's a country that's failing. It's a country that's run by an incompetent man who's very much involved in this case. This is really an attack on a political opponent. That's all it is. So I'm very honored to be here. -So, you know, the more fabricated cases against Trump, the less justice we receive as Americans. This case today against Trump is so weak the case is creating something new. The case is creating new laws. It's literally creating new criminal code just for Trump, just to get Trump. Understand what's happening here, folks. This case is a misdemeanor, and the misdemeanor had already expired, meaning the statute of limitations had run out when it was revised in a way that's never been done before. The prosecutor revived a case whose time had expired just to prosecute the defendant. But because the defendant is named Donald Trump, Alvin Bragg and Juan Murchin are effectively arguing that Trump was filing false business records through his counsel, Michael Cohen, to hide a federal crime. But this isn't a federal crime. This wasn't a campaign contribution. None of that appears to matter, and that is why most honest lawyers -- I know "honest lawyer" tends to be an oxymoron, but most honest lawyers know there are so many reasons Trump should not be prosecuted.
