## What the media says

**Video transcript** (5:07), transcribed automatically, so names and numbers may be wrong. Speakers aren't identified, so a voice in it may not be his:

> Israel has warned the United States that Iran hatched a plot to assassinate President Trump. K.T. McFarland joins me now. K.T., they're huge posters now. We're not even going to show them, but they're huge posters all over Tehran calling for Trump's death, one offering a reward for his killing. How should we respond to this? This is really direct now, like it never has been before. You know, I've worked for four presidents and they've always, you know, assassination attempts come with the job. I even worked for Reagan when he was almost died from an assassination attempt. But President Trump, he's really fatalistic about it, and he's not faced by it. And even when he was in Anchorage, he said, "Look, it comes with the job. They've tried. I'm the number one target of any assassin in the world." And so he's in a very unique position. Not only is that the Trump derangement syndrome American potential assassins, but it's now coming from Iran, from the country of Iran. I just think what do you do about it? You make sure that the government of Iran going forward, whatever the deal is, whenever the deal is, can police its own. And you also make sure that the Secret Service is just as good as it can be. And you continue to have a strong relationship with Israeli intelligence because they're the best in the world. God bless them. I mean, if it had, you know, for all those people who dump on Israel, of course, a lot of them don't care about Donald Trump. But the fact is, is that it was that Israeli intelligence, apparently, that prevented this attack or prevented the execution of it. And that's really a good ally when they can help prevent an assassination. Meanwhile, you do have, despite all this, you have the idea of the talks continuing. And there does seem to be a tension now in the White House between VP Vance, who we know is pushing for more negotiations, and Secretary of State Rubio, who says enough is enough, which is what Donald Trump seemed to be saying in the middle of the week, in the beginning of the week. Is Trump using this as kind of a good cop, bad cop negotiating tool? Yeah, I mean, Trump likes to listen to all people, but Trump is the only guy, he's a decider in chief. He makes the decisions. And even if nobody recommends a decision, he'll take it. What I thought was really interesting, David, is what Lauren was just saying about the price of oil. Watch how the negotiations have affected the price of oil. So before the war, it was about $70 a barrel. When the war starts, goes up to about $120 a barrel. And that was, that was putting a lot of pressure on the world economy and gasoline prices in the United States, et cetera. Then you have this ceasefire and price, price of oil goes way back down down to about 70. And now where are we? What did Lauren just say? $76 a barrel? No, no, no, no, no, no. $72 a barrel. Okay. $72 a barrel, $76 yesterday. So despite the fact that we're back at war and despite the fact that President Trump has said we're going to hit him hard, et cetera, and we are hitting them hard, oil is not the leverage and the blackmail that Iran had before. Why is that? Because in the period of the ceasefire, a number of countries have started buying American, right? They've been buying oil from Alaska, from the Gulf of America, and American oil, crude oil exports have gone up 30% just since the war began. The other thing is that the Middle East allies, the Saudis, UAE, especially, Iraq, they're building pipelines and fast tracking those pipelines. So with every day, Iran's ability to blackmail the world with the Strait of Hormuz goes down. K.T., you worked with the great Secretary of State Henry Kissinger. Kissinger always was hoping, I think one of his dreams was that eventually there would be some kind of deal between Israel and the Arab countries that would kind of isolate Iran, put Iran in a pocket. It seems that Donald Trump, through the Abraham Accords, has worked this out, or at least that we have the basis for all of that working out. And these tensions now with Iran are the final proof of that, because you see the UAE leaving OPEC, et cetera. It seems like things are working in the direction that even Kissinger wanted to go for. You know, in the fullness of time, it's taken a long time. It has. But if you had said that you would have a situation where the United States and Israel and the Gulf Arab countries were working together, fighting together, not just trading, but fighting together against Iran, nobody would have believed you. And yet that's the new Middle East. I think that the whole Iran war is important as it is and important as Iran's nuclear weapons and getting rid of them was. The end result of this is a complete change of the chess board in the Middle East. We now have a lot of really close friends and allies, and that's the big takeaway. These are historic times, really historic times. Things that have been happening for 40, 50 years are beginning to change now. Great to see you, KT. Thank you so much for coming in. Really appreciate it.

# Analysis

_Machine-generated by trump.fm on 2026-09-09T13:17:35.231Z (UTC): a model's reading of this post, not his words. Its psychological terms describe the language, not a clinical assessment of him._

## Summary

A wordless amplification: a cable-news segment asserting that Israel warned of an Iranian plot to assassinate him, paired with panel praise of his fatalism and strategic judgment. With no text of his own, the analyzable behavior is selection. What was selected performs a characteristic operation — a superlative of victimhood ("the number one target of any assassin in the world") that converts persecution into evidence of rank, delivered in a third party's voice so the grandiosity arrives pre-laundered. The state is mixed narcissism: expansive content inside a persecuted frame. Timing is the notable feature. Roughly contemporaneous with a post declaring "the Cease Fire is OVER," circulating proof of a mortal threat functions as retroactive moral licensing, recasting discretionary escalation as self-defense. Defenses are immature-to-neurotic — idealization of the protective ally and of self by proxy, rationalization, and splitting into loyal ally versus lethal enemy. Paranoid features register moderately, with the caveat that a reported state plot is not baseless suspicion; the clinical marker is the amplification and the merging of foreign assassins with domestic political opponents into one persecutory field. No rage, no sadism, no dehumanization, no target identification. Danger is minimal. Cognitive status is unassessable — no language of his own. Authorship attribution concerns curation only and rests on timing alone; confidence is low. Longitudinal comparison against prior assassination-related posts would clarify whether persecution material is increasingly deployed around escalation decisions.

## Post Overview

A media-only Truth Social post: no caption, no commentary, no framing text. The attached video is a cable-news panel segment (host addressing "K.T." — K.T. McFarland — with a second host, "David," and a market reporter, "Lauren," referenced) concerning an Israeli warning that Iran plotted to assassinate the subject, plus discussion of Iran talks, oil prices, and the Abraham Accords.

Because the subject wrote nothing, the analyzable act is **selection and amplification** only. Stylometric analysis is unavailable and is not scored. Nothing in the transcript is his speech; the segment's superlatives, claims, and framing belong to the broadcasters.

## What the Clip Does On His Behalf

The segment performs four services simultaneously, which is likely why it was selected:

1. **Martyr-grandiosity fusion.** McFarland relays that he described himself as "the number one target of any assassin in the world" and characterizes him as "fatalistic" and unfazed. This is a superlative of *victimhood* — a rhetorical form in which persecution itself becomes evidence of importance. It converts vulnerability into rank.
2. **Retroactive justification for escalation.** Roughly contemporaneous with this post, the subject wrote that "the Cease Fire is OVER." A clip establishing that the adversary tried to kill him reframes renewed strikes as defensive necessity rather than discretionary escalation. The sequencing — declaration of hostilities, then amplification of an assassination plot — is consistent with post-hoc moral licensing.
3. **Competence testimonial.** The panel casts him as "decider in chief," credits him with strategically neutralizing Iran's oil leverage, and links him to a Kissingerian grand design via the Abraham Accords. The praise arrives in a third party's voice, which is more credible to an audience than self-assertion and preserves plausible modesty.
4. **Ally management.** McFarland's defense of Israeli intelligence ("the best in the world… God bless them," "for all those people who dump on Israel") does alliance-maintenance work at a moment when the coalition posture matters.

## Level 1: Dispositional Traits

Trait inference from a wordless repost is weak and should be treated as low-confidence. What the *selection* is consistent with: high assertiveness/status-orientation (Extraversion), low modesty (Agreeableness), and a vulnerability facet of Neuroticism — a documented threat to his life is being circulated rather than left alone. Conscientiousness signal is essentially absent. Openness is not assessable here.

## Level 2: Characteristic Adaptations

Agency motives dominate: status confirmation ("number one target"), control ("he's the decider"), and vindication of a policy line. Communion content exists but is instrumental — gratitude toward Israeli intelligence functions as coalition maintenance, not intimacy. The implicit self-schema is: *singularly consequential, therefore singularly hunted*. The world-schema is a hostile field in which both foreign states and domestic "Trump derangement syndrome" actors want him dead — an in-clip merging of external and internal enemies that is characteristic of persecutory framing.

## Level 3: Narrative Identity

Protagonist role: the fated warrior-king who accepts mortal risk as the price of office. The narrative arc is **redemptive**: threat → unflinching endurance → strategic dividend (oil leverage collapsing, allies building pipelines, Iran boxed in). Contrasting others: the Iranian regime, and secondarily domestic detractors and Israel's critics. Identity claims made *on his behalf*: uniquely targeted, uniquely undeterred, uniquely decisive.

## Level 4: Clinical Indicators

**Narcissistic dynamics.** The primary function is supply-seeking by proxy — publishing praise one did not write. Trigger type is best read as supply-seeking with maintenance overlay; there is no evident narcissistic injury and no rage. The narcissistic state is **mixed**: grandiose content (world's top target, decider in chief, architect of a regional realignment) delivered inside a vulnerable frame (someone is trying to kill me). This grandiose/vulnerable fusion is a stable and well-documented feature of the subject's persecution material.

**Malignant narcissism dimensions.** Narcissistic features are moderately elevated (amplified superlatives about self). Paranoid features are moderate but note an important caveat: a reported state-sponsored plot is not baseless suspicion, so the persecutory content here is at least partly reality-anchored — the marker is the *amplification* and the merging of foreign threat with domestic political opponents, not the threat claim itself. Antisocial features are low in this artifact. Sadism is essentially absent; no one is humiliated.

**Defenses.** Idealization (Israeli intelligence "the best in the world"; self via proxy), rationalization (escalation recast as self-protection), and splitting along a clean loyal-ally/lethal-enemy axis. These are immature-to-neurotic level, not pathological. No denial or reality-reshaping is required by this post.

## Cognitive Status

**Not assessable.** The post contains no language produced by the subject. No word-finding, paraphasic, tangential, or perseverative markers can be scored, and none should be inferred from a broadcaster's speech. Baseline deviation: none observable.

## Authorship

Timing is 17:05 UTC = ~13:05 ET. He was in Palm Beach (per his own same-day post about the airport renaming), so Eastern time applies: early afternoon, squarely within business hours, which mildly favors staff. Counterweight: same-day posts include unmistakably first-person, emotionally driven material (the Housing Bill veto-protest post, the ceasefire-is-over post), indicating he was personally engaged with the account that day; and unlabeled reposts of flattering cable segments — dropped in raw, no caption — are a long-standing personal habit rather than a communications-shop product (staff typically add framing text). Net: essentially a coin flip, weighted marginally toward personal selection. With no text, there is no stylometric evidence whatsoever; confidence is capped at low.

## Rhetorical & Propaganda Assessment

Techniques operating in the amplified material: **testimonial** (a credentialed former official vouching), **appeal to fear**, **superlative framing**, **card stacking** (an oil-price narrative selected to show Iranian leverage collapsing), and **transfer** (Kissinger invoked to lend historical stature). Note that all of these are the broadcasters' constructions; the subject's contribution is the decision to place them before ~10M followers unmediated.

Violent content is present in the clip — posters calling for his death, a reward offered for his killing — but it is framed as violence *directed at him*, not by him. There is no target identification, no call to action, and no eliminationist language attributable to the subject. This is not a stochastic-terrorism pattern.

## Danger Assessment

**None to minimal.** No dehumanization, no mobilization cue, no implied action against a named party. The one dynamic worth logging longitudinally is the grievance-as-license structure: circulating evidence of a mortal threat immediately after declaring a ceasefire over builds public permission for wider military action. That is a legitimacy-construction pattern, not an incitement pattern, but it is the mechanism to watch if the Iran conflict escalates further.

## Confidence and Limitations

Overall confidence: **low-to-moderate**. Wordless amplification carries real signal about attention and self-concept, but it is thin evidence for trait or state inference. The most defensible finding is the selection preference itself: of everything available that day, what was chosen was a segment asserting that he is the world's most-targeted man and that he is unbothered by it. Longitudinal comparison against his broader corpus of assassination-related posts (2024 Butler, subsequent threat claims) would substantially strengthen the reading of whether persecution material is being deployed with increasing frequency around escalation decisions.

## Authorship Analysis

## That day

_From trump.fm's machine-generated digest of the day, not his words._

**Called the Iran ceasefire "OVER" at mid-morning, then amplified a segment on Tehran posters offering a reward for his killing**

A late-morning post told Iran the ceasefire was "over" even as he agreed to keep talking — the heaviest thing he did all day, and he did it from Florida before lunch in an unusually flat voice. A couple of hours later he shared a cable-news segment about an Iranian plot to kill him, which had the effect of making the escalation look like self-defense. He also announced he would not sign a housing bill Congress had already passed, using it as leverage over the Senate's failure to move his voter-ID bill, and claimed that bill polls at 97% with Republicans, a figure with nothing behind it. The rest of the day was routine and mostly not his hand: eight near-identical candidate endorsements, a photo of a slab of styrofoam, and an evening round of credit-taking for a Micron chip investment and for ending crime in Washington. He signed off with a news link about the prosecutor who charged him — "crooked right from the beginning" — and, unusually, slept a full night on both ends of the day.
