## What the media says

**Video transcript** (4:45), transcribed automatically, so names and numbers may be wrong. Speakers aren't identified, so a voice in it may not be his:

> We have a Fox News alert. James Brennan and James Comey are likely regretting going all in on the Russia hoax now because DOJ sources are telling Fox Digital that the FBI indeed has launched a criminal investigation into the former CIA director and former FBI director for potential wrongdoing related to the Trump-Russia probe and all the alleged false statements made to Congress. The full scope of the investigation is unclear right now, but two sources describe the FBI's view of the duo's interactions as, quote, "a conspiracy." Here to break it down, Jonathan Turley, George Washington University law prof and Fox News contributor. Jonathan, we've been hearing for some time about Brennan's alleged perjury over his role in the Steele dossier and the advancement of that and perhaps understanding that that was not credible. Your reaction tonight to this stunning development. Well, it's obviously a major development. These are two of the top people in the American intelligence system. And there have been these long unanswered questions about what they told Congress. At points, they both seem to adopt the surgeon Schultz approach of I knew nothing. If only I knew I would have done something that didn't strike many as being very credible. Both of these tend to be somewhat of micromanagers. They take pride in the fact that they followed the details of their departments. And it all comes down, particularly to a period in 2017, an intelligence community assessment at ICA that went out and viewed the Steele dossier, that infamous dossier funded by the Clinton campaign as credible. And that in fact, Steele was credible. They knew that was not true. The CIA had already said that it had great misgivings about the Steele dossier. Even though the Clinton campaign was denying to reporters that it funded the dossier, it was in fact funded through the law firm of the Clinton campaign that the Clinton campaign used. And so there's a lot of questions here as to why particularly Comey, for example, signed off on these FISA warrants, these secret court warrants to conduct this surveillance. The other thing, by the way, they knew very early on was that Carter Page, who was such a significant figure in the Steele dossier and the whole Russian hoax, was not only not a Russian spy, but was actually a CIA asset. And so the CIA told the FBI, "You're on the wrong road here. You're going after someone who is assisting us." All of that somehow got buried. And what came to the surface was the Steele dossier, which was not only not verified, it had been really shredded by many people in the intelligence committee. Yeah. And Comey claimed that it was Papadopoulos, that poor, poor, hapless kid. That Papadopoulos, his interactions with the Russians started the whole thing. And it was long before the dossier. But this was Comey testifying back in 2020 about this. Watch. It was done by the book. It was appropriate and it was essential that it be done. Okay. So you're proud of it? Overall, I'm proud of the work. There's no indication, and the inspector general would say it if he found it, that people were doing bad things on purpose, but that doesn't make it any less concerning. This was an investigation that was appropriately predicated and opened, that had to be opened. Jonathan, it had to be opened. Supercilious doesn't begin to describe him. So dismissive. Now, I remember listening to a testimony and just almost falling out of my chair. I mean, virtually everything he said was untrue. In fact, the IG reports shredded the FBI and said that they didn't follow protocol, that they ignored counterintelligence, that they pushed the Steele dossier forward. And these were two of the key individuals who did that. So the question is, does any of this trick the wire to perjury? And both of these are sophisticated players. You'll notice that they're very careful in how they word this. Comey is very careful to say that there wasn't basically malicious intent, not that there weren't mistakes. And time and time again, Comey portrayed himself as ignorant of all of these countervailing sources. Now, and again, the Brennan perjury questions have been swirling about for years and years. This is like one big flashback for both of us, Jonathan. Thank you very much.

# Analysis

_Machine-generated by trump.fm on 2026-09-09T16:53:21.544Z (UTC): a model's reading of this post, not his words. Its psychological terms describe the language, not a clinical assessment of him._

## Summary

This post is a late-night (~11:49 PM ET) repost of a Fox News segment reporting a criminal investigation into former CIA Director John Brennan and former FBI Director James Comey for alleged false statements to Congress about the Trump-Russia investigation, with commentary from legal analyst Jonathan Turley. The subject added no text of his own. The selection fits a longstanding narrative pattern in which years of self-characterized persecution ('Russia hoax') are recast as vindication once adversaries reportedly face accountability — a contamination-to-redemption arc sustained across years of posting. This is amplification behavior, not direct speech: no claims in the transcript can be attributed to the subject as his own assertions, since the factual claims (investigation scope, Steele dossier funding, Carter Page's CIA status) are made by the anchor and Turley. No dehumanizing language, threats, or danger indicators are present. Authorship attribution rests solely on timing (late-night ET, consistent with documented personal posting windows), since no text is available for stylometric analysis; confidence in the attribution is accordingly low, and the determination concerns who selected the clip, not who wrote its words. Clinical significance here is modest and narrative-level rather than acute — best read as routine maintenance of an established grievance-vindication identity theme rather than a novel psychological event.

## Post Overview

This post carries no original text from the subject — it is a bare repost of a Fox News segment (anchor + Jonathan Turley) reporting that DOJ/FBI sources describe a criminal investigation into John Brennan and James Comey for alleged false statements to Congress regarding the Trump-Russia probe and Steele dossier. Because there is no written text, stylometric, syntactic, and typo-based analysis is unavailable; the object of analysis is the **selection and amplification act itself** — what he chose to put in front of his audience — not any language in the clip.

## Level 1–3: Traits, Motives, Narrative

The clip amplifies a redemption/vindication narrative long central to the subject's public identity construction: years of self-described persecution ("Russia hoax," "witch hunt") culminating in reported accountability for his accusers. This is a **contamination-to-redemption arc at the level of the broader ongoing narrative** — years framed as unjust victimization now reportedly resolving toward vindication. The contrasting others are explicit in the amplified content: Brennan, Comey, the "Clinton campaign," and by extension the intelligence community/"deep state." No first-person agency or communion motive language is present since he supplied no text, but the selection behavior itself is consistent with a **status/vindication motive** — validating his long-standing claim of innocence by elevating content that casts former adversaries as the wrongdoers.

## Level 4: Clinical Indicators (behavioral inference only)

**Trigger type:** Best characterized as supply-seeking/vindication-maintenance rather than acute narcissistic injury — the post amplifies favorable news rather than responding to a fresh attack.

**Defenses (inferred from selection, not wording):** The act of amplifying content that recasts a years-long personal grievance (Russia investigation) as the malfeasance of others is consistent with **externalization/splitting** at the narrative level — his own conduct is absent from the frame; the accusers become the accused. This should be read cautiously, as no direct statement from the subject is present to anchor a defense-mechanism claim more strongly.

**Narcissistic state:** Grandiose-adjacent by proxy — amplifying an external validation of persecution rather than expressing grandiosity directly.

No dehumanizing language, threats, or eliminationist rhetoric appear in the transcript; this is a news-segment repost, not incitement. **Danger level: none.**

## Authorship Attribution

With no written text, there is no stylometric evidence (no typos, phrasing, or syntax to evaluate) — attribution rests entirely on timing and posting-pattern context. Converting 2026-04-22T03:49:36 UTC to US Eastern Daylight Time yields approximately **11:49 PM ET on April 21**, consistent with his documented late-night/early-morning posting windows (see prior week's overnight posting sprees, e.g., April 17-18 binge of 27 posts into early morning). This late-hour timing is weakly consistent with authentic personal posting behavior (he is reported to watch cable news, including Fox, and to react to segments in real time), but a media repost with no attached commentary is also plausible as staff-curated content queued for engagement. Given the total absence of stylometric markers, confidence is capped at low, and this determination concerns **who selected and posted the clip, not who wrote any of its words** — the words belong entirely to the Fox broadcast.

## That day

_From trump.fm's machine-generated digest of the day, not his words._

**On the day the Iran ceasefire ran out, he floated blowing up "their leaders included," then asked those same leaders to free women prisoners**

The president posted all day on the date the US-Iran ceasefire was due to expire. Late the night before, he said Iran was broke and begging to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, said a deal was impossible unless the US blew up "their leaders included," and then played a run of friendly TV clips about his Iran strategy. Around midday his mood turned to anger at things he had lost: he called a liberal Supreme Court justice "Low IQ," turned on conservative justices who had ruled against him, and said a Virginia vote had been "RIGGED" by late mail-in ballots. In the afternoon he re-shared a softer message asking Iran's leaders to release a group of women. He ended the evening by sharing a radio host's rant about birthright citizenship arguments that called immigrants' home countries a "hellhole" and talked about "where revolutions arise."
