## Post text

> The supreme court (will be using lower case letters for a while based on a complete lack of respect!) of the United States accidentally and unwittingly gave me, as President of the United States, far more powers and strength than I had prior to their ridiculous, dumb, and very internationally divisive ruling. For one thing, I can use Licenses to do absolutely "terrible" things to foreign countries, especially those countries that have been RIPPING US OFF for many decades, but incomprehensibly, according to the ruling, can't charge them a License fee - BUT ALL LICENSES CHARGE FEES, why can't the United States do so? You do a license to get a fee! The opinion doesn't explain that, but I know the answer! The court has also approved all other Tariffs, of which there are many, and they can all be used in a much more powerful and obnoxious way, with legal certainty, than the Tariffs as initially used. Our incompetent supreme court did a great job for the wrong people, and for that they should be ashamed of themselves (but not the Great Three!). The next thing you know they will rule in favor of China and others, who are making an absolute fortune on Birthright Citizenship, by saying the 14th Amendment was NOT written to take care of the "babies of slaves," which it was as proven by the EXACT TIMING of its construction, filing, and ratification, which perfectly coincided with the END OF THE CIVIL WAR. How much better can you do than that? But this supreme court will find a way to come to the wrong conclusion, one that again will make China, and various other Nations, happy and rich. Let our supreme court keep making decisions that are so bad and deleterious to the future of our Nation - I have a job to do. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! President DONALD J. TRUMP

# Analysis

_Machine-generated by trump.fm on 2026-03-22T07:36:10.181Z (UTC): a model's reading of this post, not his words. Its psychological terms describe the language, not a clinical assessment of him._

## Summary

This post is a clinically significant narcissistic injury response to the Supreme Court's 6-3 ruling striking down IEEPA tariffs. The primary defense is pathological distortion — reframing a major judicial defeat as having "accidentally" granted him more power. Secondary defenses include splitting (loyal "Great Three" vs. incompetent majority), devaluation (lowercase as symbolic punishment), and projection (accusing the court of serving China). The mixed narcissistic state oscillates between grandiosity ("far more powers and strength") and persecution ("court making decisions deleterious to our Nation"). The post escalates institutional delegitimization rhetoric, conditioning followers to view the judiciary as a corrupt, foreign-serving adversary rather than a co-equal branch. The preemptive attack on a forthcoming birthright citizenship ruling demonstrates anticipatory devaluation — ensuring future defeats are pre-framed as evidence of judicial corruption. The confused legal reasoning about licenses and fees reflects baseline legal illiteracy rather than cognitive change. Most concerning is the systematic undermining of judicial authority during an active constitutional crisis, framing compliance with court rulings as optional ("I have a job to do"). This represents an elevated-risk pattern of authoritarian norm erosion through incremental delegitimization.

## Psychological Analysis: Supreme Court Tariff Ruling Response (2026-02-23)

### Context
The Supreme Court ruled 6-3 in *Learning Resources v. Trump* that IEEPA does not authorize presidential tariffs, striking down over $175B in tariff collections. This post is Trump's immediate, extended response — a classic narcissistic injury reaction to judicial defeat.

### Authorship
Posted 12:06 UTC = ~7:06 AM EST. Trump was likely at Mar-a-Lago or traveling to Georgia rally. The early morning timing, stream-of-consciousness structure, emotional reactivity, and length all point strongly to authentic Trump. The parenthetical asides, ALL CAPS passages, and impulsive logical leaps are characteristic markers.

### Psychological Dynamics
This is a textbook narcissistic injury response with several notable features:

1. **Defensive reframing as victory**: The core move — "they accidentally gave me MORE power" — is classic distortion. A 6-3 ruling striking down his signature trade policy is reframed as an inadvertent gift.

2. **Lowercase punishment**: The deliberate use of "supreme court" (lowercase) as retaliatory punishment is remarkable — a symbolic demotion, treating institutional respect as a resource he controls and can withdraw.

3. **Splitting**: The three Trump-appointed dissenters are "the Great Three!" while the majority is "incompetent." Pure good/bad splitting along loyalty lines.

4. **Preemptive attack on birthright citizenship ruling**: Pivots to predict the court will also rule against him on birthright citizenship, pre-framing any future adverse ruling as corrupt. This is anticipatory devaluation.

5. **Grandiose dismissal**: "I have a job to do" — positioning himself as above the judiciary, unbothered, moving forward despite their interference.

### Cognitive Observations
The post is long and meandering but internally coherent by Trump standards. The legal reasoning about licenses and fees is confused ("You do a license to get a fee!" is not legally meaningful), but this reflects baseline legal illiteracy rather than cognitive decline. The 14th Amendment argument about "babies of slaves" and Civil War timing is a simplified but not incoherent historical claim.

### Danger Assessment
The deliberate institutional delegitimization of the Supreme Court — lowercasing, calling them incompetent, predicting they'll side with China — represents escalating rhetoric against judicial independence. The framing that courts serve foreign adversaries edges toward portraying judges as enemies of the state.

## Fact Verification

| Claim | Verdict | Evidence |
|-------|---------|----------|
| "The Supreme Court gave me far more powers than I had prior to the ruling" | **False** | The 6-3 ruling struck down IEEPA tariffs, removing a major presidential power; it did not expand executive authority |
| "The court approved all other Tariffs" | **Half True** | The ruling specifically addressed IEEPA authority; tariffs under other statutes (Section 301, Section 232) were not directly affected, but the ruling did not 'approve' them either |
| "The 14th Amendment was written to take care of the babies of slaves, proven by the EXACT TIMING coinciding with the END OF THE CIVIL WAR" | **Half True** | The 14th Amendment (ratified 1868) was primarily designed to grant citizenship to freed slaves. However, its citizenship clause was deliberately written broadly ('All persons born...') and birthright citizenship has been upheld for over a century in Wong Kim Ark (1898) |
| "China and others are making an absolute fortune on Birthright Citizenship" | **Mostly False** | Birth tourism exists but is marginal; characterizing it as nations 'making a fortune' grossly overstates the phenomenon and mischaracterizes how birthright citizenship functions |

Overall Veracity: 30%

> "The 14th Amendment was written to take care of the babies of slaves, proven by the EXACT TIMING coinciding with the END OF THE CIVIL WAR"

**vs.**

> "The 14th Amendment had everything to do with giving Citizenship to former slaves"

The source claims the 14th Amendment was written for the 'babies of slaves' (i.e., children born to formerly enslaved people — a birthright citizenship framing). Candidate 2 says it was written to give citizenship to 'former slaves' themselves. These are distinct and conflicting claims about the amendment's intended beneficiaries: one points to the children, the other to the freed people directly. Both posts are arguing against modern birthright citizenship, but the factual premise about who the amendment covered shifts between the two posts.

## That day

_From trump.fm's machine-generated digest of the day, not his words._

**He demoted the "supreme court" to lowercase, then threatened higher tariffs than the ones it had just struck down**

Trump spent the day still chewing on the Supreme Court ruling that struck down his tariffs three days earlier, and by early morning he was announcing he would write "supreme court" in lowercase until further notice. He insisted the loss had actually handed him more power, then threatened any country that tries to "play games" with the decision with even steeper tariffs — while his administration quietly signed a proclamation routing around the ruling under a different law. The middle of the day was a burst of borrowed praise: Border Patrol union endorsements, Fox segments, a Florida campaign announcement. He resurfaced after a six-hour afternoon silence to publicly correct reports that his top general opposes war with Iran, then closed on a friendly note about saving Utah's Great Salt Lake. A poll putting his approval at a record low, a blizzard shutting down New York, and a canal-ports win in Panama all went unmentioned.
