## Post text

> “Too Late” Powell complains about costs, much of which were produced by the Biden Fake “Government,” but he could do the biggest and best job for our Country by helping to lower Interest Rates and, if he reduced them to the number they should be, 1% to 2%, that “numbskull” would be saving the United States of America up to $1 Trillion Dollars per year. I fully understand that my strong criticism of him makes it more difficult for him to do what he should be doing, lowering Rates, but I’ve tried it all different ways. I’ve been nice, I’ve been neutral, and I’ve been nasty, and nice and neutral didn’t work! He’s a dumb guy, and an obvious Trump Hater, who should have never been there, I listened to someone that I shouldn’t have listened to, and Biden shouldn’t have reappointed him. We have virtually No Inflation, our Economy is doing really well, and will soon be doing, with the tremendous Tariff Income coming in, and Factories being built all over the Country, better than it has ever done before. If he was concerned about Inflation or anything else, then all he has to do is bring the Rate down, so we can benefit on Interest Costs, and raise it in the future when and if these “other elements” happen (which I doubt they will!).  Don’t say that you think there will be Inflation sometime in the future, because there isn’t now but, if there is, raise the Rates! We should be at the TOP of the attached List, not the bottom. I don’t know why the Board doesn’t override this Total and Complete Moron! Maybe, just maybe, I’ll have to change my mind about firing him? But regardless, his Term ends shortly!

# Analysis

_Machine-generated by trump.fm on 2026-03-22T02:15:51.927Z (UTC): a model's reading of this post, not his words. Its psychological terms describe the language, not a clinical assessment of him._

## Summary

This extended attack on Fed Chair Powell is psychologically significant for its rare moment of explicit self-awareness: Trump acknowledges his criticism is counterproductive, describes cycling through nice/neutral/nasty approaches, and concludes only aggression works. This reveals ego-syntonic aggression — he sees the problem clearly but chooses escalation anyway, framing it as empirically justified. The post combines grandiose economic claims (rates should be 1-2%, "virtually No Inflation") with progressive devaluation of Powell through escalating insults, culminating in a veiled firing threat. The admission of a past appointment mistake is immediately displaced onto unnamed advisors and Biden. The mixed narcissistic state — oscillating between grandiose policy pronouncements and vulnerable acknowledgment of his own counterproductive behavior — is characteristic of Trump under sustained frustration. The instrumental framing of interpersonal relationships (trying different manipulation strategies) and the contempt for institutional independence (why doesn't the Board "override" the Chair) reflect core personality features: extremely high agency motivation, very low agreeableness, and authoritarian schemas about how power should function.

## Psychological Analysis: Anti-Powell Interest Rate Tirade (2025-06-20)

### Overview
A lengthy, emotionally charged attack on Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell demanding interest rate cuts to 1-2%. This is one of Trump's most characteristic post types — the Fed rate rant — combining grandiosity, devaluation of authority figures, and self-aware meta-commentary about his own rhetorical strategies.

### Authorship
Strongly authentic. The post exhibits stream-of-consciousness structure, escalating emotional intensity, characteristic capitalization patterns, personal insults ("numbskull," "dumb guy," "Total and Complete Moron"), and a notable moment of self-reflection ("I fully understand that my strong criticism of him makes it more difficult..."). The meta-awareness of his own counterproductive behavior, followed by doubling down anyway, is quintessential Trump. Posted ~5:58 PM ET (likely in DC area given recent birthday parade), which is late afternoon — borderline timing, but the content and style are unmistakably authentic.

### Psychological Dynamics
The most psychologically revealing passage: "I've been nice, I've been neutral, and I've been nasty, and nice and neutral didn't work!" This is a rare moment of explicit self-narration about interpersonal strategy — Trump frames his relationship with Powell as a series of experiments in manipulation, concluding that only aggression works. This reflects an instrumental view of relationships typical of high-agency, low-agreeableness individuals.

The admission "I listened to someone that I shouldn't have listened to" (regarding Powell's original appointment) is a displaced self-criticism — blame is partially accepted but immediately redirected to an unnamed advisor and to Biden for reappointing Powell.

### Narcissistic Dynamics
The post oscillates between grandiose and vulnerable states within sentences. Grandiose: claiming rates should be 1-2% (far below any mainstream economic recommendation), asserting "virtually No Inflation." Vulnerable: acknowledging his criticism is counterproductive, admitting a past mistake. The veiled firing threat ("Maybe, just maybe, I'll have to change my mind about firing him?") serves as a dominance display — keeping Powell uncertain while maintaining the appearance of restraint.

### Economic Claims
The claim that rates should be 1-2% and that this would save "$1 Trillion Dollars per year" is economically dubious. The claim of "virtually No Inflation" contradicts most economic data from the tariff period. The characterization of Fed board dynamics ("why doesn't the Board override") misrepresents how the FOMC functions.

### Defense Mechanisms
- **Devaluation**: Progressive escalation of insults (Too Late → numbskull → dumb guy → Total and Complete Moron)
- **Projection**: Attributes "Trump Hater" motive to Powell rather than acknowledging policy disagreement
- **Rationalization**: The self-aware passage about trying different approaches functions as rationalization for continued verbal abuse
- **Denial**: "Virtually No Inflation" despite tariff-driven price increases

### Rhetorical Techniques
The nickname "Too Late Powell" is classic Trump branding — sticky, rhythmic, and implying a specific failure. The rhetorical structure of escalating insults creates a firehose effect. The parenthetical hedging "(which I doubt they will!)" and the quasi-question format ("Maybe, just maybe...") create plausible deniability around the firing threat.

## Fact Verification

| Claim | Verdict | Evidence |
|-------|---------|----------|
| "We have virtually No Inflation" | **Mostly False** | Tariff-driven price increases were creating inflationary pressure throughout 2025; CPI was not near zero |
| "Rates should be 1-2% and this would save $1 Trillion per year" | **Mostly False** | 1-2% rates are far below any mainstream economic recommendation for 2025 conditions. The $1 trillion savings figure is unsubstantiated and likely inflated. |
| "Factories being built all over the Country" | **Half True** | Some manufacturing investment announcements were made, but 'all over the Country' is hyperbolic |

## That day

_From trump.fm's machine-generated digest of the day, not his words._

**Evening Rage Spiral Follows Day of Victory Laps as Named Targets Pile Up**

Trump spent the day celebrating wins — a Ninth Circuit court ruling on the National Guard, border crossing stats, and a DRC-Rwanda treaty — while promoting his tax bill. The mood shifted sharply in the early evening, when he launched extended attacks on Fed Chair Powell and Fox News host Jessica Tarlov, the latter a particularly personal broadside targeting her voice, manner, and competence for reporting unfavorable poll numbers. A long post about the Congo treaty doubled as a thinly veiled grievance about never receiving a Nobel Peace Prize. The day's pattern was familiar: victories weren't enough to sustain the mood, and by sundown, grievance and personal attacks dominated.
