## What the media says

**Video transcript** (7:40), transcribed automatically, so names and numbers may be wrong. Speakers aren't identified, so a voice in it may not be his:

> And tonight we have a new report from JustTheNews.com revealing that U.S. Customs and Border Protection is now warning in an internal memo that heightened tensions in the Middle East mean a higher risk of terrorists getting smuggled across the border into this country. John Solomon will be here in a moment. But also tonight there are serious questions that are swirling around the military service record of Kamala's running mate, Tim Walz. In fact, the Minnesota National Guard is disputing Walz's military biography, all but accusing him of inflating his rank. A statement from the Minnesota Guard to this show confirms that Walz retired from the military prior to his unit's deployment to Iraq was demoted upon retirement because he had not completed the required coursework. And Walz is also accused of abandoning his platoon, quitting before that deployment to Iraq. Despite his prior claims, Walz never served in a war or a combat zone. Earlier tonight, a guest on the Ingram-Angels show, Laura, had this to say about Walz's time in the Guard. Watch this. Yeah, he was in for 24 years and he quit. Well, okay, so that's what you did. But don't try to make it look like you were a command sergeant major. Don't try to make it look like you were going to some place that was in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. I mean, granted, you know, that's just all embellishment and lies to try to make things look better. Coming up, too. We've also uncovered a 2005 press release from Walz's congressional campaign, which he is quoted as saying, "As a command sergeant major, I have a responsibility not only to ready my battalion for Iraq, but also to serve if I am called. I am dedicated to serving my country to the best of my ability, whether that is in Washington, D.C. or in Iraq." And again, to reiterate, he instead chose to retire, got demoted from that rank as a result, never deployed. A statement from the Harris campaign also confirms that after 24 years of military service, Walz retired in 2005 and says he will continue to be a champion for veterans should he become vice president. All right, here with the full report analysis, John Solomon, JustTheNews.com. And by the way, Minnesota National Guard veteran himself, our friend, our colleague, Fox and Friends weekend co-host, Pete Hegset, John, let's start with the news with you. What do we know? Because didn't he also say that 18 to 24 year old, that was Kamala, who said that they were stupid. And didn't he also say that 19 year olds in the guard are basically cooks. And didn't he once say that, oh, that's right. These are the weapons that I used when I was in war. Did he say that too? He did. Listen, he's sometimes a comedian, but in this case, he's a charlatan. His own official biography on the state of Minnesota government website, the governor's website falsely claimed that he retired as a command sergeant. And he was not, he retired as a master sergeant, not as a command sergeant major. That's a really big difference. The reason he retired at the lower rank is he was demoted because he didn't complete his required training and other obligations when he left the military before being deployed to Iraq. And instead he ran for Congress. If you can't get your basic record right in the military, not only are you disserving the American people, you're dishonoring veterans who had that rank or who did stay in, who did go into combat. I think it's going to become an issue that won't go away. And by the way, you were talking about the media. The hill tonight is still reporting the old story. It's still reporting other newspapers still reporting. He retired as a command sergeant major. He did not. And I think that that's important. It's on the record from the national guard. It isn't that hard for journalism to get it right. Yeah. Pete, is this a case of stolen valor as, uh, well, people he served with now claim and did he also lie about being a head coach? He did. He was an assistant coach. He was a linebackers coach, a defensive coach. That's great. That's important, but not the head coach. Uh, John Solomon is completely correct. This is a case of stolen valor. Sean, I don't say that lightly. This is a guy who ran for Congress in 2006 while his men were doing 22 months in Iraq, 22 months, the Minnesota national guard ended up doing in combat in Iraq. And you know what they can't do when they're deployed? They can't speak. So they couldn't contradict the claims he was making that he was the highest serving enlisted member ever to be elected to Congress. He retired when he was a command sergeant major, but he was actually just a sergeant major. And to keep that rank, you have to complete the sergeant major's academy, which he never did, which means when he quit, he gets demoted to E eight was a master sergeant. He knew that when he retired, he knew it when he claimed to be a command sergeant major. It was all lie. And that is absolutely stolen valor. And by the way, he likes to say he was in support of operation, enduring freedom. I deployed to Guantanamo Bay in 2004. We were not in combat. We were in support of what we're doing in Afghanistan. Cause they were sending the Taliban over. I never claimed to be in combat. Yet he all pull the tape. Let's find him, Sean. They're all over the place. He's, he's convoluting his words about whether he was in combat or not. This is all words though, Sean. Okay. I got more though. Go ahead. All right. So no, no, no. Okay. I would normally serve anybody. I would normally praise anybody that served in the guard. I normally would, but he referred to guardsmen as 19 year old cooks. And then he said, we can make sure that those weapons of war I carried in war is the only place where those weapons are at. This is what he said. We can do background checks. We can do CDC research. We can make sure we don't have reciprocal carry among state and we can make sure that those weapons of war that I carried in war is the only place where those weapons were at. Okay. Well, he never carried a war. Never. That's why he was in Italy for six months supported. That's fine. Total lie. And he knew it at the time in the entire time he was, he was the command sergeant major. He's in charge of the logistics, the training, the emotional support, the preparation for every man in his battalion, a field artillery battalion, a very important role if you're headed to Iraq. And when he got the orders and the notification that his men were going to combat, he said, I quit. I'm out. I'm done. And he had two years left. Exactly what happened. And he had two years left in his contract, but he was beyond his retirement. So he could work his way to get out of his contract, which he did. You know what the real, the real phrase is for guys that serve with Tim Walz is no, it's Tim a walls, exit questions. When his men needed him, he left, he bailed. He did not deploy. He spent 24 years in the military, Sean. You go with your men to combat if you care about those men. But if you don't, you care about yourself and politics, you stay home. And that's what Tim Walz did. And that's why so many people are frustrated and angry about this. He's Tim a walls in my book. It's interesting, uh, the lie about George W. Bush ended Dan Rather's career over a similar issue. Uh, my question is, is this stolen valor John Solomon? Listen, it's a lie to the American people. And it's a dishonor to every person who served in the ranks and actually deployed and actually had the rank of a command sergeant major. Uh, he'll have to be held accountable. The American people have to hold him accountable. Let's get the media getting reported. Pete has it exactly right. Just exit. Yes or no stolen valor Pete. Of course. Absolutely.

# Analysis

_Machine-generated by trump.fm on 2026-03-25T07:22:17.367Z (UTC): a model's reading of this post, not his words. Its psychological terms describe the language, not a clinical assessment of him._

## Summary

Single-line campaign attack headline deployed 48 hours after Tim Walz's VP selection, one node in a coordinated same-day rapid-response operation. The most clinically notable feature is projection: attacking an opponent's military service record while possessing a well-documented personal history of five Vietnam-era deferments, including medical deferment for bone spurs (1968). This repeating pattern — spanning the 2000 McCain attacks through the 2024 Walz attacks — represents one of the more documented projective sequences in the subject's public record. The rhetorical mechanism "questions swirl" is textbook deniable insinuation: asserting controversy without a falsifiable claim, passivizing the attack source, and borrowing journalistic headline framing to simulate organic news coverage rather than opposition research deployment. Authorship assessment is mixed: late-evening timing (10:12 PM EDT) falls in the authentic window, but coordinated volume and clean formatting suggest aide execution with possible directional input. Psychological state is operationally grandiose — preemptive attack mode, no rage or vulnerability markers. No danger indicators. Not individually clinically significant, but part of a broader Walz-definition campaign whose projective structure merits flagging for longitudinal tracking.

# Analysis: "QUESTIONS SWIRL AROUND WALZ'S SERVICE RECORD" — Truth Social, 2024-08-08

## Contextual Frame

This post arrives 48 hours after Kamala Harris selected Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate (August 6, 2024), as part of a coordinated same-day rapid-response campaign. On the same day, the account also published: "WALZ PUNISHED BUSINESSES & PEOPLE DURING COVID," "HIDING HARRIS," and "VETTING TIM WALZ'S EXTREME RECORD" — all in identical headline-plus-video format. This is opposition research deployment, not organic expression.

---

## Authorship Attribution

**Estimated local time:** UTC 02:12 → 10:12 PM EDT (Trump likely at Bedminster, NJ in August recess)

The 10:12 PM Eastern time falls in Trump's authentic posting window (late evening). However, the post's integration into a multi-post coordinated rapid-response sequence, its clean headline-only format, the absence of any stylistic fingerprints (no typos, no emotional asides, no capitalization variance beyond the headline itself), and the attached video asset all point toward **aide-produced content** — likely Scavino-directed campaign rapid response — possibly with directional input from Trump but executed by staff. **Assessment: mixed, leaning aide (0.4/1.0).**

---

## Level 1: Dispositional Traits (Big Five)

The post is too minimal for full trait mapping, but dominant facets visible:
- **Agreeableness (very low):** Pure attack posture, no hedging, no acknowledgment of nuance
- **Extraversion (assertiveness facet, high):** Bold, declarative, zero-qualification attack style
- **Openness (very low):** Closed, categorical framing of opponent

---

## Level 2: Characteristic Adaptations — Motives & Schemas

**Dominant motive:** Power/agency (0.85). The post is about controlling the definition of a new opponent before the opponent can self-define. No communion motive present.

**Schemas activated:**
- *Self:* Gatekeeper of truth; exposer of what corrupt media conceals
- *Other (Walz):* Unvetted threat; potential fraud
- *World:* Arena of hidden records and concealed truths requiring constant vigilance

---

## Level 3: Narrative Identity

**Protagonist role:** The Exposer — the one who surfaces suppressed truth. Not hero/savior here, but the investigative authority who vets what establishment fails to vet.

**Narrative sequence:** Contamination — a seemingly credentialed figure (National Guard veteran, Governor) is being revealed as compromised. Good narrative → corrupted by hidden record.

**Contrasting other:** Walz as the unexamined, potentially fraudulent opponent; by contrast, the subject is transparent and tested.

**Identity claim:** "I am the one who asks the questions others won't."

---

## Level 4: Clinical Indicators

### Malignant Narcissism
- **Narcissistic features (0.6):** Grandiosity expressed through positioning as sole arbiter of opponents' legitimacy; entitlement to define others
- **Antisocial features (0.3):** Deniable insinuation without evidentiary support; disregard for opponent's right to presumption
- **Paranoid features (0.2):** Minimal in this post; vigilance framing present but not dominant
- **Sadism (0.2):** Clinical pleasure in exposure-as-attack present but not prominent

### Narcissistic Dynamics
**Trigger type:** Preemptive attack. Walz's selection represents a new threat-object requiring immediate negative definition. The speed (48 hours post-announcement) is characteristic of supply-protection: a new, potentially popular figure must be damaged before he consolidates positive public identity.

**Narcissistic state:** Grandiose — confident, operational, dominant. No vulnerability markers present.

---

## Defense Mechanisms

### Projection (Immature — prominent)
The most clinically salient feature of this post is its **projective structure**. The subject possesses a documented personal history of military service avoidance (five Vietnam-era deferments, including medical deferment for bone spurs, 1968). Attacks on opponents' military service records — most notably the 2000 campaign against John McCain, and now Walz — constitute a recurring projective pattern: disowned shame about service avoidance is managed by relocating service-inadequacy onto opponent-targets.

This is not occasional; it is a documented repeating pattern across decades, which strengthens the clinical inference from pattern to mechanism.

### Splitting (Immature)
Walz's 24-year National Guard service is framed as entirely suspect; no complexity is acknowledged. Black-and-white structure: either service record is unimpeachable, or it is disqualifying.

---

## Rhetorical & Propaganda Analysis

**Primary technique: Deniable insinuation / "Just Asking Questions" (JAQ)**

"Questions swirl around Walz's service record" is a refined propaganda construct. By passivizing the attack source ("questions swirl" — not "I allege," not "we charge"), the poster:
1. Asserts controversy without making a falsifiable specific claim
2. Prevents accountability for the specific assertion
3. Frames targeted opposition research as organic ambient public concern
4. Borrows journalistic headline authority without journalistic accountability

The attached MP4 extends the attack beyond the text's deliberate vagueness — the video presumably makes specific claims the text strategically withholds.

**Additional techniques:**
- ALL CAPS urgency/alarm amplification (simulates breaking news importance)
- Faux-journalistic headline framing (syntactically mimics news alerts)
- Part of same-day RAND Firehose pattern: volume + repetition across multiple posts creates illusion of broad multi-front concern

**Violent imagery:** None
**Dehumanizing language:** None
**Stochastic terrorism indicators:** None

## Fact Verification

| Claim | Verdict | Evidence |
|-------|---------|----------|
| "Questions swirl around Walz's service record" | **Half True** | Documented controversies exist: (1) Walz retired from MN Army National Guard in 2005 before his unit deployed to Iraq — critics alleged timing was deployment avoidance; (2) Walz used 'Command Sergeant Major' title for a rank whose promotion was not completed before his 2005 retirement. Both controversies are real. However, 'questions swirl' frames targeted opposition research as organic ambient public concern, misrepresenting source and scale. |

Overall Veracity: 50%

## Cognitive Status

Single-phrase headline provides insufficient text for cognitive marker assessment. The format is deliberately minimal and is not diagnostic.

---

## Archetypal Analysis

**Primary archetype:** Trickster-as-Revealer — disrupting the Harris/Walz "new chapter" narrative by surfacing suppressed information. Secondary: Warrior (constant combat mode, new enemy identified).

**Shadow projection:** Subject's own service-record vulnerability is the shadow element projected onto Walz.

**Mythological narrative:** The unmasking — the apparently heroic figure (decorated veteran/Governor) revealed as fraud. Appeals to audiences with unresolved anxieties about credential inflation and establishment protection of their own.

---

## Order/Chaos Dynamics

**Positioning:** Order-attacker — the existing political order (establishment media, Democratic Party) is accused of protecting Walz's record from scrutiny. Subject positions as chaos-into-order agent: introducing disruption to reveal concealed truth.

**Grievance:** Implied grievance is meritocratic — those with inflated records receiving unearned status. Intensity: moderate (0.5).

---

## Danger Assessment

**Level: None.** Standard political opposition attack. No eliminationist language, no dehumanization, no mobilization cues, no stochastic terrorism indicators.

---

## Summary Judgment

Operationally competent campaign rapid-response, psychologically notable primarily for its projective structure. The post's clinical interest lies less in what it says than in what it reveals about the subject's own disowned vulnerabilities around military service.

## Authorship Analysis

**Uncertain** (score: 40%)

## Fact Checks (1)

_The model's verdicts from 2026-03-25._

> Questions swirl around Walz's service record

**HALF TRUE**

Documented controversies exist: (1) Walz retired from MN Army National Guard in 2005 before his unit deployed to Iraq — critics alleged timing was deployment avoidance; (2) Walz used 'Command Sergeant Major' title for a rank whose promotion was not completed before his 2005 retirement. ## That day

_From trump.fm's machine-generated digest of the day, not his words._

**Harris-Walz Ticket Triggers 51-Post Blitz: Multi-Vector Attack Campaign with Sustained Projection Dynamics**

Trump unleashed an unusually high-volume day of posting -- 51 in total -- almost entirely focused on defining the newly formed Harris-Walz ticket as dangerous, criminal, and illegitimate. The morning brought a long, emotionally charged attack on Harris that peaked in catastrophist language about national destruction, followed by a midday escalation where he labeled critics of his allied judges as "CRIMINALS" committing "ILLEGAL" acts. A brief flash of vulnerability appeared when he complained about media ignoring his crowd sizes while amplifying Harris's. The day closed with a sweeping demand that all his legal cases be dismissed, revealing the sustained pressure of Jack Smith's revised indictment running beneath the campaign bluster.
