The price soaring more than 50% in the first few minutes of trading that triggered a halt on the NASDAQ. It still ended up about 16% from the opening price of around $50, it closed at around 58 bucks a share. It's actually up even higher than that in after hours trading. The company is trading under the DJT ticker symbol, that'll be easy to find. According to CNBC, it was one of the most traded stocks on the NASDAQ today. Trump's windfall from Truth Social now puts him among the 500 richest people on the planet. Shareholders voted Friday to approve a merger with Trump Social Media Company, and Devin Nunes is the CEO of Trump Media and Technology Group, and he joins us now. Devin, good to see you, and congratulations, this has been a huge project for you. What did you make of today and the popularity of this stock? Well, look, the American people have been asking for this. We are the leaders of free speech. We effectively have saved free speech with this company. You have to remember, we're not using any of the big tech platforms that other companies in the past used and then got shut down. What was different with this is that we were not allowed to go public for over two and a half years. They basically cut off the capital market. I would say, look, we're glad that we're here. I have to say too, Rob, that Newsmax has been phenomenal. They've been very supportive of the platform. Now we go from just an R&D platform with a massive following because of our namesake, DJT, which I think has heads exploding all over New York City right now, especially within the confines of your city there. The bottom line is that we are here, we're here for a long time with this capital infusion. We have no debt, and we're going to continue to grow. We've been very clear that we're out to build the entire highway, the entire ecosystem so that the American people can never be shut down. At 58 bucks a share, the company is worth close to $8 billion, which is just an astounding amount of money. It's almost hard to wrap your head around for a social media company. You've got the corporate media right now, and you're not surprised by this, but they're trashing all of this. From CNN, they're saying that experts warn its multi-billion dollar valuation defies logic. They're comparing this to GameStop, which is a company at a stock that was basically just propped up based on nostalgia and people's feelings for it. What do you say to that? Well, look, this is about your voice and your freedom, and this is a way to invest in that freedom. We're really at the confluence of this. I would argue that very clearly that if you look at a lot of the tech companies that have been out there for many, many years, many have not been profitable for decades or decades. If you look at the efficiency that we've built into our platform, we run very efficiently. It's one of the things that we've been able to do over the last couple of years. True Social is just the first feature. It's what we're known for. It's our number one feature right now, but actually, Chris Reddy from Newsmax knows this. We've been researching and looking at streaming so that we're not just going to be that company that's just a Twitter or an Instagram or a TikTok or what people know about. We're building the entire ecosystem. I would argue I like our position a lot better than, say, a Reddit that went public this week. I don't have anything against Reddit. It's a great platform. But you have to remember, we actually have true social groups within our platform. We launched that six months ago. It's getting better and better and better, and I would say that within probably, it's always hard to predict, but I'd say another year or two, we're going to have basically the best of Reddit, the best of Twitter, the best of Facebook, and all of that, not to mention everything else that we're working on that I think is critically important for not only the success of our company, but we're here to protect free speech. Any indications? They're all out there speculating that the moment that Trump can bail and sell his stock that he would do that. What's your response to that? The president, he led this effort. You have to remember, I like to tell people. That Trump didn't need a new company, and I didn't need a new job. I think the last thing any of us are going to do is bail on this company. I think the shareholders that have invested this and have been very patient, there's over 400,000 people who have invested in our company so far. Look, we hope more and more people will invest because we believe in the cause, the president believes in the cause, and look, he uses the platform all of the time, and we're just going to make it better and better, and hopefully, for folks like Newsmax and others out there who have been-- you guys, as you know, Rob, you're not treated fairly in the marketplace. That's the other thing we're doing. We're working closely. We've worked closely with a company called Rumble. We work very closely with them. They've developed an advertising center. We beta tested that for them. We're actually-- we don't even have to use any of the old ad center. Over time, what are we going to need? We're going to need more and more of non-woke companies to invest into our platform, advertising our platform. Over time, Newsmax and others should be able to take advantage of the whole ecosystem. That's a real fight because they are coming for conservative speech, for speech that they don't approve of in every way they can. They're going after our advertisers, they're going after the people that carry us, that every possible maneuver they can take is a full-on assault on free speech.
