## What the media says

**Video transcript** (2:00), transcribed automatically, so names and numbers may be wrong. Speakers aren't identified, so a voice in it may not be his:

> So there it goes again. The price of gasoline is skyrocketing and just like the old days under Biden and came down a little bit but it's going up and it's going up big. It's nearing $4 a gallon in many states and much more than that in some. Prices are up almost 6% in the last month alone and they'll be going even higher. It's going to go higher and higher. The price of gasoline affects everyone and everything. American families are paying for it not only at the pump but also in the cost of your groceries your package deliveries and virtually everything you have and everything you buy. Joe Biden actually wants high gas prices because they help with his ridiculous policy of abolishing gasoline powered engines and forcing everyone into expensive all electric cars that don't go very far as you know and they take a long time to charge up. That's why when Joe Biden came into office he shut down the Keystone XL pipeline which was a travesty. He canceled our oil leases in Alaska but he approved the Russian pipeline going to Germany and all over Europe and he waged war on American energy. That's what he did. He waged war on anything American having to do with energy. In addition Joe Biden's weakness plunged the world into chaos and conflict further driving up the prices you're paying at the pump and they're going higher and fast. When I'm reelected reducing the price of gasoline for American families will be a day one priority and that includes electricity and everything else that comes with it. We will drill baby drill we will slash energy crushing regulations and we will restore peace and stability to bring gasoline prices down for everybody. Remember three years ago we were energy independent and now our country is a mess. Thank you very much.

# Analysis

_Machine-generated by trump.fm on 2026-03-21T05:52:55.705Z (UTC): a model's reading of this post, not his words. Its psychological terms describe the language, not a clinical assessment of him._

# Psychological Analysis: Truth Social Post, March 22, 2024

## Overview

A brief, video-accompanied post ("So there it goes again. The price of gasoline is skyrocketing…") that, while individually unremarkable, is psychologically significant primarily in context: it is one of at least five posts on a day when Trump faced acute personal financial crisis — inability to post a $454M bond and the threat of property seizure by the New York AG.

## Authorship Attribution

**Score: 0.78 (lean authentic)**. The UTC timestamp converts to ~6:25 PM EDT — within aide hours but not dispositive. The caption construction ("So there it goes again") is colloquially reactive in a way inconsistent with aide-drafted text, which tends toward polished declarative framing. The trailing ellipsis is a persistent authentic marker. The video may have been staged by staff while the caption was typed by Trump directly. Most probable model: hybrid production.

## Level 1 — Dispositional Traits

This post foregrounds **low agreeableness** (combative framing without named target), **moderate-high neuroticism** (reactive, anxiety-amplifying), and **high extraversion** (broadcasting to audience as shared witness). Conscientiousness is low: the post is incomplete, trailing off without argument or proposal. No policy content; purely affective.

## Level 2 — Characteristic Adaptations

Dominant motive: **agency/power**. The post is not about gasoline; it is about positioning Trump as the reliable, prescient observer whose warnings keep being vindicated. The phrase "there it goes again" encodes a prior history of prediction — implying Trump saw this coming, Biden caused it, and the audience should feel validated in their alignment with Trump. This is **supply-seeking** behavior dressed as economic commentary.

## Level 3 — Narrative Identity

**Protagonist role:** Vindicated prophet. Trump casts himself as the long-suffering truth-teller forced to watch predictable deterioration repeat. The "again" is load-bearing — it implies a continuous contamination sequence (things were good, Biden ruined them, they keep getting worse). There is no redemption arc offered in this post; it is purely contamination-phase narrative, which is consistent with the opposition posture of a challenger candidate.

## Defense Mechanisms

**Displacement (neurotic):** On the day Trump personally faced the most acute financial-legal pressure of the trial period — bond failure, property seizure — he produced multiple posts attacking Biden on immigration, Social Security, food prices, gasoline, and the judicial system. The volume and diversity of external attacks is consistent with displacement of acute narcissistic injury. Flooding the political frame with external grievances restores a sense of agency when personal circumstances are threatening.

**Rationalization (neurotic):** Framing gasoline price increases as a simple, expected, recurring pattern ("there it goes again") normalizes the attack, presenting it as neutral observation while concealing its function as political aggression.

## Rhetorical Analysis

The post is compact but mechanically efficient:

- **Resumptive dramatic opener** ("So there it goes again"): implies continuous vindicated prophecy without requiring explicit prior statement
- **Hyperbole** ("skyrocketing"): materially overstates a ~14% seasonal rise; verdict: mostly false
- **Trailing ellipsis**: shifts cognitive closure burden to audience, activating their own economic anxieties to complete the thought
- **Implicit attribution**: Biden is never named, but the causal structure is embedded — this is economically efficient framing that deflects counter-argument while achieving the rhetorical goal

## Cognitive Assessment

Post is too brief for meaningful cognitive assessment. The casual register is baseline-consistent for short reactive captions. No paraphasia, perseveration, or temporal confusion detectable. Complexity score: very low (0.18), consistent with the format rather than indicative of deficit.

## Fact Verification

| Claim | Verdict | Evidence |
|-------|---------|----------|
| "The price of gasoline is skyrocketing" | **Mostly False** | National average retail gasoline prices in the United States were approximately $3.53/gallon in mid-March 2024, up from roughly $3.09/gallon in December 2023 — a rise of ~14% over three months. While prices were trending upward seasonally (as is typical in spring), 'skyrocketing' significantly overstates the rate of increase. Prices remained well below the June 2022 peak of ~$5.01/gallon nationally. |

Overall Veracity: 20%

## Longitudinal Note

Viewed alongside the day's other posts (immigration, Social Security, fraud judgment, food prices), this post is part of a **high-output counteroffensive pattern** consistent with acute narcissistic injury response. When personal stakes are highest, posting volume and emotional range expand — a recurring observable pattern in this subject's Truth Social behavior under legal pressure.

## Danger Assessment

**None.** No violent imagery, eliminationist language, or stochastic terrorism indicators. Routine economic attack messaging.

## Authorship Analysis

**Self-Written** (score: 78%)

### Indicators

- Colloquial opener 'So there it goes again' is characteristic stream-of-consciousness phrasing
- Trailing ellipsis is a consistent authentic stylistic marker
- Reactive, incomplete thought structure consistent with impulsive posting
- 6:25 PM EDT (UTC-4, March 22 falls under EDT) — late afternoon, within aide hours but also consistent with Trump's own active posting window
- Brevity combined with a video attachment suggests possible coordination (aide-staged video, authentic caption)

## Psychological Profile

### State

**Grandiose State**

**Trigger:** Preemptive Attack (Economic conditions under Biden / media reporting on gas prices)

Sentiment: -0.55

### Clinical

**Malignant Narcissism:**
- Narcissistic: 30%
- Antisocial: 10%
- Paranoid: 10%
- Sadism: 0%

**Defense Mechanisms:**
- displacement (neurotic)
- rationalization (neurotic)

**Cognitive Complexity:**
- Complexity: 18%

**Parasocial Techniques:**
- Shared grievance construction — 'we are all watching this happen together'
- Implied continuity ('again') positioning Trump as the reliable observer who has been warning audiences all along

## That day

_From trump.fm's machine-generated digest of the day, not his words._

**Bond Crisis Siege: 43 Posts in 20 Hours as Property Seizure Threat Unleashes Year's Most Intense Posting Storm**

Trump's day was consumed by the New York fraud case — specifically the looming threat of property seizure after he failed to secure a $454 million bond. He posted 43 times across roughly 20 hours, oscillating between raw all-caps rage at the judge and attorney general, and curated legal defenses shared from Fox News commentators. A massive business win — the approval of the Truth Social merger with DWAC — went almost entirely unmentioned, buried under a flood of grievance. The most striking claim of the day was that he had "almost five hundred million dollars in cash," which directly contradicted what his own lawyers were telling the court about the impossibility of posting bond. Immigration attacks using military language like "invading army" formed a persistent secondary theme, apparently serving as an outlet for legal anxiety he couldn't otherwise discharge.
