## What the media says

**Video transcript** (3:11), transcribed automatically, so names and numbers may be wrong. Speakers aren't identified, so a voice in it may not be his:

> Ron de Sanctimonius would be a complete disaster for the American farmers and the great people of Iowa. His record on agriculture is terrible because he is totally owned by the globalist donors who would like nothing more than to outsource every American farming job to a foreign nation. And he is totally in the pocket of China. De Sanctis opposed my China tariffs and he heartlessly opposed the 28 billion dollars in relief payments to protect our farmers from Chinese abuses. If you remember, I got China to pay our American farmers 28 billion dollars for the damages that they've caused. And I don't think we're going to be losing Nebraska, Iowa, or any of the farm states because nobody else could have done what I've done. 28 billion dollars, we got it from China, we took it out of the tariffs, and I was very proud to do it. De Sanctis also totally despises ethanol. Ending the renewable fuel standard was one of his top priorities as a member of Congress. As you know, if he had it his way, the entire economy of Iowa would be wiped out because if you do that to ethanol, you're really badly hurting Iowa. De Sanctis slandered the ethanol mandate as "socialism" and he called his vicious plan to annihilate the Iowa farming industry a no-brainer. That was a no-brainer for him. In Florida, De Sanctis is famous for his cruel targeting of family farms. Just recently, De Sanctis vetoed over 130 million dollars in farm subsidies. He really hurt the farmers badly, stabbed the farmers right in the back for his own state, and nobody should be able to do what he did and nobody should be able to get away with it. He did bad for the farmers and he'll do bad for the farmers of Iowa. As president, I fought for Iowa ethanol like no president in history. Nobody's even come close. I issued a rule declaring that E15 would be made available all year round. In addition, I dramatically increased the number of fueling stations where E15 could be sold across the country by letting them use their existing pumps and saving a massive amount of money by not having to replace pumps that were actually already better. The old ones were better than the new ones. I replaced NAFTA with the USMCA Mexico Canada and negotiated dozens of incredible trade deals for our farmers. If you want to grow more farm products in the USA and defeat the anti-farmer ideology of Ron De Sanctis and the other globalists, then text Iowa to 88022 to join our campaign, register Republican, and come out to support us in the Iowa caucuses this January 15th. Big day. With your support, we will put farmers first and we will put America first. We will also make America great again. Thank you.

# Analysis

_Machine-generated by trump.fm on 2026-03-20T06:40:16.971Z (UTC): a model's reading of this post, not his words. Its psychological terms describe the language, not a clinical assessment of him._

## Summary

Posted July 27, 2023 — the same day Special Counsel Jack Smith filed a superseding indictment bringing Trump's classified documents charges to 40 counts — this brief attack on DeSantis is clinically interesting less for its content than its timing and function. The pivot to a primary rival attack on an acute legal stress day is consistent with a well-documented displacement pattern: anxious arousal from uncontrollable legal proceedings redirected toward a domain (the Republican primary) where the subject maintains commanding control and can enact dominance displays rather than experience helplessness. The grandiose narcissistic state is maintained even under acute threat — there is no visible vulnerability or defensive contraction here, which itself is noteworthy. The selection of Iowa farmers as the protected constituency is strategically precise: DeSantis was making inroads in agricultural evangelical demographics, and this post preemptively poisons that well before DeSantis can consolidate the constituency. 'DeSanctimonious' — Trump's established portmanteau — simultaneously attacks character (hypocrisy, self-righteousness) while demonstrating verbal dominance through wit. Authorship is ambiguous: the nickname and ALL CAPS are authentic Trump fingerprints, but 2:10 PM EDT timing and video attachment suggest aide involvement in production. No danger indicators; no cognitive decline markers detectable in this brief sample. Post is consistent with baseline campaign-mode behavior.

# Psychological Analysis: Trump Truth Social Post, July 27, 2023

## Post Summary
> "Ron DeSanctimonious would be a COMPLETE DISASTER for American Farmers and the people of Iowa!"
> — with attached video, 18:10 UTC (~2:10 PM EDT)

---

## I. Contextual Frame

This post lands on a day of significant legal escalation: Special Counsel Jack Smith filed a **superseding indictment adding three new felony charges** (including obstruction of justice related to alleged destruction of Mar-a-Lago surveillance footage), bringing Trump's total classified documents charges to **40 counts**. A separate same-day post references a DOJ attorney meeting "this morning." This context is essential to interpreting the post's psychological function.

---

## II. Authorship Attribution

**Score: 0.65 (lean authentic, medium confidence)**

The post occupies an authorship gray zone. The nickname "DeSanctimonious" — Trump's signature portmanteau of "DeSantis" and "sanctimonious" — is a strong authenticity marker; aides rarely deploy personal nicknames absent Trump's voice. ALL CAPS emphasis ("COMPLETE DISASTER") matches Trump's well-documented emotional punctuation pattern. Against this: the 2:10 PM EDT timing falls squarely in business hours, the attached MP4 video implies production effort beyond spontaneous posting, and the single clean sentence is more polished than Trump's stream-of-consciousness baseline. **Most probable interpretation**: Trump dictated or approved the core attack line, an aide shaped syntax and scheduled with video accompaniment.

---

## III. Level 1: Dispositional Traits (Big Five)

The post most activates:
- **Low Agreeableness** (dominant facet): hostile competitive orientation, zero concession to the target's any positive attributes
- **High Extraversion**: assertive, dominant, attention-commanding
- **Low Openness**: values rigidity, binary framing, no complexity
- **Elevated Neuroticism**: hostile aggression register (though modulated — not a rage post)

---

## IV. Level 2: Characteristic Adaptations — Motives & Schemas

**Agency motives dominate entirely** (power: 0.90; communion: 0.15). The post is a pure dominance display — no relationship building, no positive vision, no policy substance. The **power motive** is expressed through targeted destruction of a rival's standing in a specific constituency.

**Schema activation**: Iowa/farming constituency = Trump's protected in-group; DeSantis = threatening out-group interloper who must be expelled before consolidating rival support.

---

## V. Level 3: Narrative Identity

- **Protagonist role**: Champion of "forgotten" constituencies — farmers, Iowa working people
- **Contrasting other**: DeSantis — cast as the sanctimonious pretender, incompetent and dangerous to real Americans
- **Narrative sequence**: Contamination — DeSantis's rise *threatens to contaminate* the political landscape Trump claims to protect
- **Identity claims**: "I am the protector of American farmers; he is their destroyer"

The Iowa targeting is strategically precise. DeSantis was polling competitively among evangelical and agricultural demographics. This post functions to preemptively define DeSantis in the key early-state constituency before DeSantis can self-define there.

---

## VI. Level 4: Clinical Indicators

### Narcissistic Dynamics
**State: Grandiose** — notably, on a day of acute legal threat, the subject maintains an expansive dominance register rather than retreating to a vulnerable/victimized state. The DOJ meeting post from the same day shows reality acknowledgment of threat ("No indication of notice was given"); this post represents a *pivot back to dominance* — a characteristic oscillation pattern.

**Trigger**: Pre-emptive attack (neutralizing DeSantis's Iowa threat before it materializes) combined with possible displacement from legal stress.

**Narcissistic rage**: Absent. The tone is controlled, almost clinical in its efficiency. This is cold-competitive rather than hot-reactive.

### Defense Mechanisms

1. **Displacement (immature)**: The day's primary psychological pressure is the superseding indictment — an uncontrollable external threat. The attack on DeSantis redirects that anxious arousal into a controllable domain where the subject holds dominance. Classic displacement from high-stress uncontrollable stimulus to lower-stress controllable one.

2. **Splitting (immature)**: "COMPLETE DISASTER" — absolute, totalizing negative valuation. No nuance, no qualification. DeSantis is all-bad; the implicit Trump contrast is all-good.

3. **Projection (immature)**: Trump himself is simultaneously facing accusations of being a "disaster" for American democratic institutions. The "disaster" label is projected outward onto the rival.

---

## VII. Rhetorical & Propaganda Analysis

The single sentence is rhetorically dense:

- **Nickname weaponization**: "DeSanctimonious" primes the audience to perceive DeSantis as a hypocritical, self-righteous fraud *before* any policy argument is made. It functions as a cognitive anchor that colors all subsequent DeSantis-related information.
- **Hyperbole**: "COMPLETE DISASTER" — absolute catastrophization forecloses nuance
- **Tribal constituency appeal**: "American Farmers" and "people of Iowa" — precision targeting activates specific in-group identity, positions Trump as their defender
- **Predictive certainty**: "would be" stated as foreclosed fact, not contested opinion
- **Exclamation amplifier**: Emotional urgency signal

**No dehumanizing language, no violent imagery, no stochastic terrorism indicators.** This is conventional competitive political attack speech, albeit maximally compressed.

---

## VIII. Fact Verification

**Claim**: "Ron DeSanctimonious would be a COMPLETE DISASTER for American Farmers and the people of Iowa"

**Verdict: Unverifiable (as stated)**. This is a predictive hyperbolic political opinion presented as certain fact. DeSantis's Florida agricultural record does not straightforwardly support the "disaster for farmers" framing; he expressed support for ethanol mandates (salient to Iowa), though his broader policy positions created some complications with Iowa's agricultural establishment. The absolutist framing ("COMPLETE DISASTER") is opinion amplified beyond any evidential standard.

---

## IX. Order/Chaos Dynamics

The post positions Trump as **order restorer** against a would-be chaos agent (DeSantis). Iowa farmers represent "real Americans" whose ordered economic life DeSantis supposedly threatens. This maps onto the broader Trump narrative architecture: established order for in-group constituencies, chaos for perceived elites/pretenders.

---

## X. Cognitive Status

The post is too brief for meaningful cognitive baseline comparison. "DeSanctimonious" as a portmanteau demonstrates intact verbal creativity and consistent maintenance of established branding. No word-finding difficulties, paraphasia, temporal confusion, or perseveration detectable. **No cognitive markers of concern in this sample.**

---

## XI. Danger Assessment: **None**

No eliminationist language, no dehumanization, no violent imagery, no mobilization calls. Standard competitive primary attack speech.

---

## XII. Longitudinal Note

Same-day posting sequence is revealing: (1) Erie rally announcement, (2) DOJ meeting/legal post, (3) this DeSantis attack. The sequence suggests a psychological rhythm — legal acknowledgment followed by aggressive political offense. This pattern of rapid pivot from defensive acknowledgment to dominant attack is consistent with prior observed behavior under legal pressure and merits continued longitudinal tracking.

## Fact Verification

| Claim | Verdict | Evidence |
|-------|---------|----------|
| "Ron DeSanctimonious would be a COMPLETE DISASTER for American Farmers and the people of Iowa" | **Unverifiable** | This is a predictive political opinion framed as certain fact. DeSantis's actual agricultural policy record as Florida governor is not self-evidently hostile to farmers; he had expressed support for ethanol mandates (important to Iowa) while simultaneously taking some positions that complicated his Iowa agricultural appeal. The absolutist 'COMPLETE DISASTER' framing is hyperbolic opinion, not factual claim. No objective standard exists to verify a counterfactual presidential outcome. |

Overall Veracity: 50%

## Authorship Analysis

**Uncertain** (score: 65%)

### Indicators

- 'DeSanctimonious' is a signature Trump coinage deployed repeatedly in prior posts — unlikely an aide would use it without direction
- ALL CAPS 'COMPLETE DISASTER' matches authentic Trump emotional emphasis pattern
- UTC 18:10:52 = ~2:10 PM EDT — business hours, which tilts toward aide assistance
- Attached video (mp4) implies production effort beyond a spontaneous post
- Syntactically complete single sentence is cleaner than typical stream-of-consciousness Trump

## Psychological Profile

## Fact Checks (1)

_The model's verdicts from 2026-03-20._

> Ron DeSanctimonious would be a COMPLETE DISASTER for American Farmers and the people of Iowa

## That day

_From trump.fm's machine-generated digest of the day, not his words._

**40 Counts Land; Four Posts Trace Arc from Rally Defiance to Prosecutor Targeting**

A quiet day by posting volume but one entirely shaped by the superseding indictment that brought classified documents charges to 40 counts. Trump opened with a late-night rally announcement projecting confidence, then went silent for over 12 hours as the news broke. He resurfaced in the afternoon to claim his lawyers had a "productive meeting" with the DOJ -- a framing that strained credulity given the day's developments. The mood darkened by evening when he shared an article calling for the prosecution of the prosecutors investigating him, his most aggressive move of the day.
