## Analysis: Jon Voight Golf Post (2023-03-23)

This is a light, social post about actor Jon Voight hitting golf balls at Trump International Golf Club, Palm Beach. It stands in stark contrast to the surrounding posts, which are ALL CAPS rage about the Manhattan DA investigation. This juxtaposition is itself notable.

### Authorship
Posted at 10:32 AM ET (Trump at Mar-a-Lago/Palm Beach). Business hours, polished grammar, no typos, promotional tone about Trump property. Classic aide/Scavino content.

### Psychological Context
Amid an intensely stressful period (imminent indictment), this post serves as **normalcy signaling** — projecting calm, leisure, and elite social life while other posts scream persecution. The pattern of alternating between rageful ALL CAPS posts and serene lifestyle content is characteristic.

### Content Notes

- The claim about Voight's father being a "highly respected PGA Golf Professional" is verifiable — Elmer Voight was indeed a golf pro at a country club in Yonkers, NY
- Functions as both celebrity endorsement and Trump property promotion

### Rhetorical Function
Supply-maintenance post: keeps audience engaged with aspirational lifestyle content between grievance posts. Also serves narcissistic supply by associating with celebrity admirers.

## That day

_From trump.fm's machine-generated digest of the day, not his words._

**Dehumanization and Mobilization Signals Escalate as Manhattan Indictment Looms**

Trump spent the day in sustained agitation over the approaching Manhattan DA indictment, producing 35 posts — roughly double his normal output. The mood swung between furious all-caps attacks on prosecutors (calling DA Bragg an "animal" and opponents "human scum") and strategic political hits on Ron DeSantis, who had just publicly mocked him over the hush money case. A midday burst of seven article links in ten minutes betrayed frantic behind-the-scenes efforts to build a defense narrative. The most alarming moment came in the afternoon, when Trump combined dehumanizing language with the signal that his supporters "are not going to take it anymore" — echoing his pre-January 6th rhetoric. Throughout it all, he promoted his upcoming Waco rally, chosen as a symbolically loaded venue during the anniversary of the 1993 federal siege.
