The one big beautiful bill is a big first step to provide relief for the American people. This is the largest most consequential piece of legislation in my lifetime. We are saving over a trillion and a half dollars, 1.6 trillion dollars. That's the largest amount of savings ever garnered in 250 years of this country. No tax on tips, no tax on overtime. We funded our border, funded our border patrol people, built the wall, did all the things the president wants to do on the border. There's so much in it for national defense but that's just one small part. We're unleashing American energy. It actually looks at how we are helping the average American worker. We want to provide this tax cut to not just restart the economy in a bigger way but to put more money back in people's pockets. Americans are demanding more fiscal responsibility. So we put it in the bill. If we don't get this one big beautiful bill passed, America is going to see the largest tax increase in American history. Extending the Trump tax cuts with the one big beautiful bill will be a critical lifeline. Make sure we're gonna have a strong military, strong borders. Made in America policy. And when you cut 1.6 trillion dollars, how can you say that's anything but a massive, you know, landmark bill? And it's what American people do. We've got to keep our promise. President Trump understands how important a made in America tax break is. We finally have a president in the office that is willing to take that bull by the horns. And we are united in one purpose and that's to get Donald Trump's agenda passed through the Congress. To change the trajectory of the country and again it's the first of a number of steps and President Trump is committed to doing this. And we're gonna get this to the President's desk to get him to sound it in the wall.

Well Liz thank you it's so great to be with you and I heard you say the July 4th timeline I mean what great a way to celebrate our nation's independence than to get the one big beautiful bill passed and give the American people a great tax cut and get our economy thriving. You know what you're seeing now is the House and the Senate negotiating real time and I'm glad that we get to see this when you talk about the American people you talk about welfare reform and getting able body people back to work you know this is an exciting time I know we're doing the same thing here at HUD to see what tools we have to help the American people to get back to work to raise their families and to thrive once again in our country.

We're going to do our part at EPA and you're also seeing this as part of the debate in Congress to get President Trump's one big beautiful bill over the finish line because while there's a lot of focus on tax cuts and securing the border and interior enforcement, there's a lot in the energy and environmental space which includes refilling the strategic petroleum reserve, suspending a natural gas tax for 10 years, more oil and gas leases including more coal leases on federal land and more, and permitting reform is part of that too. So there's a lot that can be done by agencies, there's also more that can be done by Congress, all of this helps fulfill the agenda. And I understand you're EPA, you're not the energy secretary, and I know that you follow all this stuff because you have a very complex job, but we saw the president spend a lot of time in the Middle East and making a lot of deals. Does that come into play as far as the goal of reducing energy prices? Is that part of the equation? Is getting these countries more favorable leverage over these countries and better relationships with these countries will lead to cheaper energy prices throughout the country? Because that really is such a crucial part of I think what his agenda has been, which is the lower cost for the American people. When President Trump is communicating abroad with nations or meeting with foreign leaders from Washington DC or traveling overseas, such as his trip to the Middle East, there is a very robust America first agenda that he goes with to try to deliver on. And certainly energy policy is something that is top of mind, exporting American energy production or looking at what is produced on farms and so much more. There's a lot of opportunity for the American economy for us to be net exporters of these resources. And I would argue that it's better for our environment because we tap into our energy supply safer than so many other countries around the world. It's important for our national security. It's better for our economy. Certainly when the president goes to the Middle East and he has a robust America first agenda, he's thinking about American energy and he's thinking about American interest as it relates to American energy. So whether he's here at home or abroad, it's certainly something I've heard get brought up a lot. And there have been many meetings with the president in the White House, in the Oval Office, at the Resolute Desk, where he's asking tough questions. He's making big demands on these cabinet secretaries, myself included, to make sure that we're fulfilling this Trump mandate. And I'm glad that he's holding us to that standard of delivering.

So it's phenomenal. Anybody that cares about national security knows that under the last administration we were breaking record numbers of people that were coming into the country illegally and that were being released into the country. And to go from 62,000, over 62,000, down to zero, we're breaking record numbers in the right direction now. We're securing our border. We will not declare victory, but I will tell you we are fast approaching it. We are closer to operational security of the border than we've ever had. Two days ago, we broke another record, 141 entries at the southwest border. Those entries are all apprehended and none of them will be released. That's incredible. So what is your message to? I'm instantly thinking that we're keeping Border Patrol agents safer and our communities safer. So what is your message to Donald Trump? The message the President of the United States says, thank you. Thank you for the support that you've given the U.S. Border Patrol. We've said all along that the United States Border Patrol knows how to secure the border. We just need leadership. And with the leadership of President Trump and Secretary Noem, we have proven exactly what we've been saying for years. Let us enforce the laws and we'll get the job done. And I think the American people are seeing that. We're making our community safer. We're making our nation more secure. And we're just getting started.
