We’ve cleaned, renovated, and beautified over 45 Monuments and Memorials, 28 Statues, and 22 Fountains in Washington, D.C. Things are really looking good in our Nation’s Capital, and add to that the fact that when I became President, Crime was rampant, and now, Washington, D.C., is one of the Safest Cities anywhere in the United States. However, we’ve had some real problems with Vandalism at the beautiful Reflecting Pool, which sits between The Washington Monument and The Lincoln Memorial. Just like three days ago, they destroyed the grass outside of the Pool, they’ve also done everything possible to hurt the inside surface that was just installed. No different than the chemicals that were used on the National Mall, they used something similar in the Reflecting Pool to try to destroy and demean our beautiful work. Lightweight ABC Reporter, Jonathan Karl, was seen sticking his hand into the Pool, and trying to rip the rubber off of the surface. The algae is 75% gone, and the condition will soon be completely remedied, and the area that was vandalized, fortunately, is just a small area of damage, and will be fixed early next week. It’s a shame that the Radical Left Lunatics, most likely Dumocats, who have spent their lives trying to ruin our Country, are free to do so. Law Enforcement is actively investigating this situation, and will hopefully have it resolved soon. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

We passed the Continuing Resolution in the Republican House today, which was a very good thing because it shows that Republicans want to keep the Government open but, in the Senate, we have 53 Republicans, and we need 60 Votes. I want to thank Senator John Fetterman, a Democrat, for voting for us, but the Democrats want to shut the Country down. They want to open the Borders, they want us to stop fighting Crime (and, by the way, D.C. is finally SAFE!), they want men to play in women's sports, they want "TRANSGENDER" for everybody and, if they don't get them, they are not going to open the Government. Just today the House Democrats voted against condemning the political assassination of Charlie Kirk. Today, I'm signing two historic executive orders, continuing my administration's efforts to help more of our citizens achieve the dream of home ownership. It's called the American Dream. Thanks to our purchase of $200 billion in mortgage bonds, mortgage rates recently reached the lowest level in five years. This dramatically reduces monthly payments for new homebuyers. The annual cost of the typical new mortgage is down almost $5,000 since I took office. I'm very proud of that. I also signed an executive order to stop Wall Street and large institutional investment firms from buying up all the single-family homes in the scheme to turn them into rentals and make lots of money in doing it. We want America to be a nation of owners, not renters. Today, I'm taking action to help reduce rates even more and make it much easier to build new homes in America. The first executive order is about bringing more community banks back into the mortgage business. Two decades ago, over 5,000 community banks were offering mortgages. Today, that number has been slashed by more than 50 percent, largely because of burdensome, unnecessary regulations that radical liberals imposed on community lenders for the benefit of their donors on Wall Street and frankly for the benefit of themselves. The result was less competition and higher mortgage rates for hardworking Americans like you. That is why under my order, we will eliminate the thicket of unnecessary rules and restrictions that crippled community banks. They've been hurt so badly. We're bringing them back. When more local banks start offering mortgages again, fees will go down, costs will fall, and home buyers will be able to get a mortgage under the more affordable terms that we're insisting on. The second executive order I'm signing today will help lower construction costs for building new homes so that home builders can offer Americans more affordable options. I'm going to sign them right now. No auto pen. Okay. That's my real signature. It's not an auto pen like you had in the past. As part of the Green News scam, the Biden administration and many state and local governments added endless, ridiculous regulations that raised construction costs very, very substantially. With my order today, we will slash many of these pointless regulations that do nothing for safety and add lots of costs. The NFL has to get rid of that ridiculous looking new Kickoff Rule. How can they make such a big and sweeping change so easily and quickly. It's at least as dangerous as the "normal" kickoff, and looks like hell. The ball is moving, and the players are not, the exact opposite of what football is all about. "Sissy" football is bad for America, and bad for the NFL! Who comes up with these ridiculous ideas? It's like wanting to "roll back" the golf ball so it doesn't go (nearly!) as far. Fortunately, college football will remain the same, hopefully forever!!
